Ive just had the same with mine, 1st time breading for me aswell.. She lost her fur aroung her belly and back legs, shes practically bald there now, apparently they pluck their fur to build the nest with not long before the kits are born.. Mine is 2 years old, gave birth lastnight and when I fed her earlier I had a little check, counted atleast 9..

Hi Shaun, dont want to burst your bubble mate but i know a chap who had his firearm cert taken from him because he was convicted with drink driving offences and the letter said he was not a competant person in the eye's of the law to handle firearms, dont know if this will still apply now as this was over 15 years ago but i believe it may be even more strict now, this was in the Glasgow area, good luck mate. yeah they do seem pretty strict.. but my drink driving was 6 years ago.. Surely that could be classed as resonable period..

I've not got a SGC or a FAC but I am a member of a club with a view to getting one of each one day. Do you not think maybe it would be better to do it the other way around and join a club, shoot with rented/club guns for a year and then reapply? Yeah I was just thinking of doing that for a while and see how I get on..

Just got a letter from the chief inspector. They refused my application. he said - in reviewing your application i have taken into account your conviction in november 2003 for driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol, i note that you were arrested in november 2003 for 2 public order offences, and that you were given a police caution in october 2007 for an assault occasioning actual bodily harm. all these incidents display an underlying trend for excess alcohol consumption and such behaviour and disregard for the law is not expected of persons to be trusted to posess shotguns. Thanks for that mate, I'll check out those companies.. I know what I do now is a hobby, but what better way to an enjoyable career than to incorporate a hobby as part of an every day job.. I understand theres a lot of work involved in pest control, and that anything with ferrets and birds would not make up a full time job on their own.. Thanks again for your reply

Hi, I live in West yorkshire and am looking to get into the pest control business.. Either work for someone or be self employed.. I used to keep falcons and harris hawks, I have 6 working ferrets, and I also have my shotgun certificate currently been processed then when required I will be looking to apply for my firearms certificate. I dont claim to know very much about pest control I am wanting to learn all there is to know to enable me to make a successfull career out of it.. Any one got any pointers on how I would go about this? Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has or knows where to get a draft copy of a letter to get signed by the owner of my permission.. I have insurance through countryside allience but I have to have permission in writing.. The permission is for shooting, ferreting, falconry.. Well basicaly anything but killing the cows... Thanks

I think the RSPCA do more harm than good.. they should go back to been run by volunteers, at least they genuinly care about the animals enough to know what there doing..

My 3 jills escaped last winter, When we had the snow, there was little foot prints all over the yard, 2 of them appeared a few hours later at the back when they heard the mrs having a fag.. the 3rd spent the day sleeping in next doors shed until it heard my voice then reapeared bouncing around the corner like a little puppy.. I think their curiosity leads them off but they dont seem to stray too far.. Hope you find her mate..

No, not got mine yet.. ordering it next week.. She said it will be ok as long as I get it and fit it for when she comes back with my license.. She said they normally post the license back but as she needs to see my safe she will bring it round..

I am originally from Wyke.. i live in wrose, near shipley, how long do you recon before we hear anything back from west yorkshire police?? Oh yeah I know that, my auntie used to live by the horse and farrier on kings road and me and my cousin used to ride bikes in that quarry up there as kids.. haha.. umm not sure how long mate, she said about 4 weeks avarage so im guessing around that..

Well that seems to be one of the closest proper clubs to me anyway so I was thinking about joining there when I get sorted with my license and a gun..

Mine got passed to Bradford HQ and the FEO was called Graham. He came round, made him a brew, he asked a few questions about my mistamenas and check my security. He sounded very possitive. He asked why i wanted a SGC, in which i told him im a member of a clay pigeon club in Otley, he was pleased with that as he knows the owner, also he knows my referee. I think ive got a 50/50 chance Well done mate.. sounds good to me... mine went to bradford for checks and that.. Is that clay club the yorkgate gun club?

Your lucky, i havent even had a call or anything!!! FEO came today, all seemed ok.. She said there shouldnt be a problem, lots of people miss cautions as it is the way they worded the question, Stating convictions rather that convictions, cautions and suchlike... The only thing that could be a sticking point is my drink driving (which i declared anyway) but she said from her experience she personally thinks the chief inspector will grant me the certificate with a cautionary letter stating if I am brought the the attention of the police for any arrestable offence my certificate will

Had the call from the FEO today... She said not to worry about the previous and we will chat about it all when she comes to see me.. Shes coming thursday lunchtime...

I rang the FEO today, there was no answer so left a message for her to call me back.. I'll just explain everything to her and tell her I made a mistake.. Other than that i think i just have to wait and see.. Other that my previous that I have mentioned on here I should be seen as a fit person, I have a license to sell alcohol, Which was a pain in the arse to get, I was refused that by one licensing officer and because of my drink driving and had to apply to south yorkshire police instead to get that granted.. Different from a SC i know but still same kind of principals..
