  1. Hopefully fish then! I just seen tons of bubbles coming up in the shallows where you can see the bottom.
  2. Yes that's the one. A lot of them bubbles are just coming out from the silt.
  3. It's free - it's not as good as it used to be as the level in it has been lowered about 4 years ago. It was a little heaven before the level was lowered at the sluice by kirkstall abbey iv had 4lbs brown trou, nice chub, roach and lots of gudgeon out of it. It's pants now tho barely caperble of holding the fish it used to as it's too shallow. I think it was lowered to stop flooding at the immigration centre.
  4. I presume for the same reason that the fish passes were installed. Though it wouldn't have held up any fish I shouldn't have thought. I thaught fish could pass this one as it was quite low anyway! It's transformed the river upstream! Not good for the chub now.
  5. I hear saltaire is the place to go for aire barbel I think the book is only £22
  6. If you can't find your rod it's in my garage ha ha!
  7. Yes very sorry the pics are pants I took them on my phone. There was an inaccessible spot and so paddled up I couldent even find a clear foot print to take a pic of! I don't know much about otters but it genuinely looked like what I'd expect from them.
  8. Bloody hell lol! Any idea what the prints and droppings are?
  9. Forgot to add the bottom print pic is almost dog sized but where I was I'd battled through brambles and nettles, climbed down an embankment and they where under an under cut banking so doubt they are from a dog.
  10. Iv just got back from another river exploration and found one of the wiers at my faveroute old chub fishing spot has been removed completely!.... Bit of a surprise! My old chub spots are now gone and only a foot or so deep and flowing very fast!... It's a bit of a shame but at the same time a bit of a blessing as there seemed to be a few trout rising. I could constantly see my lure from as it was so shallow and had a follow off a small brownie and half an hour after that a very big brownie striked and missed my lure 3 times and then the 4th strike hooked it - it was only
  11. Blooming heck saying that iv got a well trusted friend saying he seen one under the dark arches in Leeds centre. I seen lots of brown trout under there too. I used to get all the results handed to me from the electro team. It's a surprising river the aire that's what makes it so interesting. Did they ever get any eels? No eels on any of the reports I saw. Aww well we live in hope! A friend of mine caught one in armley surely the released ones will be half a pound by now?
  12. You spent a lot of time on banks of aire too didn't you! Your one iv thd best river lure anglers I seen! You caught the big perch too!

  15. Hi jdarcy nice to hear about the grayling too didn't know bout them either, I have seen a grayling caught on the aire but it was well upstream at a golf club near keighley I think.
  16. There's some huge perch in the wier sills too. Once had one unweighted but well over 3 lbs and when a bloke asked me if I had owt I said a big perch he laughed and said iv fished this river 20 years there's no perch in here. His face was a picture when I showed him pic.
  17. No iv not fished that stretch if you want bream try back of kirkstall abbey. It's odd you don't get them often but when you do you get several and had them to 4 lbs.
  18. You are quite correct about the 'holt', but it is the worst example of a 'holt' you'll ever encounter, basically a plastic box with 4 foot of plastic pipe leading into it and I would say that it's never had an otter in it! Lots of trout and chub on the river there but there's also billions of minnows. And there's always a hell of a lot of otter trade, should someone know what signs to look for. I actually have photos of the fish passes being made, as well as other areas on the Aire.... They were made late last spring/early summer. Yes the minnows are a pain! Iv live baited them a few times
  19. I not fished it either looks very fast and shallow but seen some nice trout while looking off the bridge.
  20. A link about the fish pass at Rodley........ https://restorerivers.eu/wiki/index.php?title=Case_study%3ARodley_weir_by_pass_channel
  21. Sounds good, do you fish the stretch near the back of railway pub?
  22. That's very interesting I wondered about that what is an otter Holt? Cheers Tom.
  23. It would be nice to think one day the aire would contain salmon again.
