  1. A good reason to keep salukis pure!!!! They move like a dream! Mark - love Ameerah
  2. What 's the lurcher racing all about? If you take your dogs - don't leave them in the car
  3. I meant to have a word - but the hounds are very aware of the hawks - especially the bitches, they watched them intently. Historically the saluki hunted alongside hawks and followed the birds to the quarry. The hounds stamina meant that they could keep going after the quarry - they follow the hawks who spot and 'point' the prey.
  4. 'some of them can be be thick as poop though' Nope - its as always the owners http://greenwelliesbalertwine.myfreeforum.org/about6803.html last shots not mine but she is a sleek mover
  5. PS http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...13&q=saluki
  6. Salukis have an awful lot to offer. Rabbits - on openland maybe. They are not the ten yard dash you have in the UK. They are bred for stamina and agility. The muscle tone they carry in the genes is the long thin type which is perfect for long runs. If you were after a perfect mix you could add the highly bunched muscle of the greyhound ( muscle structure a bit like a pheasant breast - enough to get them up and away?) So you combine the initial speed of the grey with the amazing agilty and stamina of the saluki...... Biased
  7. Got a parsons to a border due to pup any day now if anyones interested.
  8. The showing classes you mean? Ridiculously small turnout for the classes. Did you enter any? Meant to ask did you stay to the end - just curious to the winner of the sight hound class.......
  9. Are you feeding any kibble? If fed dry that can be seriously dehydrating.. .....
  10. did you go mate I did and a beautiful day it was! Oops repeated by accident...must be overtired
  11. did you go mate Yes I did - beautiful day out and the kids had a great time too. Shame the carpark next door couldn't have sported a spot of lure coursing practise....
  12. Cost wise it is alot cheaper. Especially if you add the odd rabbit to the mix! The chicken pieces which most butchers count as throw aways are a brilliant buy as are the ox heart as muscle meat.
  13. Have to agree with the space issue - not really a long enough run. Is that the norm? Would have like the lure to have been closer to the dogs so the corners were run better.
  14. Does anyone tie their own flies? I keep a variety of gamefowl(jungle fowl. long tails and OEGs) and am interested in the feathers suitabilty for flies. There is a mixture of hard and soft feather for wet and dries. If anyone is interested in giving a trial - could you let me know?
  15. And the best lurcher is...... I am voting for the 1st gen saluki grey cross. Spped agility and endurance classic good looks...
  16. Love those!!!! Beautiful graceful hounds! I suspect I did go on the small lurcher day - typical! Seriously tempted to postpone ferry and revisit Monday
  17. I am that!!! Cheating - staying in Chester for the weekend!
  18. Well dessy i surgest you get your sorry ass down there this year, as yesterday was a great day, and much going on, with plenty of good dogs about. hmmm.... alot of small dogs. Its obviously the ten yard rabbit country. May be different today - dunno how they arranged the classes.... Off to Tilston this afternoon. Want to see some bigger hounds.
  19. Any directions? Tatton was brilliant today so we are off to Tilston tomorrow!
