oops yes sorry pressed wrong button!
and then another this time very major problem! the end of the ram will not fit inside the piston its for this gun too. is it normal to need the inside of the piston machining out to fit the ram?
While stripping we came across a problem!.... The spring had snapped and wound itself up the other part of the spring.... Quite amazing it shot how it did! It honestly shot nicely.
hi iv been making wine from wilko kits and they have been great (if left long enough)
while mixing a kit up today it got me wondering if theres any ideas to make wine from supermarket stuff like fruit juice cordials or tinned fruit etc. Iv heard of turbo cider and will give it a go soon. it would be nice to save a few pounds and experiment!
has anyone had a go at making homebrew from stuff other than kits?
cheers
Tom.
a walk, fresh air, relaxation, meat, ferret and dog food, escape from people, a challenge, an opportunity to appreciate wildlife and see the seasons change - more to it than just shooting.
Cheers Deker, so far £68.75 for the ram and postage from john knibbs.
I'm hoping it lands today in time for the bank holiday weekend. I'll do a shot string and 25m group before and after.
well iv ordered one now so ill give it a go! if it fails then no worries its only a mess about gun ill put a spring kit in it. will be nice to experience a gas ram as iv wondered what the difference between them is for years. ill keep that in mind tho and keep an eye out for problems.
Yep just a gas ram its as standard with a spring at the moment. Now planning on fitting the ram instead of a drop in tuning kit. I have been speaking to welsh willy. He doesn't do kits for the lightening xl but if the ram is pants ill be sending him the lightening to take measurements for lightening xl kits and trying that too. Seems a top bloke!
Hi all after buying my recent mess about plinking gun a BSA lightening I am looking to strip it and also have a go at DIY tuning it. its standard at the moment and pretty much untested due to crazy work hours. I am planning on testing it with the standard spring and then maybe buying a drop in tuning kit and polishing it ect.
Iv also been thinking about maybe buying a gas ram instead and giving it a good polishing and installing that, but have no experience with gas ram guns.
whats peoples opinions on gas rams? has anyone one here had the same gun spring powered and converted to gas ra
When I was a young (very daft) teenager i was fishing on the river Aire in kirkstall, with a small toby lure at the bottom of a wier. A bit overly keen to get my lure right into a good looking spot, I walked carefully down the wier at the edge and along the water at the bottom and side of the wier that was literally inches deep. While casting and looking out I slowly and carefully walked out then all of a sudden stepped of a underwater ledge that dropped vertically (hidden in flat calm water that looked safe). I put my hands out to grab the top of the ledge and my left hand went onto god knows
yes im very happy with it! the old owner only put 200 pellets through it so its got plenty of settling to do.
if I can get it shooting spot on I bet it would be a superb compact close range vermin gun and great to use from inside a vehicle too.
when i started unwrapping it I thaught it was in 2 pieces for transport! was shocked at how short it was.
well its arrived and I was pleasantly surprised. It feels solid and weighty and its a nice looking little thing. its even more compact than I expected and the stock looks quality too.
heres a piccy....
i put 20 shots thorough the chrono and the shot string is as follows
1. 530
2. 518
3. 511
