  1. My parents asked me if I wanted to buy our council house when I was 18 I jumped at the chance, 9k seemed like a bargain lol. Nextdoor sold a couple of years ago for 190k.
  2. One of my brothers is a brickie he's worked all over the UK and Ireland and has done alright for himself, always chased the money though and spent more time away from home than in it, he's 55 and packed in the travelling last year and is only working local now less money but says he's retiring in a few years time.
  3. I took it as he was on 75k after the tax man, maybe I picked him up wrong, but if he's on 50 a year home he ain't much of a builder.
  4. I honestly don't get how you can be earning 75k a year and not being doing well for yourself,
  5. Thought you were in a blackout when you weren't on, my sisters was off for 10 days as well, power lines running through forestry blocks with hundreds of trees down on top of them was the problem, glad you're up and running again.
  6. It needs expansion joints to allow for movement.
  7. A cabin I done a couple of months ago with pvc, fitted with a 2 part epoxy on to ply, nice clean finish.
  8. We've used fibreglass, kingspan, rockwool and polystyrene in wall construction, it all comes down to budget.
  9. They put card over the timbers now, as well as leaving a cavity between the felt and foam for airflow. Still wouldn't use it in my house.
  10. Polystyrene between the studs and sheet over the top Francie, you can buy the polystyrene in 8 x 4 sheets of varying thicknesses, far cheaper than kingspan and plenty good enough for a shed.
  11. Have you building paper between the stud and the outside cladding Francie.
  12. How did you get on wilf? Was wild up this way so guessing it was a tad blustery down there with you.
  13. Trees down everywhere here as well chid, was rough from 7 to 9 although it's still blowing hard at the minute. Fencers and roofers are gonna make a fortune. Lol.
  14. Strongest winds I've ever experienced here in Tyrone,
  15. Really rough here at the minute and still 2 hours away from the worst of it.
  16. What's lads opinions on Trump and the Ukraine conflict? Do you think he'll be able to get a handle on it.
  17. If I didn't already know you're from NI I would have after reading that. .
  18. It's f***ing tragic what happened and is probably still happening to those kids. Just makes me detest politicians even more if that was possible after reading that. In a perfect world every person in a position of authority that turned a blind eye to the abuse would get their necks stretched instead they probably got a promotion and a pay rise.
  19. Yea probably a placebo or could of been the 3 times my normal daily calorie intake I've been consuming this past fortnight. Lol.
  20. I'd agree that once it gets a hold it has to run it's course, but I also think if you can get something into you at the very first sign and give your immune system a boot up the ass it also helps with how bad the symptoms are. I'm probably wrong but it's worth a lash to try and keep us on our feet.
  21. why the laughing face borr lol, do you not think home remedies can help keep colds and flu at bay?
  22. Started feeling a bit iffy over Christmas, tickle in the throat and a bit achy thought Im coming down with the flu then the wife sprung into action, tumeric ginger garlic lemon juice and zest black pepper and few other ingredients, half a glass in the morning and evening and doubled up the vitamin D and thankfully it's done the trick and it came to nothing, 2 of the kids had the same symptoms and the home remedy knocked it on the head.
  23. There's a little spit of a pond surrounded by hilly ground a stones throw from here that I feel very connected to, caught my first fish there while on my own as a kid, ferreted and snared rabbits with my ole fella and brothers in the hedgerows, lamped it with my first lurcher, dug and bolted foxes with my first terriers all in the little hills surrounding that little pond. A place that has a calming effect that I can easily waste a few hours away in and still do regularly.
