  1. I remember her saying that Chalkwarren. There is something very personable about them, in general. Of course mine are now a long, long way from the line that Anne bred.........I added Saluki, from a little dog from the Merlin/Eve etc lines. Added all sorts via different lurcher to lurcher bred dogs and bitches. A friend of mine used Poser, who was Anne's stud dog back in the early 90s, and mine come down from him. The original bitch I got from Anne's breeding sadly died at an early age through injury, but she was one of the most amazing dogs I've ever known: almost feral in her attitude, but totally biddable, and quite brilliant on the lamp on any game.

She seldom got bitten by a fox, and had this technique where she'd run along side the fox, make a pretend strike as though going for the back of its neck, then, when the fox raised its head in retaliation to bite her, she throw herself sideways and get it by its by now exposed throat: it worked every time. This didn't work quite the same way with muntjak, and she once got her shoulder laid open to the bone by a big buck. She never made a sound though, and managed to get it by the throat and shut the damn thing up. My vets, who were at the time just starting out in practice and very pro hunting, accepted half the munty in part payment for the subsequent surgery. Whispa recovered fast and we were back in business in no time, though she really did have too much heart for a bitch of her size and build. She was white rough coated with brindle patches and not dissimilar to that funny looking white lurcher in Walsh's book. Them were the days :whistling::D

i like the sounds of these dogs sound pretty handy indeeed, wish the vets by me would take half a munty in payment

  2. theres a few local lads that own lurcher x lurcher breeding that live near me.

which i bred and can trace the linage back 35 years,

most of these lads dont want to know lines and how far they go back because once they own the dog its tunnel vision.

its a shame because theres so much to tell about each and every dog that was used in the making of these dogs.

    atb dai.

to me thats how the best lurchers are bred true worker to true worker fairplay to yah dai

  3. ive called them in in the day a few times in ther past mate,i called one years back i was a youth at the time i had a jackrussell pup she was about 8months a the time squeak it up on the park the back of me moms i hid in the long grass it almost run in to the terrier couldnt believe it

  4. I'm curious to know why people prefer to use the bull x when in my opinion a good collie grey is capable of doing the same job I'm not knocking the cross just not my cup of tea I'd like to know a bit about the history of the cross when it was introduced etc this isn't a topic for shit talk I'd like some sensible replies and like I said everyone to there own I'm not knocking the breed.

not been funny mate but theres no collie greyhound in the u,k that can can do every think a good bull breed dose no chance

thats true stag i think people who have say collie crosses can do the same as a bull cross have probably never actually saw one work mate

  5. ive ran collie gryhounds in the past they are a very versatile dog but talking in pre ban tearms some collie crosses are capable at catching and killing foxes single handed but i think the going gets tough i think the percentage of collie crosses that throw the towl in is alot higher than a bull cross throwing the towl in.Where a good bull cross will go in and get the job done collie bred lurchers tend to use there ten pence as too say, i think when they see pearles the old red like flashes in there heads if you know what i mean.
