  2. The one bad egg does'nt even own a dog and thats is by his own admission!! If I understand it? he was at the show by invitation as part of the lurcher racing?? If thats the case, Forest if I was you I would'nt be asking or inviting the same lurcher racing team to take part in any of your remaining show's especially!! if they're back-stabbing judges at a show they've been asked/invited to take part in!!! as for a dog in the organisers tent, can't? an organiser bring their own dogs to a show even if they're not showing the said dogs?? I've been ill for the last few weeks and thats why I did'nt
  3. Spot on Forest I was one of your judges at the similar show you ran at Harewood House (The Yorkshire Game Fair) along with two lads from my club at Neilston in Scotland and one from the FKWTC No-one knew us from the judging circuit and none of us brought or showed dogs at the events you run, Also we are lucky that the friends we bring with us to show's were, involved in! won't enter their dogs if we, their mates are judging, that to me is what show's are about fairness!! At Yorkshire, in the Supadog final, I was a member of the panel of three judges, my experience extends from twenty yea

    EDRD

I've just noticed this post! and I had been offline for a while with a serious chest/viral complaint for which I was hospitalised The drawings I found hilarious and David Harcombe kindly gave me the original drawings to raise funds for BADA-UK , I've yet to thank David personally but thats coming I've promised my side of the story in a future edition of EDRD and a written thanks on my behalf and BADA's. David Harcombe in my opiniom is one of the most warm hearted, generous people I've yet to meet , He was one of the first people to help with the ZANDER Appeal (A scots shoolboy shot on the
  5. I would'nt bother young un! its run by the same people who run Selby gamefair which is albeit a glorified car boot sale, a second hand/rate show run by second rate organisers is coming to Scotland and Scottish fieldsports reputation will suffer?? I was supposed to be running the dog show at this event!! as one of the main attractions and as part of the homecoming celebrations, the organisers would'nt come up with the cash when, I asked or required it, (thats when I and other organisers of the dogs show pulled out) and neither would the Scottish Association for Countrysports who are erroniou

  11. I need a surname especially if its Scottish or Scottish based to find out if you have a family tartan or clan affiliation, anybody else wants to find out let me know and I'll do a search Tom Ps: you can wear a clan tartan if your name allows?? Clan societies and Clan Chiefs validate your membership of a Clan, a rule like that probably only applies to me as I'm a boring old fart with traditional family ties and links
  12. Click on the link and see the history of your surname and where its most common http://www.nationaltrustnames.org.uk/default.aspx Surprise, surprise!! mine "Chalmers" is Celtic and most common in Scotland especially the North East My clan, "Cameron" is also Celtic, also more common in the North of Scotland Tom

  15. It is reputed in some circles the Sir William Wallace was decended from an individual known as "Richard the Welshman"! Wallace himself was in fact born a Scot!! He first saw the light of day in the village of Elderslie and was educated at Paisley Abbey by Cluniastic monks. William Wallace is known in history as the Knight of Ellerslie or Elderslie. Both these names are one and the same - both mean the field of the Elder trees, and Elderslie of course stands close to Paisley in Renfrewshire. At the Elderslie, two famous trees once stood, the Wallace oak, and the Wallace Yew. The yew alone rema
  16. I never said the guy lied (St Aneurin) I'm suggesting he's looking at it from a sixth century cleric's perspective with religeous zeal and conviction of the time?, He probably believed that God created the Earth in six days and rested on the seventh, Rome was the centre of the universe, Eve was moulded from clay given Adam's rib in a transplant with, God giving here the breath of life and that dragons and unicorns existed, I've also read Lord of the Rings but my education and the geography lessons I had at school, tell me theres no such place as Middle Earth and that race of small people with
  17. The Normans and William the Conquerer did'nt invade or conquer Scotland ( thats a historical fact) French and Norman nobility married into the Scottish royal families but we!! were never conquered by the Normans and Scots Gaelic goes back a lot further than the sixth century it? became dominant in the ninth!! I would define Edinburgh as being in the lowlands and in the south of Scotland as I stated earlier a Brithonic language similar to Welsh was prevelant at a certain time in southern Scotland that would be why and how Edinburgh got its name? but Welsh or similar as a language, was not preve
  18. johnD says " Officially Britain has only been conquered once by William the Conquerer.?" William the Conquerer invaded England in 1066 and defeated King Harold at Hastings, he did not repeat not! conquer Britain? Scotland was a sovereign nation at the time and was'nt part of Williams plans Thats why we dont have a large Norman influence in Scotland despite having other links with France eg: "The Auld Alliance" Scottish and other parts of the UK's history were not always shared!! you have the Magna Carta we have "The Declaration of Arbroath" which is reputedley what the American Constitution an

  21. Gash's explanation is spot on We at Neilston and the lads at Kelvin valley are lucky that the private landowners who own the land we hold our show's on allow all working breeds to attend, To have lurchers at an agricultural show lurchermen and lurchers are still seen or portrayed by some in a negative light! its up to all of us to try and change these outdated and sometimes entrenched views. At NWDA we showed previously that we could run well orchestrated terrier shows! we then deceided to include lurchers, there was some opposistion too this but common sense prevailed its only a matter of t
  22. Right!! you lot, who else is up for this show? I'm really looking forward to it and who's definately going and! it will be something different with brand new organisers running the Lurcher and Terrier show Its two days before my birthday and I'll be celebrating early with my Southern friends Tom
  23. To be honest I did'nt do much except prance about like an old TRANNY wearing my best frock , all of the work was done by people like Vixen, GASH78, Brass (Chairman) Cairnie, Judges, Stewards and the lassies doing the burgers, Also the work you guys (the exhibitors) put in by standing in the pissing rain and supporting us makes it all worth it Once again!! thanks everybody Tom Ps: DELBOY a special thanks to you!! from all the members at NWDA, for taking the photo's and recording the clubs day in pictures
  24. This'll get them talking even more  Myself and the Chairman at NWDA did notice you eyeing it up and we know you'ld be disapointed if some-one else got it, thats!! why I pulled it Its a one off and if your at the Yorkshire Game Fair? I might, if your lucky let you have the old one Tom
  25. I never thought until it was too late after seeing "The Legend that is Bruce!!" I should have got a slab of wet cement for Brucie's paws and got it laid in the hall of fame pavement, in Neilston village its not often the village see's celebrities like that he could have signed it "jackers beware, co's Bruce has been here" Tom
