Either way... nothing more satisfying than trapping with something made and set with your own hands
true,i have made a net out of just a few nylon threads i put together and cant wait to catch something in it.ive even tried putiing it on the most used hole and still they avoid it. :11: im going to put a few poke nets together and try and catchsomething in them.

NEVER MIND f*****g ABOUT KNITTING WITH 4z 6Z ect
USE SPUN NYLON OR HEMP ONLY HAS TO BE SINGLE
KNOTTED AND MAKES FAR SUPERIOR NETS
got to agree with james b,get some hemp or spun nylon as its so easier to knit and alot easier to use and handles better than 4oz and 6oz nylon whilst ferreting.i am going to make some spun nylon nets next year as it saves you having to dry the hemp nets after every outing when the grounds wet even thou
i think im a little late out of 8oclock but managed to catch the one rabbit after i said yesterday ill make up forit tonight because of the crap night yesterday.we saw it squatting in the field so i slipped bramble, she done her usual stalk and then it rose and headed for a disused barn but bram soon was behind it and picked it up on the run after a 20yrd course.that was the only rabbit we saw all night and so headed home with just the one.
sorry about pic quality

i have done the same,i have started to train my ferrets to recall :11: it sounds pretty pafetic but i think it will come in usefull in the future, and believe me they do come to me and even follow me round the garden when i give a few squeaks with my mouth.i can stand at my back door and call them to my feet then i praise them with a treat.my albino got out the shed the other day and i saw her in the next doors garden so i called her back to me because they is a massive hedge seperating me and next door so i couldnt reach her.i was glad to get her back to me asap as there are many cats around m
it dont taste bad at all,but for the time taken to skin those little feckers and the lack of meat they is,theres not much point.go ahead and try one because they arent bad and iceaz who used to be on this site told me they taste alot much better when layered with a curry sauce then fried :11:

does anyone use bells on there ferrets collar whilst ferreting.does it help bolt the rabbits as i know people used them before the ferret finder to hopefully hurry up the rabbits into bolting so they dont get a lay up.i dont mind having to dig but much prefere it when rabbits are bolting.

the best lamp dog i ever saw would not take sitters. she would walk slowly up the beam and stand about 6 feet away ,one ear erect she wait for the rabbit to move. though not a very fast dog she had the knack of bowling this type of runner over within 10 -15 yards . her best night was 69 rabbits in feb 1978 on the althorp estate northamptonshire. micky
micky ill be interested to know what cross it was.
