  4. try telling any landowner your not going to control rabbits in summer, as it spoils nexts years sport, and you could well find someone else with permission, rabbits are pests, and the time they really need controlling, some totally stop, whether its ferreting, hawking, lamping, trapping etc, it still goes on, you still going to be culling pregnant or milky does remember, your sport is someones livleyhood As you have quite rightly said depends on the land owner some want it, some new "clever" farmers don't. i have some farmers i have to go all year round just keep the permission other
  5. hi all, Myself, i would carry on, same as always.... big coat, big pockets, nets and ferts in a bag. Been going on for hundreds of years in this country long before the anti mob were on the scene. I have also practised the fine art in two or three EU country's, where i was living, which require a hunting permit, on the sly like just a matter of adaptation In good old Germany and Bulgaria i was seen as something of a novelty in the hunting community especially when you show the right people how to knit purse and long nets let alone bringing an "English" lurcher into the equation. Same

  10. Hello all, Silver, albino, poley does not matter as long as they do what they supposed to do Been breeding for a fair few years now and have noticed no difference in working ability just because of colour. Falconers prefer albino or white because of the birds recognising ferret verses prey so the Falconer that i work with says I put a silver hob over a honey coloured late last year and got one honey two polecat one white black eyed and one albino with red eyes (best worker out of the lot as it turns out) the polecats were very polecatty if you know what i mean. There was a th

  12. I reckon prey drive is the speed and heart to catch and prey sense is the ability to learn how to catch if you know what i mean you won't get far putting a drag racing car on a f1 track cheerio anton

  14. Hi all, Just my tuppence worth.... The two running dogs i have at the mo are like chalk and cheese. The dog collie x grey x whippet good on lamp loads of "prey drive" won't stop till he drops only use him for open spaces and lamping.he was started quite young. The bitch Grey x Collie with deffo more collie than grey, brilliant marker. "prey drive" ok "prey sense" brilliant she's only used for ferreting have started her late with 18 months and it's paid off well. The thing is there is no way that i could swap roles with the dogs and would not want to as the two work together very
