  1. I am not too sure why the concern for the feathered / smooth gene. Have to confess my total ignorance here I had previously thought the smooth recessive... More to the working angle - the reason the saluki greys are great hounds is the combination of the fat muscle from the grey that gives the short bursts of speed, combined with the sleek thin muscle structure of the saluki that gives athleticism and stamina. More gratuitous photos One smooth deer grizzle one feathered black and tan
  2. Hell the forecast is good and there's lurchers.....I will be there tomorrow with the two saluki pups! Does anyone know the venue for a local sight hound / terrier show in Nantwich Sunday afternoon? Hounds this week.... purely gratuitous
  3. Hi Graham, I am interested to know why you chose the sire? I am interested I guess in the dominant genes that the various breeds leave in the lines. I love the first cross but I am not too sure that further crosses result in a blurring of the lines. If no one want pure lines any more what will happent to the 1st Gen crosses? I keep saluki for their endurance and thin muscle which complement perfectly the grey bunched muscle which provides massive bursts of speed. A bit like flushing a pheasant....
  4. Interesting cross - Patterdales are serious workers and need the work cant say the collies of the terrier underworld - blush so why put with a border??? I have parsons and borders (no longer patters even thought they are superb at what they do I am too over committed in the hound dept) and am not too sure which attributes you are after. Course the m/f matters...the 80/20 rule? but then I breed horses....
  5. I find this forum and info as I sit in UK looking for sight hound long dog venues *bugger* adds to favourites lets salukis out.....
  6. Saturday I would love to see those Saluki coursing Sadly they are still youngsters...7 months But we will still be there! Left the terriers at home - parsons and borders - rat pack patrol...
  7. Can anyone tell me which is the best day to visit? I am over from Co Galway with my two saluki and two kids and it sounds a fantastic event?
