  1. As the title says, I have one of the SMK XS36-1.22 underlever not sure what to make of it, only shooting at 10 yards accross the garden with the open sights. It seems ok. Just ordered a scope for it so should make it easier to land a pellet in the right place and start moving to longer ranges. Is there anything that can be done to tune these rifles up?
  2. But will it do the job for popping a few rabbits? YUP Certainly will Don't let others give you their snobbish opinion. Try for yourself I've had cheap and nasty all of my life and have put more in the bag than th equivelent costing thousands of pounds You can put just as much, if not more in the bag with a cheepie than a combo costing £2K Phantom Cheers mate, I will whack it on as soon as it comes, get it zeroed and see how it goes then.. I thought Hawke were an ok make anyway? I was looking at the SMK scopes but I thought they looked quite ta

  5. Sorry maybe I explained myself wrong.. I ment I will cast into the corner from where my peg is. I will have the deadbait rod sitting along side the rod im fishing for the smaller fish with.
  6. Hi guys, Looking for a few setup tips for dead baiting. I have only ever fished with the spinner. Im going to our local course lake where i know there is loads of pike. If I can get the same spot as last week I will be set up float fishing the bottom about 10' deep. Caught loads of pearch last time on maggots. But where im hoping to sit is the last peg before the lake corner and its all full of reeds and is around 8 - 10' deep right in the corner so Im thinking of setting up a dead bait rig and leaving it there all day while im filling my keepnet up with roach and pearch. Whats the best way to
  7. Cheers for the permission slip matey.. Have an SP on me..
  8. Hi guys, There is a small field by my house that I drive past regularly and there always seems to be rabbits on there. Its just off a country lane, with a house directly opposite, not sure it this is the land owners house or not. I was wondering whats the best way to ask about the possibility of clearing their rabbits? Could I put a note on the gate for att. of the land owner? if so what should It say? I have no idea who they are, they may like rabbits for all I know.. Thanks Shaun
  9. I agree, Its great to see the excitement they have.. Hes only 2 1/2 year old and hes well into it already.. I only get to spend the full weekend with him every other week, he lives with his mum so we try make the most of it while we can.. Although I would take him fishing every day if I could..
  10. I had my little lad out with me today.. He loves it, gets really excited when we get one on.. Hes only 2 so he done quite understand what to do on his own just yet so need a little help, He wants to wind in the reel all the time..
  11. Heres the pic of the smallest one. It didnt appear in the original post for some reason..
  12. Decided to go for an hour with the little lad on the local river, well its more of a stream really quite small and shallow. Set up with the usual float and worm setup, was a bit slow at first and little lad was getting a bit restless when we pulled out the smallest trout of the day. Little lad was well excited then "wanna catch a bigger one daddy" he said so on went another worm and we tried again. after about 15 mins or so float shot under again and this one felt a bit bigger. Then he jumped out the water and flew through the air about 6 foot upstream. Got the net in and pulled him
  13. Right I have managed to make up something adding another 2 - 3 mm to the blade on the front sight, I have set the zero at 10 yards and its spot on now, it left me with a bit of play downwards on the rear sight aswell.. now to move to 20 yards and see what happens..
  14. Cheers fot that mate.. What would be the best range to set the zero at? The rifle is a SMK XS36-1.22 and the spec says its approx 560fps
  15. 'we' been the mrs. She refuses to have anything to do with a firearm.. She wants noting to do with the humane dispatch side of it.. She understands it has to be done but she wouldnt be able to be there to see it nevermind actually hold the pistol and do it.
  16. I was told by the vet that the captive bolt guns are not suitable for the larger species (horses, bulls etc) and he said people tend to use a revolving pistol or similar..
  17. Hi, Im looking for some advice. Applied for a shotgun certificate in december last year and was refused due to alcohol related previous. (caution for assault 2 years ago, drink driving 7 years ago and a public order offence also 7 years ago.) The chief officer said there was an underlying trend for excess alcohol consumption and such people anr not to be entrusted with firearms, he then went on to say it was unlikely that any future application would be seen in a good light untill such time as I have displayed a long term of exemplary behaviour.. I have recently started up a waste management b
  18. Hi mate, The front sight is fixed but there is 2 retaining nuts either end and the blade can be removed, its just like a ring with a blade sticking up, no way to lenghthen it but im sure I could get another made up.. would that work? Yes it would. If you can raise the front sight it'll lower the line of the barrel in relation to your sight line so it will bring the point of impact down. 2 or 3 mil sould be about right from what you've said to bring the sight back in to it's proper adjustment. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Cheers mate i will have a go at tha

  20. What sort of distances? doubt i would shoot owt live above 20 yards anyway
  21. Hi thanks for your reply, I set it to the lowest point but if I raise it higher the shots land higher..
  22. Hi mate, Thanks for your reply. So is it basicly a case of practice and learn where I need to aim at each given range to land the pellet in the right place? I can now aim correctly at 10 yards and land the pellet where I want it aiming 2 inch below. I have no idea what the pellets weigh, they are milbro jet pellets that I have just been using for a bit of target shooting. I think I would be better with a scope fitted so once funds will allow I will invest in one.
  23. Hi guys.. Got my new rear sight today (thanks to gurtwurz, top bloke) but Im having trouble sighting it up.. Have set up a target at a measured 10yrds, set up a table with a few pillows to rest the rifle on to keep it steady.. I have set the windage so the groups are spot on on the line where I want them, but it is shooting too high (about 2 inch) and the elevation setting is as low as it goes. its just a cheap rifle, SMK 2.2 underleaver. It had a fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight located at the front of the stock, which I have just replaced having broke the original.. At what ra
