pest control should be done quickly and cleanly so if a pigeon or any other form of winged vermin is shot on the ground as long as it it done in the fore mentioned way there will be no problem from the tree huggers the lad asked for some genuine advice ...so why be such a cock about it ????????????????

Fair enough DW but like you have said I have seen with my own eyes not what ive read or heard from other people as for pine martins I have quite alot of experiance with the em also when keepering in the highlands and I can honestly say they were not a predatious as mink thats just my experaince ....in fact an old stalker used to say he didnt mind a few pine martins as they keeped the hoodie crows under control by preying on there eggs and chicks as they nest as you know on solitary trees on the hill ....how much truth in this and imo there is not much worse than a pair of hoodies on a grouse m

Last season there was a greeting match if I was going lampin,shooting diggin or out with the hounds ...I had to sneek out the house ....but he did get out a few times ...this little fella has seen more than most adults when it comes to country pursuits .....we have got a replica shot gun for his birthday on fri ....just to learn him gun etticate (spelling ) will get some pics up of the gun just got a made to measure gun slip made for it

I used to stay in the highest house in the uk .....that was right up as far into the highlands as you can get and we used to catch a few mink every year from a small burn that ran past the lodge ....they say that mink are never more than a mile away from water but you are never realy more than a mile away from water of some form no mater where you are in the uk ....so you could say they will be found pretty much every where

I very much disagree with you Duckwing you just need to look at the damage mink have caused to ground nesting birds on the westcoast of Scotland islands were otters nad rats have habitated before the mink arrived and the real damaged happen after it occupied they islands . mink are very ferioucious predators and very good at what they do ...when I was growing up there were 2 rivers I styaed by a small laid that ran the local water works when I was about 10 this small river was teaming with wildlife ....water voles coots ducks water hens, king fishers...even the king fishers disapeared ...

I use potassium permangenate on some heads ...it is trial and error to get the differant shades but if you get a right with a bit of practice the can look natural

I have also seen reds with this but only on one foot due to an injury where the full wieght cant be put down on the foot

As for celtic and rangers joining the English premier league .....there is only 1 team in the uk thats bigger than the 2 old firm and thats man utd .....I travel all over the world as part of my job and every country I go to there is a Celtic and Rangers fan club and the old firm clash is world famous ...what world famous derby is there in England ????????????. john
