sounds like you have good mate! I know lads down here who have to be In when their missus tells them. when I met my missus she only moved in the area 3 years earler from Hemel Hempstead, her parents expected big things from her and to be Honest she was pushed into alot she didn't want to do includeing pushing her to be a teenage Model which she hated, it all changed when she met me mate , I kept it quiet at first what I got upto when it got dark, but she was fascinated and loved going out with the gun rather than Pub and also loved coming out with the birds, its funny as it seemed like this wa -
Is there anything nicer than stepping out on a cold, clear frosty morning ? Anything better than sitting next to the fire with the rain, sleet and wind howling at the window ? Anything better than seeing the hedgerows full of Daff's, appleblossom dropping everywhere ? Anything better than seeing a big copper beach in a summer meadow, butterflies and bees buzzing ? Anything better than fruit ripening everywhere, leaves changing colour, kids playing conkers. We are so lucky in this blessed land to have the four seasons, enjoy them folks. We live in the

Can't say fairer than that then, a trip to Germany to see some working dogs. You lucky b'stards. Somehow i can't see Fellman in a mixed sauna though. Have a good trip lads. Where abouts are you living Rudi ?

Well mate, generally a Patterdale is a smooth haired bull type dog, the fell is more like a Lakeland in template. Although different people have different ideas on the subject. This is my Fell type bitch in the summer, don't look like that now though  :black eye:

A good big 'un will always beat a good little 'un Sylvia, although i don't like the Neanderthal, should win by a country mile.......................but anything can happen. Oh yes and that saying, the bigger they are the harder they fall is a load of cobblers The bigger they are, the harder they hit you. :black eye: :black eye:

I thought you'd ferked off to Oz big fella

German girls Steezy, well what can i say....................................they're not shy
-
Agree. Must be a bit of history here that folk don't know about, i don't anyway. I don't know Chris, Steezy or Rudi, neither do i know anyone else on this forum but i don't go calling them for doing as they like with their dogs. I lived for some years in Germany and if anybody doubts how seriously they take they're hunting best thing to do is take up the invite and go visit the place. Nice people, nice countryside, nice food and fairly decent beer. Whatever you do with the terriers in those pictures they certainly look in good fettle.

She certainly does, when i come home from hunting, or shooting, or Rugby or a night out, She very graciously leaves me alone for a day or two in complete silence just so i can mull over the days events in peace and quiet What a girl  -

Great stuff mate.

Totally agree with you there Valerio, keep talking terriers mate. The proper earth working Jagd's could not possibly be anything than the right size for their job could they, otherwise they wouldn't be used and no one would keep them. Keeper i know worked in Scotland and always had leggy Terriers for getting around those rock places to. Spoof, no one is condoning baiting animals shag. If its legal wherever those links come from so what, if you don't like it don't look.Or better still get on a plane and go over to bongo bongo land and tell them . I'm sure you will have n

If you have two terriers of equal working ability, same athletic build but one larger than the other, how can the larger one get where the smaller one can't ? Both dogs want to get to their quarry with the same amount of heart, one is physically more able than the other so logically it should be able to get further up a tube than the larger dog. My only experience is obviously with fox, maybe terriers shrink when used for Badger. Have you never had a dog stuck, being hurt by his quarry and not able to react 'cos its too big, or a terrier that cannot get close to its quarry for

Great replies from the Continental contingent. Good on yer lads, stick up for the fact you lucky b'stards have still got the right to work your dogs to ALL Vermin.

i'm no expert, nor am i bullsh*tter. I have not seen a Border not work, if you know what i mean , although i'm sure others have. As with any working dog, right lines, right entering and the opportunity to do this work is important. 14 Month old, first fox, self entered and bolted.

I first got this book from a library when i left the Army and have been after it ever since, thankfully due to the information superhighway that is the internet, i now have my own copy. Now i haven't a clue who Mark Giles is but i admire his honesty and the no frills way he words everthing. Now bare in mind this book was written, or published, in 1988 and as far as i know foxes havent evolved that much in that short period of time, then the type of terrier used then should be the same as today yes ?. As its quite a while since i had a good look through any terrier books, i found m
