  1. i am putting together an application to get planning on my 4 acre holding (o.k being honest the wife does all the research shes much better than me at that sort of thing) and the main things we have found is proving that it is a full time job for one person and also having a "need to be there" most councils dont believe a few cows and sheep is enough of a reason to be there, unfortunetly. what we have done is to get a certifacate of lawful use for a freerange chicken farm it only cost 35 quid to apply and now we have it in writing that we can do this we are then going to apply for a dwelli
  2. i have a brinsea octagon 20 with turning cradle i hatch light sussex chickens and goose eggs, mostly get about an % hatch rate but did once get 12 out of 12 goose eggs hatch these days i have enough chickens to hatch under broodys alot less work rearing for me
  3. i think if you do a search you can get the basic stuff for about 50 quid, then build your own with some sort of box, instructions should be included in the pack
  4. was thinking of trying some of these i have some 3mm ht wire how far do you push into ground (i suppose it depends on soil?) so maybe better to ask how big should the hoop be when set eg width and height? do you just tye snare onto hoop as with fence snaring cheers
  5. i think you will find theres 1128 1126 and that was with my glasses

  11. if both hands are on neck and chin doesant his claws scrach you when hes kicking (not being funny i just havent tryed this way)
  12. even tho the applicater is in a seeled case and i carry the tubs in a seeled container i can still smell it after a job, dodgy stuff windows open all the way home its one of the reasons ive ordered a canopy for the back of my truck to keep it away from me
  13. i always cover the top of my duffus with fine soil off the mole hills about in inch as i believe this stops any change in air flow through the holes in the trap and maybe some sound difference to as the mole approches it (its more like a seeled tunnel with no voids) we all have our own ways but just try it different ways and see what works for you.
  14. thanks all, lots of ideas there my .410 is a side by side can you get a silencer for a double? i think i will call basc as i am a member and see what they say also the local fao to get his thoughts on it that captive bolt thing looks abit short for my liking dont fancy trying to grab hold of a scared fox to use it to anyone who has a .17hmr, how quiet are these when fitted with a moderator? thanks again
  15. and what is the law on using it as a pest controller in a garden?

  18. i breed light sussex chickens and they are good layers and also they look nice alot of the hybrids lay far more eggs but to me are just very plain looking. if your not to far from oxford i`ll do you 6 for 40 quid.
  19. Hi all was just wondering if i can get a .22 rimfire with a silencer for dispatching foxes in cage traps. i am getting more and more calls for foxes in domestic situations taking chickens, at the moment i cage trap and then once caught i have a set of wheels i attach to one end of the trap to wheel it to my truck i then load it and drive to my smallholding where i shoot them point blank with the .410 i`m sure that this is not the best method and must be upsetting for the caught fox but even a .410 is far to loud to shoot in a "normal" back garden so i dont have another option at t
  20. I CAN BEAT THAT ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH THE AIR GUN
