  1. Thanks for all the replies. I think it will be hard to train 2 dogs. I was going to train them. Both separately anyway but thinking about it it will take far too much time. I've been trying some stuff out and managed to get one to sit on command within 5 mins and now when he sees me he comes and sits at my feet. The other is a bit less interested. I couldnt possibly rehome one of them. They are also going to be pets for the family. So perhaps just concentrate on training the one thats already responding and leave the other as a pet. Would that work? And could they still live happily together?
  2. I probably wouldnt have choose them either but had to keep the mrs. happy aswell and they were the only dogs she'd go for... sounds like you need to man up an show your missis whos the boss . . . . atb She is... haha... But in a serious note, Is it possible and where do I start?

  4. Hi, I have just bought 2 10 week old male border collies and was wondering if they could be trained to retrieve? I hear they are pretty inteligent dogs and can turn their paw to most things.. If so whats the best time to start training? I have bought a 210.5 whistle and a puppy dummy to begin with.. I have no experience with training dogs so sorry if I sound a bit stupid.. lol Thanks Shaun
  5. Well I fully admit, I have been in more than my fair share of trouble over the years and im the first one to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. Maybe now is the time to grow up and move on. I really enjoy clay shooting and would love to have a try at some pheasants one day but for the minute I have to accept my past life style is going to hold me back for a while.. I now have a 4 year old son and i have my own business so things are looking up, I just need to lay off the mad sessions and im sure everything will work out ok in the future..
  6. A lot of views all pointing to the same thing really.. I fully understand where your all coming from.. Been able to own a fire arm of any kind is a big responsibility and I understand why I wouldnt be fit at the moment... Maybe if i keep going to the gun club regular for the next 5 years and keep my nose clean I might have a chance.. No more wild nights out in town for me though.. I spoke to BASC and they said i might have a chance if the custody report doesnt say I was drunk but he also said thats a pretty slim chance..
  7. Great stuff.... I just woke up in the morning and the custody seargant took my prints and pic & gave me my things and showed me the door... Didnt even get an interview... Think I jut had to sleep off the beer I had drunk.... Although the 2 police that nicked me were right T**TS.. They were wragging me about in the back of the car twisting my cuffs, smashing my head off the door and allsorts, said I was resisting arrest... Quite how sitting there in cuffs ment i was resisting is beyond me... One of them pinned me down and said "i will make sure u never get your sgc" I mentioned all this
  8. Hi, I was refused my SGC bout 2 years ago saying I had an underlying trend for excess alcohol consumption.. He took into accoung the following : 2003 - Drink Driving conviction 2003 - arrest for 2 public order offences (as bound over for 12 months at court) 2007 - caution for section 47 assault I also put the local pub landlady down as my reference which maybe didnt help much I as advised by basc to give it a while and try again... I have joined a local gun club and have been shooting regular up there and the owner said he would be my referee.. All was looking good untill
  9. Im going sunday too, staying in hotel so I can have a few beers aswell..
  10. Thanks for the replys, I looked on the general license today and 'air gun ant' is correct, the lesser black-backed gull is the only one left on the general licence.. The guy is going to let me know what gulls they are.. If there the lesser black-backed gull I will try find someone in the area willing to have a go.. I would imagine shooting a few isnt going to make much difference though as id imagine there is thousands in the area..
  11. Very interesting information.. I remember catching crays in the park pond as a kid.. Think I might have to give it a go using this info.. How would I go about finding suitable waters around here? (Halifax, West Yorks) And how would I go about getting permission?
  12. This is my idea: To whom it may concerm, We are looking in the local area for areas with rabbit problems that we are able to deal with. We offer this free of charge and we usually come during darkness or at dusk or dawn when rabbits are most active. We use air rifles to dispatch rabbits and we are fully insured up to £2,000,000 in the unlikely event of any accident. If this may be of interest to you please contact me and I can come up to see you Many thanks
  13. I am in the process of building a list up of all the possible permissions in my local area, some im gonna email some im gonna post letters to.. Could some one give me an idea of the wording? Thanks Shaun
  14. Thanks for all your replys.. I will mention harris hawk to him.. Thought I might be able to use it as an excuse to talk the mrs into letting me buy another harris but shes having none of it.. haha..
  15. Just came across this website on the internet www.rabbitcontrol.net Looks very impressive but do people actually pay for this when there is so many people out there willing to do it for free for a bit of sport?
  16. Thanks for that mate.. Can they not be shot?
  17. I have a friend who lives near blackpool with about half an acre of land where he keeps ducks.. When the ducks have ducklings the seagulls swoop in and take them and hes asked me if I know what to do to stop them.. I dont have a clue, so hoping someone can help me out here? what options does he have and is it likely to be expensive? Thanks Shaun
  18. hi Shaun a must is insurance! have you sent any lettrs out? also its just not farmers. try these places horse paddocks, hotels, football grounds, rugby grounds, industrial estates, business parks, golf courses, cemeteries, manor houses, country clubs, riding shcools, Pig farms, ect..ect......... hope this helps! regards Davy Never looked at it that way mate.. Will send out some letters out and see where it gets me.. I play a bit of golf too so will have a word with some of the clubs aswell.. Thanks for that...
  19. Hi, Have just dusted off the air rifle now the summer is coming to an end and am going to try get some permission. Im a member of BASC so have the insurance (im presuming that helps). How do I go about finding permission? I live in Halifax, West yorkshire and we're not short of fields around here.. Thanks Shaun
  20. Then why did you read the whole thing? I think this topic is sad and ponitless since he has no care for the way the sport should be done. I didnt I skipped to the last page to see if the topic starter had got over his pointless idea.. There is plenty of fields around that have a population of rabbits, why not just shoot them there for the sport instead of causing them un necessary stress in been caught and relocated all to just be shot anyway.. Pointless..
  21. Is it just me or is this topic boaring as F**K?? got board of reading after the forst 3 pages.. haha
  22. I will be there with the Bitch (not the dog) lol :-p
