  6. Thanks for that mate. If there is anyone local to me who would show me the ropes I would be willing to learn..
  7. Hi guys, I would quite like to have a go at lamping.. Never done it before, Any tips on getting started? What lamp should I use? Thanks Shaun
  8. The infestation is not as bad as I was lead to believe.. There is none inside at all.. There is a large food source ouside which is where they seem to congregate. Once that is removed then will have to find the nesting site and deal with that.. That will be left to a pro.. Or a load of terriers and smoke machines.. lol
  9. You may be misunderstanding me. I am been paid as a waste management company to remove the waste not deal with the pest control. I was looking for an option to clear some rats first as a 'Free of charge' service. And how would you feel if I was to charge the customer a 'large sum' to do the pest control, and then offer to do the waste disposal for 'free'? It's all very well asking for help if you have a domestic problem, but this is a serious commercial infestation that could have a dramatic effect on local households, and is currently jeopardising the health and safety of your c
  10. Thanks for your reply.. I have to be really carefull what I do because the place is full of methane gas from the rotting food..

  12. I would love the terrier option but I wouldnt think It would be possible because of the large ammounts of methane gas coming off the rotting foor in a confined space. I have been instructed I need to take a respirator just to go have a look around..
  13. Cheers for that mate, Its in Grimsby though... I just want to clear as many as I can before I can move anything, then will get a pest control company in after to sort the rest..
  14. No my insurance would not cover that, but my BASC insurance would. Also how long has an air rifle been classed as a firearm?
  15. That was my idea but the customer knows best, they specifically said they want to get rid of as many rats as possible before anything is moved. Its in an industrial area where there is other food units and 200 yards from residential properties. Said they dont want hundreds of rats running around the place when the food is moved and disturbing them. Maybe I could shoot a few to make it look like i have fullfilled their requirements then just get someone in after the place has been cleaned.. I have no intention of becoming a pest controller for a day. Nor try do something I know nothing abou
  16. Hi guys, after some info please.. Im not a pest controller but need to get rid of some rats.. I run a waste management company and we have been asked to clear a cold store of around 60 tonnes of rotting food. The place is full of rats and we need to have a big cull before we can remove anything. How could I do this? The agent fot the property said he sat there in his car and counted a dosen running around the other day just outside. Someone mentioned shooting with an air rifle. I have an air rifle and im a pretty good shot, would this be viable? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks
  17. That could be interesting, How would I go about doing that?
  18. Thanks for that mate, what is the best way to do the retrieve? Slow, fast, bit of both? stop start? The few pike I have caught have only been small jack pike but wanna try attract a few bigger ones. I used to fish the canal a lot, and the local lake where there is loads of pike, in summer they can be seen basking so I know there defo there but its hard to find where they are and even harder to get one to feed while its basking..
  19. Umm I have a little frogie lure somewhere I might give that a try.. Cheers
  20. Thanks for all the replys, I will look at trying some of them. I seem to have found the ondex spinners seem to catch more for me. Although I have only managed to catch about 4 pike during the time I was doing it (about 6 month). Not done it for a while as I got a bit fed up not catching all the time. I am wanting to get back into it this year though. When is best time to catch them? (time of year, time of day etc)
  21. Hi, Just bought a berkley powerbait blade dancer from game fair.. £2.. Are they anygood for pike? What lures does everyone else seem to have much success on? Thanks Shaun
  22. Thanks for al the help guys, I have had a rifle befire (weihrauch 77 or something i think) but it was about 10 years ago and this is my first rifle since then. Im not too bad with the target shooting, can hit a can with every shot at about 20 yards (cant go further without going to a field as my garden is not that big. Printed some paper targets of crows and rabbits so am gonna have a shot at them and see how I get on and make sure im totally confident that I can get the pellet in the right place before I go for anything live.
  23. Thanks for that mate.. Will just have to give it a try.. The guy in the shop said it would take a rabbit at 60 yards with the pellet in the right place but I guess they all say that..
