  1. Could it be Graham Brockhouse? Fits your description of working in midlands and then going to scotland. Think he is/was more of a story teller than a keeper! I'm sure someone might be able to correct me but think he was regularly writing for sporting gun. He was up in Dumfries & Galloway, fairly sure he wasn't full-time keepering, but last I heard he was back in the midlands after splitting up with his partner(a fairly well known artist).

i didnt know the man personally he was a keeper in the midlands though me dad used to beat for him and he let my dad have the rabbits on the estate well pat of it he seamed a sound chap from what my dad was saying werent keen on running dog but what gamekeeper isnt he was with an artist your right mate must be the same chap

  2. Well shes had a good weekend i went out saturday night with her on the lamp on a spot i havent been too for a couple of seasons its a little spot where i used to do abit of pest control with a pal of mine unfotunatley hes unable to do it at the moment so i thought id go and do my part for him  . It isnt a big peace of land just a small cricket pitch surounded by a couple of farm fields holding cattle time to time 1 thing i know it does hold alot of is bunnies i got there about 10 saturday night i had a quick flick on the cricket pitch revealed 3 bunnies on the far side i made my way over towards them slowly along the boundry line i slipped her on her 1st target only to relise it was making its way to the saftey of its warren then she went on a rampage and didnt hurry to get back to me my heart sunk and i wanted to kill her she cocked a deff un like i werent there, eventually she came back. I flashed the lamp to reveal 1 soltry rabbit left sitting in the middle of the field i got into the position with milly slipped her it went like a rocket on the flat ground she was" on it like a car bonit" as they say ha ha ha 1 turn i thouht she had lost it she struck into the hedge i heard a squeal and she made her way towards me reluctantly but she was on her way number 1, i went into the next field 1st slip was met with a nice course and catch alrite retrieve. This field was alive believe me it wasnt that big but a nice grazing field i made my way round the hedge line next slip was a nice easy pick up she cops them on the back most the time not ideal but aslong as she cops them im not too fussed  next 2 slipps were all good catches and me and milly were in the n zone and the field still held bunnies my mouth was dribbling, next slipp was caught on the hedge line and thye slip after that just seemed to give up the ghost and was scooped up by this point i wanted too wet my self  . I thought id make my way back to the car she had done what i wanted of her and i was more than happy on the way back to the car i thought id try another field that i knew would hold a few bunnies i flicked the lamp and saw a bunny that i thought was squatting i slipped her relising where it was squatting there were holes that he made his exit quick gutted!!! as milly made her way back i clocked a bunny i clocked a bunny in the corner of the lamp i put the lamp on it and sent her towards it the bunny took off towards the scattered tree line only to havbe milly turn it and make a quck catch she paraded round so proud holding this bunny towards the gate way i csame into that field through i took it off herin the end  ,I made my way towards the car and right by the car stood a bunny  so i quckly slipped bunny another quck course and a catch unfortunatlery this 1 had mixy and i discarded it to the foxes i saw hiding in the hedge rowes when i was lamping so there it was 8 bunnies i know it werent alot but iwas happy and so was the dog and to top it off today i went to the long itchington show in warwickshire and had 1st best lurcher pup bitch and 3rd bull cross bitch so im happy for her fairplay milly

  3. Cheap dog food, canny believe my eyes! I wouldnt want to be a working dog in any of you lots kennels. Bust my balls in the field to be fed like a cow, fer f**k sake lads wise up. You wouldnt put sub grade fuel into a ferrari would you, theres enough information in this section of the forum to write a book on feeding a mixed varied diet of meats and veggies. Theres lads on here that should speak up a bit more because i know they bite their lip everytime they read this nonsence. Advice is free, take it. Its one of a few things in this day and age that is!

its alrite when you can afford rediculass prices for food ive known people pay top money for such food as eukanuba and iams and i know what goes into it and trust it aint the best i put meat in with my food tripe they also get oil such as codliver oil and sunflower oil i also incorperate fish into there i.e trout just because some people feed cheap food dont mean zitch mate. My dads family had a farm in ireland when he was a kid and they had a few coursing greyhounds terriers and collie type dogs they ate the same as the farm animals cows sheep etc it was like a grewl no meat ot all mainly cereal based and those dogs were none stop all day and theyd run on terain that was hard going on them so in my eyes it makes no difference so stick your comment in your pipe and smoke it

Next you will be telling me smoking is good for you. Hahahaha

  6. Hi all, ive just got off the phone and there has been 2 litters of spaniels stolen today.

The one litter is all black and tan Cocker pups, they are very few and far between.

The second litter are springers and have both L&W and B&W pups.

They are 8 weeks old and from Will Clulee's Kennels, fantastic pedigree's and were going to their new homes this weekend.

As you can imagine he is very upset and believes they were taken around 3:30pm as he was out training, if you can cross post or tell anyone who may be able to post it in other forums he would be very greatful.

If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

hope he gets them back mate thieving fuckers need stringing up by the yard arm :censored:

  8. I found a dead Muntjac Deer in April 2011 on the beach at Hartlepool on Durhams east coast. I took several photos (still got them on my phone) as my dog -a staffy- is smelling it (It makes a good comparison for the size). I knew it was a Muntjac because it had "tusks" from the top of its mouth pointing downover. A few weeks before there was a few sightings of the "Durham Puma" which were reported in the Hartlepool Mail. (Website is Hartlpooltoday). In the summary of these reports Sergeant Eddie Bell of Durham Police- a wild life liason officer, and a guy called Ian Bond who works for Hartlepool Council (www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk /news/local/expert_expert_news_on_expert_views_on_big_cats_1_3257655 ).- says that Alien Big Cat sightings can sometimes be attributed to Muntjac deer.

When I found the body on the beach I rang the local paper (Hartlepool Mail) and they more or less laughed at me...

i can post the photos if u want

ha ha ha the last thing that got washed up on the beach in hartlepool was a monkey werent it ha ha ha

  9. I need to get fit to work the dogs in the winter! I'm one of those really old fashioned hunters who walk the fields on foot: something that a lot of youngsters these days don't seem to know anything about :tongue2: :tongue2:

Most of my land is plough or drilling in the winter, and its the sort of mud that likes to be carried round on my boots: try carrying an extra 5kg on each foot over a nights lamping or a days running!! :icon_eek::laugh: Need to be fit for that sort of ground :D I'm likely to have to do a few miles on that ground, more sometimes: oh well, no peace for the wicked: out again in a moment!

i love to walk fields i used to leave me moms at 8 on the night and come back about 4 in the morning, ive walked across heavy ploughed fields in the past and me calfs have been on fire but its all worth it on a good night just to get a run with the dog

  10. A mate of mine had a crossed dogo think it was with a pressa mite be wrong it was a beast of a dog he did have it for a guard dog for certain reasons any the dog was sound with people when mate was about but not to be trusted believe me. It used to stopped in his bedroom window alday watch constantly and 1 day when my mate was down stairs in saw a dog on the other side of the road smashed through the window near enough killed the dog and went for the owner the dog was mental and enevertably put to sleep, ive got bull crosses my self and i dont think a dogo could bring to the table what a bull has got and i think youd get more waistage in a litter then you would good ones
