HAHAHAHAHAHA you funny c**t,the tail will be off the saluki if you think them dogs have saluki tails or have evern thrown saluki you are seriously off youre head,, i commented on these dogs a few months ago and i said they would make heavy dogs, i got told i was talking shite, so here we are 2 months later and yep there going to be heavy set dogs thats why i asked if he was sure on the breeding. the guy states they are salukixcolliexgreyhound. but which way bred. if thats is correct i would guess dam is first cross saluki/collie, thrown more collie, and the sire to be greyhound, an

Never owned one but from what ive seen they tend to be a bit mad in on stuff, and prone to injury, wont have the stamina of other crosses either, fast twitch sprint machines, sometimes the fastest dogs dont catch the most stuff, they tend to miss a fair bit, i prefer a dog with gears.
-
They are going to be heavy set dogs mate with fair bone on them, are you sure on there cross mate, did you see sire and dam, they got tails like bazil brush, no offence.

You obviously havent seen one in action brought up by a good owner, half the people who own saluki or saluki xs are the ones at fault not the dogs, they just stick them in the pen for days on end, and take them out straight on the back of a hare reling on the salukis natural stamina and prey drive to compensate for the lack of effort in getting there dogs fit, someone who spends time and effort with there saluki or saluki x will have a total different dog altogether, you get out of a dog what you put into it, and that shows in the field, just with the saluki x you will have to put that extra t

Are brains an over rated quality in a lurcher
merle24 replied to Casso's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Brains is a good point in a lurcher and the collie blood will make a more easily trained type of animal imo. But to be honest most lurcher types will start to use there head and clue up on the job in hand the more there worked. Going back to the collie blooded lurchers, imo if you get a good collie grey they will be hard to beat as a allround dog, 3/4 grey 1/4 collie would be my choice, but if you get one which throws a strong collie head they can be very stuborn and frustrating. I had a collie grey prick eared type, and started him on the lamp at 10 months old, he took to the lamp like se -

There is not that much saluki in the makeup of youre dog mate, imo oppinion a shock collar is not the way to go with training a dog with a fair amount of saluki in its makeup, more likely to work against you imo. better to work with them than try to force them from what i have witnessed, they dont react well to harsh treatment imo. merle sorry, i dont quite get what you mean on the above comment??? my pup is a saluki whippet grey x saluki grey so with the help of my o/h and txting the lad i bought him off we have worked out he is just under half saluki and half grey with around an 1/8 wh

A saluki,, and a shock collar,, . whats wrong with a saluki x and a shock collar?? you only shock it once or twice then use the beep beep thing on the side it breaks the "gaze" as it remembers the shock it got and it then listens to you, let me guess you know best though, even though i have kept on at it for a month now and he is coming on leaps and bounds (plus i have only shocked him twice!!!) i bet you by the time mine is matured (14-15 month) he will be obidiant as any of the other dogs i have/had maybe even as good as my mates saluki collie whippet grey or his saluki bull greyhound

Hi mate hows the pup doing,, I reckon them salukis are very clever and very sensitive dogs ancient breed left to roam and do there own thing, to get best out of them i think you need them either in the house with you, or if in the pen they need to be out and about with you everyday, think they need that bond and they respond more to familiar actions than word commands, imo they are far less domesticated and closer to the wild side than most other breeds, for this reason its only fair we should meet them halfway, my mate has a pure saluki dog, 4 month old now i think, goes eveywhere with him an

Thats wright mate, people posting there catches on here in summer, where are there bragging post now ??????? dogs get used to the easy summer rabs and levs and when it comes to winter when the cover is down and stuff gets harder to wrap up and catch there dogs catch f**k all worth posting, the odd mooch with a young dog or pup for a COUPLE of easy kills to get its gob going is ok, but lads that hunt all yearound are just idiots with shit dogs imo, half the time come the season winter you will see there dogs up in the forsale section. Just look come winter how many people are selling dogs

GOOD and NOT AS good in all crosses, the man behind the dog is more likely to be the missing link IMO.
