  3. went ferreting on our permision ,took fly and fern who were spot on and showed signs of marking warrens which were proving to be occupied.they had a run on a few bolters but catching was made tricky due to the woodland ,hedges and barbed wire fences but still fly caught two and retrieved well.i was using my new 50yrd quickset longnet for the first time and accounted for 3 rabbits but one was only a few weeks old so we released the young bunny.another three were caught in the purse nets and we had three digs all to nests.looks like we will only be ferreting once more for this season but still a

  11. sunday24th ferreting me and dad went ferreting last sunday ,but we had a young helper (the farmers son) who had never been ferreting before but he went home in the first hour after we caught two in the purse nets .we carried on further round the hedge and bolted a third out of a bolthole we missed,the pups were onto it straight away and fly turned it back into ferns path and she scooped it.we had another bolt into a purse net further round the hedge then pups had a couple more runs through a small wood and just missed them.it was starting to get late so we carried on bolting for the dogs a

  16. fern pinched the muscle in her back four to five week ago whilst lamping and after plenty of rest and road walking for the last couple of weeks things are looking very good.after a long wait we decided to have a couple of runs .she had four runs and spun over two ,she caught the fourth so we called an end to the night. heres fly and fern with four rabbits ,two fly caught on the lamp thursday and two with fern from last night. good hunting rew
  17. another good night out ,storm and fly both ran well to say they are still young ,another two rabbits to put in the 'pups diary' (fly only a couple days over 11 months).i cant wait for next season running both fly and fern and i cant wait to see how storms doing aswell.hopefully some great nights in the future. good hunting rew
  18. cant see nothing wrong with starting a pup on young nieve rabbits more chance of success better than running wise adult rabbits were the pup as no chance which will dishearten it and it may start opening up good hunting rew

    hey im feeding them the dry food at the moment were u from in the uk it is up to you as they are your ferrets but if i was you i wouldn/t just feed them on dry as it cant be as enjoyable as a fresh rabbit with all those different tastes and textures and remember wellbeloved and chudleys you are paying a percentage for the name.your ferrets will work hard for you when you are out ferreting so you should repay them with some fruits of there labour.they really do thrive on fresh meat which they are hunting and i haven/t bolted a bag of wellbeloved or chudleys out of a rabbit warren yet

    we feed mostly rabbit mate but we do feed dry meal in summer helps keep the flys down but remember to provide plenty of water. good hunting rew

  22. your right cymruguy69 'storm' is just a pup and hes doing very well but he did play about on that rabbit to what hes normally like, i think w.h would say the same.will be out tonight lamping with w.h tonight and storm and i will be taking fly so hopefully have something up on the lurcher section tomorrow.cheers dotty good hunting rew
