Well today woke up nice and early let the dogs out a wee walk before the kids and wife got up. We where due to go out at lunch time so I said i will walk the dogs down to the field maybe only 100 yards from the house. Anyways spoke to the neighbour and let Zak the pup and the lurcher off all doing they're thing lifted a couple a boards for mice for the pup and looked up and no Zak. Now I'm always very on edge anywhere i go with him regarding letting working dogs off to play but that's usually exactly what this field is the play one for domestic dogs. Anyways, dressed in my decent gear for goi

Before it's a year, I'm just looking for them to know ferrets and livestock and have started jumping and using its nose and outgoing, flip side I'm looking for it to be a happy silly pup. Most happy outgoing pups will venture and be there own little explorers etc naturally, it's the ones who have had a hard time. Been left in a kennel or been heavy handed upon that u see with the head and tail down an a bag off nerves. There's the ones that boil my blood with the owners

Flip side is I have bonded better with her daughter but so frustrating when u see the runs the old girl would have ended. All part and parcel N all part of the love for the sport. What's Everyone's Plans Now Season Has Ended??
johnrussell84 replied to Ryan1993's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I tend to spend some time with the misses and the kids to make up for the days u don't quite make it home at the times u say, or become a stranger in ur own house lol, also like to reflect on some good days some bad an some things that happened that was probably my own fault an not the dogs. Also take a wee minute or two to see some places that have held at certain times an how they've changed in the seasons to plan my route for the season ahead. Happy rest folks im sure a lot have earned it -
As Fat man says lee, just be careful not to compare him to her. And very hard to do but always try put ur own first when easy setts come up. Only saying as I was given a real good bitch when I had a young one an for a while never had the same patience as I knew she could have done it in half the time. The little bitch I took was the only one I've ever taken that was already working. Ul much prefer saying u got them going than saying she was a worker when u got her if u get me. Patience is the key in the dog world an where most give up, good luck with the young ones and bonding with the new one
