  8. thanks for the replies ,that was a good read and very interesting.i posted the same thread on ........... i dont know if you guys saw it but some said there was blokes lamping back in the 1940s and 50s.how far was the beam on the lucas lamps and how long you get out of a car battery. good hunting lads keep on lamping i know i will. good hunting rew

  12. i have just finnished making a fox net out of 10z twisted nylon.its 5ft and is knitted onto 1.5inch rings.they are 3.5 inch knot to knot and are threaded with 2mm draw cord.if your interested pm me,i have enough nylon left for 3 more 5ft nets.£5.00 each and 60p p&p. good hunting rew

  15. i would like to know when lamping with lurchers first started was it the 1960s or 70s or even earlier and what was the amount of rabbits taken in one night or even in one season by one or more lurchers in these early days. was it alot easier then or was it the same as it is today.did most lampers then use home made lamping kits (headlight and motor bike battery even car battery or were there proffesional outfits similar to todays kits.what was the main lurcher used back then or was the dogs used as varied as they are today .it would be very interesting to hear from guys who were lamping fro
  16. thanks mate shes 3/4 greyhound x 1/4 beardie collie,wittons dog is in cracking shape and isa credit to him. very funny ,we got them because they are very cheap for the whole suite and it keeps us dry and warm.thanks again everyone who has replied.ill probably be out again tonight just mooching with the lamp and world.hunters harris hawk.   17. went lamping again last night with world.hunters witton and his mate.we met just after 11:00 and witton took us to some land which he knows.both dogs done ok but there wasnt many rabbits out dew to the heavy rain and lack of wind i think but they both had a few runs each.the first slip was for wittons bitch and after a very good course it was snapped up,wittons mate set of to get the rabbit only to disapper down a hole and had to crawl back out,we were all in stitches apart from him who by now had wet feet but anyway he did well carrying the rabbits .we carried on along a path and we spotted

  20. we decided well have another go at spinning a few rabbits over as on previous occasions we,ve been having a little bad luck especially with the weather and have been coming home either empty handed or with a brace at the most .as bramble seemed to be a little saw on her feet last week i have been walking her for a couple of hours every day or two to build her back up to normal and to harden her pads.so me my dad and world.hunters set of about eight ish which was a little early and on arrival the wind had once again gone dead like last week but we were not to be beaten. after revealing not a t
  21. hi there im thinking of going ferreting tomoz but with the high winds do you think there will be any point with the wind affecting the conies from bolting.any help would be appreciated. good hunting rew
  22. im making some fox nets at the moment with what i think is twisted nylon around the 10z or 12z.it is not so hard to knitt with but all my knots have been doubled up as it helps alot.im guessing they would be fine and not tangle up as much as the 4z but with a few in the bag theres gonna be abit of weight than if you did use 4z or 6z.i would go for hand made (not machine made)6z or go for sheet netting and tie them onto your ring or wire runner. good hunting rew
