Er, the point was that even on good winds those fibre-glass jobs have only got to move slightly in the basket to play a tune that will alert the close feeders, hazel is first choice for availability and it is also the quietest that i have found. I often work on my own and as hard as you try some sticks shift in the basket. get shot of the basket

Noise!!!! of the pegs!!!!! at the end of the day the wind is the netters friend !!!! I personally work with a two man team!! strange how when walking up to a set the guy in front alwayse seems the noisest bugger!!!

better setting the net on 6 uprights ! keeps the lines taut. call me old fashioned but i use hazel,nice and light and costs feck all. still use them in a basket no probs. (perhaps im just a tight a*!e huh) 100% in agreement there mole catcher hazel for me (ALWAYS).

Hand made Hemp Nets are great to work with in the field, there heavy going when wet so I would advise making your net with 3ply hemp. As for nylon thers plenty of good spun types of twines that handel like Hemp but are less weight when wet so a lot kinder on your arms when picking up.

The correct killing mesh of a long net should be 4 1/2 " full stretched diamond mesh so you can achieive a good killing net of only 12 mesh deep provideing there is plenty of running slack, the smaller the mesh size I would advise to make the net a mesh or two deeper, I.E. 4 " 15 md 4 1/4 14mesh deep but your net must have plenty of running slack I.E. 50yrds set lenght you must at the least knitt 100yrds of net, these sizes are for tradditional long net set ups, Ive never used the quick set method of long netting but I doubt if there is mutch difference in the make up of the nets , mesh sizes

Ask someone to show you the basics of net making, if you stay in the west of scotland area i will be glad to show you how to make all types of nets theres nothing hard about it.

Iam afraid the order book is full at the moment. i cant give you a price quote until I knowe which type of net you would prefer I.E. twine size, single/double strand, double selvage, single selvage, braided selvage ?.as you need some more nets and fast i would advise you to just by in sheet netting, sorry I cant help you out at this time. You can source Mist nets here in the U.K. contact one of the many inshore fishing gear suppliers and ask for spratt netting its made from 1z nylon its as fine as the hairs on your arms and does the job.

IAM afraid you are wrong about Brindeds spun twines, spun twines differ quite a lot depending on the manufacturer, you get coarse spun, smooth spun(less coarse) spuns with more stretch than others,but Brindeds twines are made by an old Japanese net and twine supplyer called the NAGAURA NET CO, there nets and twines are made of 100% Toray Nylon , how do I knowe this you might ask, well I have been involved in the netting game for a helluva long time plus Brinded gets his gear from a NAGAURA agent hear in the U.K. As for brindeds twines being shite! well at the end of the day spun twines were ma

Get someone to show you how to make your own, its a lot cheaper, dont waste your money on sheet netting its only usefull for long nets.
