  1. lovely pups luke there looking very healthy.what size are they now? good hunting rew
  2. i voted yes as i sold my mrk 1 to buy the mrk 3 as i didnt know my dad had orderd the mrk3 for christmas.well i havent used mine yet but actually got my sister to hide the collar in the garden whilst i was in the house and then i went to find it and so i did very quickly.it is noisey but that can be drained away using some duck tape or by using the pin piont control.next season should be the true test for it. good hunting rew
  3. you can get them easy if you feed them to the car. never took or seen a fox taken by a lurcher as i am more of rabbit catcher myself. but i seriously would of been able to kick a fox up the ass which was snooping around the garden at about 4am in the morning as i was letting the pups out but i chose not to as i didnt want to catch mange so instead i shouted "OI !!!" and it just walked of lol. good hunting rew
  4. i would also say two is enough to be able to work them to there full potential.imo i believe that anymore can be hard work and any less you can have problems. we have got the three lurchers at the moment bramble and the two pups but come the pups first proper season me and my dad are going to put as much time as we can into our pups. but i will never have just the one dog again as you can lose alot of valuable hunting time due to knocked up or injured dogs. good hunting rew
  5. so sorry to hear about your loss mate.RIP jess rew
  6. chester that is one fit looking lurcher mate good hunting rew
  7. im after borrowing a working black eyed white hob to use as a stud to mate my polcat jill to hopefully get a black eyed white jill.you may think why not just buy one,the reason is this will be my jills last ever litter and as she is a good worker and she was my first ever ferret so i would like to keep one from her.she has done very well for me and has proved herself a decant worker, when other ferrets i have been out with have exited the warrens she would stick to the task and keep on top of her rabbit.she also has a very good temperament which i like and after my albino jill passed away today
  8. thanks for the replies.thats a good idea Hairyarsedscotsmen with the whistle to recall your ferrets,do you learn them that buy whistleing when you feed them.i did something very similar with my albino jill ,can call her name and she follows me around the garden.thanks again good hunting rew
  9. good shooting and good pics W.H ,your pups coming on really well i know your well chuffed with him the retrieve of the rabbit was quality.i cant wait for this time next year so we can abit of fun running the pups on these naive rabbits.there would have been some great pics to be had of the chase bram had if it was abit closer but never mind, very unlooky not to catch it probabley down to her bad toe.Do you want to go out tomorrow? good hunting rew
  10. shes certainley a smart looking bitch hope she does the biz for you good hunting rew
  11. i agree with morris you wont go far wrong with a whippet x greyhound as your first lurcher there not stupid by any means did fox and hare pre-ban and a class act on the rabbits. good hunting rew
  12. i believe mines a landrover spade or summat like that about 2ft high.i got mine from an army store.just shop around mate you still got a few weeks before the season starts. good hunting rew

  14. as i am going to have pet insurance for my and my dads pups.would we have to keep the annual injections upto date so it doesnt affect claiming of the pet insurance. good hunting rew
  15. lovely dog you got mate.how old is she now.good luck for the future with her. good hunting rew
  16. thanks for that foxtrack but they were both being fed on rabbit and pheasant about march time and then i changed them onto dried food but they had already started to moult before the change over.i get loads of chicken mince for the pups from landywoods or do you reckon whole carcuses would be better.cheers good hunting rew
  17. heres the one i havent used yet due to me being so quiet lol looks like it will hopefully do the job.we'll see come next september .i prefer this type as it is small and most of my ferreting is poaching so there not so hard to hide. good hunting rew
  18. i would guess she would turn out same size as the other kits given time.it was the second litter i bred and i decided to keep the runt of the litter because i was after a small ferret but she turned out just as big as her mother.now im older and abit wiser i would always prefere to work decant sized jills as with the smaller sized ferrets the rabbits just give them the run about but my biggish sized jills seem to keep the rabbits in one place making it easy to dig to them.good luck with your ferret gibby. good hunting rew
  19. nice one mitch what size longnet poles you using they lookvery small.lovely lurcher aswell. good hunting rew
  20. top man ,the first of many i would say soon you'll be dropping out more net and bagging alot more. couldnt give any advice sorry only ever used one whilst ferreting and only caught the one rabbit so was probabley feeling like you are now, well chuffed i guess. good hunting rew
  21. just wondering what age do you start working your ferrets.cheers did'nt start working mine untill they were two or more but thinking of breeding my polcat ferret who is a very good worker or just buying two.what ever i decide i would like to be working them by the end of the season.starting them on a few three or two holers helped out by my older two jills. good hunting rew
  22. well my 7 year old jill albino ferret has gone totally bald,i decided i would just search on here and read a few books first before i ask .i have heard alot of people say its could be mange ,old age or there hormones messing about but its a little worrying and looks scary.lol.i dont think it is mange as my other jill is ok and they have lived with each other or there life, never been split apart.there hutch and run are cleaned daily and are washed out with disinfectant two or three times a year so i dont think that this is the cause.they are now being fed on dry food but still get pilchards and
