  1. Was'nt a big fan but "may she rest in peace" you've got to give the lassie credit, she raised the profile and awareness of this terrible disease and that!! has got to help other women in the future!! and the fact she's worked tiredlesly despite being terminally ill to provide for her two kids future and welfare Tom
  2. Anyone can wear a kilt nowadays Durham and Newcastle have their own tartans as do the Welsh, Irish and the Isle of Man (Manx) there's all times of tartans now but, I'm afraid I'm a wee bit of a traditionalist I only wear my Clan tartan Glad to hear you felt good wearing it Tom
  3. Cick on the link below: If your ever invited to a Scottish wedding and you want to wear a kilt here's how!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can put this lot on in a tent!! half pished with one hand at a lurcher / terrier show or gamefair why one handed? cos I've still got a drink in the other Tom Ps: even I did'nt know there was so many ways to tie a pair of fecking shoelaces Obviously the lad modelling is'nt a Scot as he's wearing undies, obviously to avoid Richard Widmarks on a hired kilt
  4. I apogise in advance for bumping this up but some people may find it interesting Tom
  5. Catcher The history books I've been reading and read are the definitive ones! Henry 8th was given the title Defender of the Faith by the Pope and then kicked him in the goolies by getting rid of the catholic church in England and Wales I also certainly did not dismiss Wales in any shape or form it has a proud history and culture like Scotland The British government even today give equal footing to the Welsh language with English but not Scots Gaelic which they don't recognise and don't have plans to do so? You seem to think I support the Union or am defending it "I most certainly am not!!"
  6. Don't know if your on cable or sky TV you could press on demand if you were? or you could try this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ Tom

  8. The Clan system is actuallyolder than Scotland itself Scottish Clan System ONE of the most important factors in Scotland's development as a nation over the last 1000 years has been the existence of the clan system. The clans are even older than Scotland itself, and many people - especially expatriates living abroad - regard them as a vital part of the country's heritage. This age-old system of family groupings has given many Scots their surnames, provided a great amount of family pride, and produced a fierce sense of community which still exists to this day. Despite the fac
  9. It was'nt the English who were the major problem after the Scottish wars of independance it was succesive British governments, a subtle difference!! The 1715 and 45 rebellions were'nt an England / Scotland issue Tom
  10. Were' a lot closer than you think!! eg: My Mother was a Boyd, lowland Clan from Kilmarnock (Ayrshire) : Father Was a Cameron, Highland Clan Wife is Gunn Clan Island Clan The clan system was prevelant throughout Scotland, Highlands and Islands and lowlands not just in the north!! Tom
  11. Buch say's "Your entitled to you wish for independance and i for one wouldnt want any one who doesnt want to be "British" (see the muslim protesters) in this country of ours. But for you to imply that your feelings of local pride what ever are more important/misunderstood/ignored gets my back up." To compare feelings Countrywide pride (Scottish) not local pride and views of Scottish Nationalism, against Muslim religeous extremists, zealots and supporters of terrorisim is way off the mark We also differ on a few fundamentals here: your obviously an English person who belie

  13. Tomo click on the links: I'm very much aware of the presumed Welsh connection there is also similar stories suggesting St Patrick was English? But the majority of the faithfull (roman catholics) believe he was a Scot?? including its assumed their present Pope? http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=89 http://saints.sqpn.com/saint-patrick/ Living to the ripe old age of 106, is part of the legend, myth, lore or truth depending on your personal perception, he is also credited to have cast all the snakes out of Ireland? Tom check your history Tom st patrick w
  14. Happy St patricks day lads Thanks for honouring a fellow Scot Saint Patrick, (Apostle of Ireland, born at Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, in Scotland, in the year 387; died at Saul, Downpatrick, Ireland, 17 March, 493.) All the best and have a good' un Tom
  15. aaah!! the union flag, a symbol of a United Kingdom a bit strange, there is no reference to Wales or Northern Ireland on it? so much for unity? it seems us Scots and English are more equal than the others? Swampy say's "Nice to see people calling it the union flag and not the union jack." The Union Flag, popularly known as the *Union Jack, is the national flag of the United Kingdom. It is the British flag. It is called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. It was made up up of the individual Flags of three of the King
  16. ScotHunter says! "Scotland wont get independence the main reason being the vast majority of scot;s dont want it.(fact) The scots who bleat about it are just jacobites who wanna stir up trouble there anti Monarchy anti protestant anti english thank f**k their a minority thats all i can say!" How ignorant can one person be? I'm a supporter of Scottish Nationalism, I'm not a member of the SNP. I'm not anti monarchist (I still believe the Queen should be Scotlands representative Head of State) I certainley am not anti protestant I'm a member of the Church of Scotland (baptised protestant an
