  1. Im just going to stain it Tom i just dont like the dye im going to get the wall nut stain for it and it dose have a good grain in it Tom atvbmac  Sounds a good idea looking forwards to seeing it!
  2. The best bit was always John darling and the best gun had to be the HW80. Combined their tales where epic!
  3. I know exactly what you guys mean - I stopped buying them for the reason they are full of adverts and every gun tested has a positive review and after owning them finding out they where shite lost belief in them. In the olden days it was the only way to stay connected to airgunning having no shooting enthusiast friends as there was no internet. I do hope they continue getting printed in paper format the the Digital era is hitting the print industry hard. In fact iv not seen one in a shop for ages so may get a postal prescription and have another go reading them.
  4. looking good! cant see on pics properly close up (only got mobile phone for internet and no computer so pics are not great) but iv had it where dye didn't take to bits of my stock round the grip on mine where there was still some tough varnish or oil. a sopping wet tea towel and a hot steam iron with plenty of steam and about 10 mins got mine clear. If you do that tho and use a good tea towel bin it afterwards and don't let your wife find out or theres trouble dunno if it will work for you but it did on mine but im an amateur and made it up as i went along! nice grain on there fo
  5. If I was 9 and owned an SMK like that I would have been proud it would have been a lot better than my B2! I know a guy who stripped the varnish off a B2 once and it was filled with wood filler! Simon your HW80 stock is in good hands and look forwards to see how it goes and nick a few finishing tips of you mac! that HW100 stock you did in black looked sh!t hot.
  6. Bloody great mac im soo looking forwards to seeing theese stocks! Refinishing a stock is like a roller coaster full of nerves, and excitement! How your doing it is how I done the few iv done. Nitramose the stock then scrub it with soapy water. Then iron any dents out with a steam iron and wet towel, and then raise the grain several times sanding it to be as smooth as glass. massaging tru-oil in after a good staining. I put disposable gloves on and massage oil into the stock until its dry, over and over again (every 24 hours) until the pores are filled in and its like glass, the AYA to
  7. go on guys would love to hear your thoughts rez
  8. sounds superb. I used to use a rws mod 52 at 22 fpe and that was really hard to use it recoiled to the side so i went fac pcp and since lost touch shooting springers. hearing stories like that warms the heart and definitely want a FAC one day. cheers simon.
  9. No Tom, just no need for it mate. I love the challenge of getting close,- "Real Close" - Fieldcraft. The challenge of "not stretching" sub 12ft/lbs limits, if you will. When pushed hard to take a long range shot, like i know will happen at the new permission, (up to 50 yds) ish, i will do my upmost to make that shot 30yds and under even. If i have no choice out to 50 yds max` - head shots only. atb fair play, very difficult!
  10. good luck sounds very difficult! are you tempted to go FAC air?
  11. Awsome mac This my last refinish job, it's my mates gun I just got him to send me a pic.........
  12. I usually use nitramose to remove the old finnish first it saves some elbow ache!
  13. That sounds superb Simon. The benifits of the hitting power of fac air without the need to refill the gun with air more often than a usual sub 12. Sounds very accurate too but I see your a top spring gun shooter too so that will help! Fac air is underrated, when the pellet hits a bunny with mine it sounds simelar to been hit by a rimfire. I would like to own a fac hw80 one day it's the best of both worlds and on the to do list!
  14. Mint. Your making me want one on ticket! What's it group like at 40 metres?
  15. Cheers! Im getting 11.6 ftlbs with air arms field with about 5 ft per second variation so looks promising. I fitted the john knibbs ram.
  16. I think ill strip it again soon and get it all polished perfectly and fit a new breech seal soon too, It really is an easy gun to work with. I wont compare it to when it had the spring fitted as it was broken but may have another play with a spring kit at a later date if it shoots crap. what do you think of your ram in yours barrywhite? do you prefer the spring or ram? cheers! Tom.
  17. Cheers barrywhite, pretty bad the spring breaking is normal! when I shone a torch into the piston I could see a well hidden sleeve, after a bit of poking away at it I got it out and the ram slid in like a glove (silly me!) after cleaning all the grease on all the parts I then put a light coating on the parts and re assembled and rez wasn't wrong it was mega hard to compress. after a cuppa and a think I made this bodged tool.... A 21mm long reach socket with pin slots ground out of it either side. with a gun slip over the silencer and my body weight onto it using my stomach I si
  18. feckin missed it, i wanted to watch it, will it be repeated do you think .??? watch it on c4od catch up.... http://www.channel4.com/programmes/guy-martins-wall-of-death-live/on-demand/60452-001
  19. that was bloody brilliant! well done guy!
  20. My oh my. And it shot nicely?!?! What the actual f**k. As if. Regarding the fitting, it should fit to be fair mate... how have you managed to compress it? An old ex birds dad did mine for me when I had one fitted to my own Lightening. He had some gear though, he was senior tech at Siemens. It should fit with no machining required. Bang an image up of the area in question. it did shoot nice, low recoil, zero twang cocked smooth just petty inconsistent (see earlier shot string with this spring fitted). it was in mattybugeyes shed when we stripped it and even he was amazed it shot li
