  1. Differs from dog to dog imo. what youre running and what land youre running on.
  2. There will be a few drowned bunnies on there lol.
  3. yes mate feed them at mid day.which its that time now one of the boys are barking now cos he knows its feed time and he won't stop barking till he gets is grub so time to go and do the duties.atb hl. There may lay the prolem mate ?, its a good way to slug a dog down before a race, same goes for coursing or lamping, knocks the edge wright off my dog, he still runs and catches, but hes nowhere near as sharp when hes had a feed earlier in the day, when he does go out once hes had feed he will run CLOSE stuff ok, but when there is a distance between him and the quarry he will run it halfhea
  4. no mate she's a foxhound bull grayhound.pic of her at 7mth cheers atb hl Picture shows that, plenty enough sighthound in her to run for bunnies.
  5. The c.w tiptoe around political correctness, they need to grow some balls, and stand strong for all feild sports, if they publish articles on fox hunting and hare courseing then why not deer hunting or badger digging, i understand that they have to be pretty carefull not to blatantly create a reaction from antis etc but if its in legal context ie preban or overseas then why not ? Maybe its because the majouraty of people who by c.w are toffie nosed twats who are trying to wrap there own yet to be banned sport up in cotton wool. These folk wouldnt agree with such carryon as it may jeperdise the

  7. i havnt a clue whin, iam not a book on the history of the lurcher i had the choice of 2 good pups out of the right stuff and i took them, at the time it was from a mutual friend of a moderators on here and they where going for £250 a pup but to a civil servant £100 hope no bribery was intended, Ahhh, a copper speaking about owning hare courseing line bred dogs on a open forum at the time of a ban strange.
  8. No disrespect to the guy or his dog, but i just find it hard to beleave the reverse cross come to terms with proper winter hares, even half crosses (collie/grey etc) will be hard pushed to do so but will still catch the odd hare that makes a silly mistake or is a nieve young un, lamping them increases the odds as there far easier in general to catch on the lamp but once theyve been ran a few times on the lamp hares zoom just like in the day even more so in some cases.
  9. Iam not the one saying silly things about a reverse 3/4 bred dog mate, such a dog would not be able to come to terms with a FIT WINTER HARE in the day or even one that runs well on the lamp as some do, you say you have loads of hares near you and i would put money on it that youre claims are out of season on rough ground lamping half grown hares, i would like to see pics of this super reverse 3/4 bred dog. not sacrcasim mate just keeping it real. atb.
  10. Oh dear know ive heard it all a reverse 3/4 cross doing hares north to south, feild and fen, get real, youre talking about lamped hares mate, were they leverets or milky dows
  11. Sounds like the dog has thrown more to the longdog blood than the herding side of things, the way you describes it sounds more like a first cross. so iam not surprised it can catch a few. I would be interested to see the land on which this dog has caught 9 hares in one night, were they boxed in by stone walls by any chance ? and by night i take it you mean lamping, not being funny mate but keep it real eh, lamping hares aint cricket and nothing to brag about, especilly over rough hilly stoned wall ground, like in lancashire.
  12. Your more guilty than most regarding your above statement ...you have very one sided views Untrue, IMO reverse 3/4 cross is to slow for most land and quarry, where i hunt they wouldnt catch a cold, a waste of kennel space iam affraid,, if you run them over shite slow ground where the quarry carnt hit the gears then you may catch a few, but a first half x would catch more imo. hence the reason why i said that i depends on the ground you are hunting. i cannot for the life of me see the point in the reverse 3/4 cross, as opposed to a halfcross, can you ?
  13. Did you feed her during the day before you took her out on the lamp ?
  14. Is she spotting the far slips mate ? if she is she maybe clueing up pretty fast maybe shes missed a few to many long slips into cover at a young age, is she a collie cross by any chance ?
  15. Yes i agree with you there mate a good base is a must, and like you say alot stuff is bred from failed track grehounds as they are easily to get hold of, the coursing the greyhound would be a far better option imo to cover, but they are few and far between especially with the courseing ban. But is the grey just there for the speed, and would even a below average track grey chuck us plenty enough speed for what we want ?
  16. Interesting, i know that bull breeds have a high pain tolerance, but they need is because of the way they go about the job, deerhoundgreyhound maywell go about the job in a way that minimises damage to themselves.
  17. So a good deerhound greyhound carnt take all quarry well ???? not saying that mate, just dont think they make "all rounders" i personally dont think many dogs do, and the 1's that genereally make the all rounder grade are bitza's imo Youre not a beleaver in hybrid vigour then ? sorry that question lost me??? but i do believe in hybrid physical strengh Hybrid vigour, the crossing of two breeds (of the same animal ie dogs) which are very far apart in the kainine world, to produce a hybrid that excells both parent types physical, ie the salukigreyhound, deerhoundgre

  21. This is not a topic to create a argument or breed wars, just to get peoples oppinions on the above crosses when being used for allround dogs, big(pre ban) and small fur. I have noticed that the bull x has become a very popular cross in the past few years in particular, and the deerhound greyhound has become less and less popular or common. Is this due to the fact that the bullx is a better breed at the job or easier to enter to quarry or just because the decent deerhound blood is becoming very rare and harder to get hold of. The deerhound greyhounds used to be very common and highly rated o
