  4. Sorry if this has been covered before but can anyone point me in the right direction for terrier boxes? Many thanks
  5. I'm not sure how useful this is,but over the past few years a number of dogs have been shot around these parts( not much livestock but alot of game rearing) Anyways, one in particular was a GSD last year, shot in the backside (resulting in death) by someone local who had permission on a rabbit shoot( apparently the only thing the dog/owner did wrong was to stumble accross him as she also has permission from the landowner to walk dogs there- he was apparently annoyed because a spaniel he was trying to demonstrate work to someone was messing about) This was reported to Police etc, there was a
  6. Having raised a number of various breeds of pups it does of course vary enormously but i doubt you could over feed rabbit as such- just try and vary the diet as much as you can. The only downside of rabbit as far as i have found is that they are very low fat and if you have a high energy dog or one being worked quite hard they cannot maintain bodyweight on rabbit. Aside that i find them an excellent sourch of nutrition- i would feed rabbit a few times per week but not alone
  7. If cost is an issue in feeding raw ( i couldnt afford to feed all mine from shops) i would recommend asking butchers nicely for their meaty bone scraps and approaching local slaugherhouses . I didnt strike lucky first attempt but after a few months have secured a few sources of good, varied and very cost effective food.
  8. If you cannot leave home for a 4/5 hour each way trip then pity far away it is.
  9. What lovely looking pups pity so far away - best of luck with them
  10. It is a shame you are so far or i might be beating Ally1 to it!!!!
  11. I saw someone advertising them a short while ago- in UK I am sure it was Hunterskennels- somewhere near Gatwick iirc. I know nothing of them but maybe worth looking up the website?
  12. I have 2 staffords which take various things, including rabbits( squatters/out of ditches) Mine will not return to hand, however and eat the first one or two ! I love watching them search things out but mine shall never make useful dogs Good pics
  13. The most immediate danger your pup is probably in right now is dehydration. Two days is along time to be unable to keep food down -usually i follow and period of sickness with a 24 hour fast( but water always) then i expect the dog to be able to start to eat small amounts of normal food If this doesnt happen or the dog looks poorly i would seek vet advice. Just remember young and old dogs can go downhill very quickly
  14. If the timing were differnet i would have loved her- looks like a very useful little dog Best of luck with the sale
  15. Hmmmmm not sure how useful such info sites are Some listed are obviously not suitable for dogs- others are perfectly safe- it is a pity there cannot be control over website content when they state inaccurate advice
  16. Hi there We have fed raw for some time now- with no supplements or veg/rice/pasta etc. If you vary the diet and try and stick to more natural prey items like birds, rabbits, lamb etc you shoudnt go wrong. What i have found useful if they get bunged up is one day meaty bones, the next meat only(mince, offal etc) This usually keeps the dogs "going" ok Be sparing with richer meat - mine do particually well on rabbit and hare which they eat whole I have half a freezer of venison which i am about to start introducing but really dogs can eat most things -it doesnt need to be complicated- so lon
  17. I am 33 and have 5 boys,an AB,2 lurchers and 4 stafford types,plus 4 ferrets i almost wish i did still live at home most days
  18. Beautiful pup, wish i was closer Best of luck
  19. The little ones shall some day be in our place - we have a few of the local kids taking an interest now in ferreting too- it all has to be better than hanging about on the streets or in parks etc
  20. My lad, aged just 5 this evening. Bit gutted he couldnt go shooting with his Dad but got left the important task of puppysitting - just wanted to share this with you- i expect as soon as he can spell he shall be here too
  21. Ours are fed raw only, alternated beween rabbit, chicken wings, carcusses and fine mince with bone. They are fed mid afternoon, the meat leftover taken away first thing in the morning . They appear to be happy and healthy and i guess that is what counts
  22. If there is anything left can you please list it (particually collars and hedge nets)and tell me if you are prepared to post please?
  23. Really liking these pups- if you were not so far away i would have been there by now Best of luck
