  1. Pretty much agree, all whippets should make workers if entered correctly and I know of several who are bred from showlines but have made excellent dogs in the field, one in particular who is bred from champion show stock is really making his mark as a worker and is also making his mark as a stud dog covering many workingbitches
  2. had a terrier who every day for a week dissapeared from the garden and returned with a buttered scone which he then sat on the back doorstep and ate
  3. Doesn"t need to be jumping any higher yet muscles and bones are still forming as he matures and gains confidence he"ll jump higher mate, with regards to be running/ ferreting well ferreting with nets is fine he"ll learn his trade learning to mark etc my own 15 week old pup was out this last weekend along with her mother and was helping to hold rabbits in the net, her sister is allready marking and has been tried out on her own marking 3 sets that all proved to hold rabbits. They learn plenty at this age BUT you dont push them and when enough is enough you call it a day, as to regards running b

  8. Very good reply, whats his breeding,(how big will he be) because as skycat says you can do some serious damage by doing to much to soon
  9. When I was a lad bull/whippets were very popular in my area and generally made good bushing/ferreting dogs, many where also used at the end of a dig. I suspect though has as allready been said there would be a lot of waistage in a 1st cross litter with many not having the pace to take a bunny on the run

  13. My 1st lurcher greyhound/collie greyhound x saluki took the red fellows consistantly and easily,I allways said if there was a rabbit and a fox on the field he would go for the fox he was 26". His daughter who was 24" was exactly the same,my mates 2 24" saluki bred bitches would also take them though one was far keener than the other.

  20. Hello dougall mate I mean if a particular strain is better than others we would all have one, I have seen great dogs come from average and crap from nearly all breeders talked about on here, I've travelled all over to get so called boss stuff and been let down, my best dogs have been off friends dogs which have shone whilst out working but then all the litter weren't great just one or two if any That could have as much to do with owners

  23. Treatment should include, rest (obvious),cold treatment, compression, and essentially ultrasound, ligament injuries DO take a long time to fully heal at least 12 months but with the correct treatment and bringing on with light exercise your bitch should be back at work far sooner than that dependent on severity of injury.
  24. I did, one of the few posts of any assistance.
