Took this pic from my garden the other night ....there are a lot of pinks in now ....they are feeding a few fields west from my house and this is them heading back to roost on the water ....It is hard to see from the pic just how vast this skien was but a rough guess at over 30 000 and head over my house every night just as the sun drops

Out this morning managed to bag 3 pinks a mallard and a wigeon ....but the young lad got a brace of pinks so he was over the moon but the main thing for me was the young bitch done well picking 3 geese and a duck from the water and is improving everytime we are out

Had her at her first days beating yesterday she never put a foot wrong she was totaly bang on very staedy ...out at the ducks tomoro ...hopefully a few more good retrieves

Yes they done a count on the roost at the end of the week and they recon there is over 60000 in now

What I have found about training a dog to retrieve is make it fun and make the dog want to retrieve ...loads of praise ...but when they start playing about stop as the dog has had enough and continue the next day and it will click together

Never a truer word said as I can guarentee you a very very small percentage of dogs that attend shows you could class as out and out or top grade working dogs ....Now before the usual suspect disagree ...its a fact and it is nothing to do with being bitter or bad loser ...but have attended shows for a few years and seen them for what they realy are..... a bit of fun where you win a red rossette to show of to your mates and if that makes you feel better about yourself then craic on but dont come on these sites and pretend that these dog work to a high standard .....
