they aint no pitbull but they are fit for purpose ie what they was bred for my pup has a lot of stamina hes walked 2 hours a day and we take his ball he dont get gassed they were bred to run miles originally and that they can certainly do,they are hunting dogs with a great nose bred to hunt boar and deer

Do you not find they lose a lot of ambition over a certain size though ? i just find it hard to believe its possible to put any real kind of condition on a big bulky 90/100 lb dog some of them big protection dogs just seem like visual deterrents to me as opposed to actual useful working dogs.

Think a lot of us older one liked football when we was young. I used to follow West Ham in the Geff Hurst, Martin Peters , Bobby Moor days proper footballers. My parents supported Manchester United and every body else seem to as well so went for West Ham to piss them off and they used to score a lot of goals back then.

But foot ball went down hill for me when they started importing players from abroad and nobody from their home town. Then the falling down in the box if anybody came near them to win a penalty, win a penalty what's that about. Diving like Tom Daily.

I'll watch a international game but league I'm not interested any more.

    Cheers Arry

Thats fair enough we cant pretend the game is as pure and honest as it once was but the trade off for that is we now get to watch some of the greatest players from around the world week in week out.....i dont get these people who rant on about what fairies players are like its some kind of toughman competition....whoever decided footballers should be macho any more than a cricketer or tennis player should be....ive never quite understood that.

You chose the right team to follow anyway mate

Bit of a loner me have a few reliable good mates but spend 95% of my time on my own and got much worse in my older years I used to walk out of school at PE lessons unless it was swimming, guess a lot of it was down to my parents never trusted my old man and never had any form of encouragement from my parents just put out on the street from around 12 to get on with it so was probably the reason I learned to look after myself and not trust others, my own kids are all much more rounded because I encouraged them to take part in as many activity’s as possible girls did gymnastics netball hockey kickboxing son played football kickboxing and fished o lot with me from an early age which he still does a lot

Must have had pals as a kid though mate no ?.....we was all latch key kids round our way " dont come back till its dark " and all that.....you just find a way as kids though dont you, maybe it is just different rules in different areas round our way if you didnt fight, thieve or kick a ball you was looked at as either a bit weird or a bender....not saying thats right of course.

Best thing you can do for a kid today in my opinion, put as many different sports and hobbies in front of them as possible and let them find their own talent and passions.

Madness... Not much else to add really lol

Think the modern term is " game management " ?......cant be conceding 2 goals that late on....and after being 2 nil down as well.....as old Greavsie used to say its a funny old game.

Yep, fair opinion mate…..not saying I agree totally but I don’t think you are metal for holding those views, it’s all reasonable enough.
Very hard to get the nuance of a conversation over in the written word so that’s  why these things get a bit 6s & 7s from time to time.

How’s your little club doing, been meaning to catch up and give them a watch this week but haven’t got round to it.

I know i come across somewhat repetitive about the move mate but to me its behind everything so then when i get into it with yous who wanted it even 7 or 8 years later i just cant see past it........as a good pal of mine puts it, " you took my childhood sweetheart off me,knobbed her,got all your mates to knob her,and then handed her back to me "

Hasnt been the best month with the little club got turned over 2 nil at home to our local rivals last week, just cant seem to get any consistency at the moment we're Brazil one week and Barnet the next.....constant Tuesday - Saturday games isnt helping with the smallish squad we have but the mid table finish we're heading for will do for now

And yes i didnt quite twig there.......cant see it now mate Leverkusen are some side we was unlucky drawing them but who knows eh

    Good post mate.

Obviously you are at the coal face week in/week out but do you think people are “making demands” ?

Yes they are demanding what we already had......sorry Wilf but it will always come back to the move with me.....maybe im just too scarred by it to move on i dont know

Im sure some are because that the nature of football but we have always been a pretty humble lot, so is some of it not just lads who just want to see a bit of football ?

No,its lads who want to see a bit of football that wins games and takes us to " the next level "......thats how yous all described it as i remember......we used to be pretty humble yes,now we have an entitlement.

    7 hours ago, WILF said:

I know we can get all clever about finances and premier league survival and all that, but putting that aside I have always thought that when it comes down to it people from the areas that would be going down the hammers understand what a bit of proper football looks like and how the game should be played…..after all I’d personally say it’s one of the best footballing areas in the country from grass roots up so lads know what they are looking at.

Surely some just want to see the game played “right” (whatever anyones version of that is ?)

I wouldnt disagree.....but that " seeing the game played right " went down the list of priorities when we moved....it got replaced by the thing you are putting aside.......again,its just not our club anymore mate...and we knew it would be like that.

I think it’s Everton fans who have a cheek, they obviously have not studied what Moyes did when he came into that club.

He changed them from a normal team just winning some/loosing some and playing a bit of football into a defensive team who were perennial 10th placers.

f**k all wrong with 10th, but not if you have to sit through 38 games of absolute negative shite every season…..that’s not my cup of tea but if Everton fans like it then that’s down to them.

The things that have happened to Everton came from the level above management, Boardroom level I believe, so basically, those fans are talking out of the jacksy !

I cant speak for them but i understood their logic........an annual 10th or an annual relegation battle, better or worse ?

    8 hours ago, WILF said:

Of course it’s your club, that’s why it’s important to remember the footballing pedigree of that area and the type of football getting played to this day at parks and little non league grounds all over that catchment…..

Its not my club anymore mate....these are my people yes but its no longer our club....we gave it away to the modern fans who were willing to sacrifice the footballing values you describe.

I know we disagree about this point but I don’t think having good facilities has to be at the expense of what you were always famous for, winning things and all that comes with it is nice but you don’t have to loose your soul to do it…..it’s too high a price.

But we dont have good facilities we just have a big flashy ground along with a global brand that makes us attractive to players like Paqueta who should be playing Champions League football.....as big clubs go we are the ultimate bullshitters !

    8 hours ago, WILF said:

Produce youth, try and play some attractive football and let the cards fall where they will…..I don’t think that is “making demands” really mate, imho that’s just being what we always were surely ?

And if that carefree attitude results in relegation we become Leeds or Forest......years and years in darkness before clawing our way back to where we already was.......again,we used to be little fun West Ham doing things our own way producing youth, playing some attractive football letting the cards fall where they will.......now its serious business and we're forced do whatever works.

    8 hours ago, WILF said:

There are plenty of coaches doing well at clubs very similar to us who are playing the game nice, they may not be winning European cups but who cares ?…..the game has to come first imho.

Who cares....yous care, its why we became the club we are.......and what attacking/attractive football type of coach is going to want to come to a club who now have to rigidly ensure above anything else that we dont end up having those funny old relegation battles we had when we used to play good football ?

    8 hours ago, WILF said:

My aspirations as a fan go as far as “play some football”……anyway, I may see you in Dublin and we can bore the arsehole off everyone having this conversation in person ! Lol

aaaarrrrgghhhh !!! this is the thing that drives me mad.....before yous took the love of our lives away from us " becoming a global brand and attracting the worlds best players in order to go to the next level and win a trophy " was the name of the game.......now you just want to play some football again .......aaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh !!

As you can probably tell im slightly damaged mate ....again no offence.......and yes i dare say we'd fill a few cups of rosie over this topic in the real world.

It must of been a case of 'distance lends enchantment ' with the evertonians ,I don't know one efc supporter who was sad to see him go ,he is a shoulder shrug of a manager ,much like Hodgson or Fat Sam ,he will organise a team ,make them hard to beat ,keep them safe ,,BUT sacrifices ambition or  risk ,and there is never attractive football without them ,in the end his negativity wears you down ,some managers make you dream ,he just puts you to sleep .

The lads on the phone in thing had a " be careful what you wish for/grass is always greener " outlook ....it was interesting to listen to as they were knowledgeable fans with a " you lot have changed your tune " attitude regards West Ham.

The reality is we havent changed our tune at all the " new fans " who wanted to be a big club have.....laughably its Moyse who gave THEM everything they wanted but now they dont want him because he doesnt give us what we already had !!

Not heard of that so just looked it up looks nice enough and being early in the season waiters/locals will be all enthusiastic and wont be sick and tired of English people yet

Yeah dont change up too much more than your likely to spend of course or you'll lose out exchanging it back....happy hols and all that.

I only have a very basic knowledge about ground water because my fields have an infestation of rushes and I’m no fan of spraying poison on my fields.

Rushes create their own environment which gives them best chance to thrive and that involves soil and ground water.

So I have spent some time learning about regenerative farm practice in relation to soil etc etc and along with that you get some knowledge of what modern industrial agriculture does to soil structures and what those things mean in reality.

Its all common sense once you know but like most things mate, until you know you don’t think about it.

The spring thing is just common knowledge I would assume, it’s secondary school geography and anyone who has an interest in off grid living and has watched much of that knows about ground springs and how and why they work.

I have springs in my fields.

The only thing I’m an expert in is keep making mistakes ! Lol

Ive got absolutely no idea what your on about but brilliant that is when you hear folk that have taken the time to learn and understand new stuff whether its something you yourself are interested in or not.

Agreed.....maybe it was just our area but i always thought there was something a bit odd about chaps who made a point of telling you they dont like football, its our national sport for a reason what did they do at school when all the other boys were nattering about the footie....same for most of the other subjects you'd either have to be the most boring b*****d in the world or a bit of a loner to not have the yap about lifes topics when around the chaps.

  14. Its funny with Moyse im not too fussed either way whether he stays or go's to be honest i think he's done a brilliant job getting all these " new fans " what they wanted 😉......but now having tasted a bit of European football, nicking a trophy and experiencing the things with your pals you dont think you'll ever experience as a West Ham fan i just feel a bit nonplussed about Moyse now.....as a club we gave up on everything we valued so to now make demands is a bit rich.

On the way home from the game last night i was listening to Talksport and they had at least 3 Everton fans phone in talking about the nights games and all of them said they'd have Moyse back in a heart beat....which when you think of where they've gone since he left them is probably understandable, they was actually taking the piss out of West Ham fans for wanting him gone, with a " who the f**k do they think they are " attitude, which i think is a shame as i always booked us quite similar good traditional old fashioned clubs.....going to tournaments with England over the years i always saw how other fans tended to like West Hams following we was seen as chirpy cockneys always good humoured but realistic about who and what our club is,now since moving grounds i think we're just seen as whingeing pricks who think we're something we're not.

Most chaps of my generation that have been following the club around over years feel the same its just not our club anymore.....Moyse gave us our little experience which we'll always be grateful for but beyond that i/we will just go with the flow now,we'll live and breathe the club and support them as always but hopes and aspirations are different now, again its not our club anymore so do with it what you will.....apologies for a late night ramble just bored out my mind and cant sleep !

Well, Gnash and Wilfy won’t be happy but what a game !

Barnes has looked very good in his last two games, but more injuries for Newcastle.

    Cheers.

Wasnt too disappointed with our lot i thought we had some good spells in the game, probably a fair result Moyse made a few terrible decisions...but then they are only terrible decisions when they dont work i suppose.

Thought the second penalty was absolutely diabolical ,how Philips can get tackled from behind in his own box and the opposing player go's down and gets a penalty for it is a mystery to me....apart from that no complaints really, cracking atmosphere as always in the ground and a good game to watch.

  16. Most of these big dogs look like they'd be blowing out of their arse after 10 minutes proper exertion are they soft bodied or just not blessed genetically......i always felt with pit bulls years ago once you went above about 55/60 lb you lost a lot of drive and desire....they was much harder to condition and you generally lost muscle tone and physical strength and quality the bigger they got....different breeds i know but cant imagine its much different, bigger isnt always better with performance dogs.

  17. Ive eaten in pretty much all the top London restaurants over the years at one time or another and have narrowed it down to a small list of 7 or 8 that i'll use regularly......theres a massive difference between posh and classy ....classy restaurants dont have to be posh but posh restaurants have to be classy and thats where most poncey snobby gaffs get it wrong in my opinion.

with a strong ref frazier would a beaten ali everytime they fought lol

lewis klitschko all use to hit and hold it’s what tall fighters do ain’t it ?

they won’t be no holding any way usyk won’t be charging in it will be a boxing match let’s see who has the better skill

How do you work that out ? Ali had no real size/weight advantage....when he held in the clinch it was for the same reason any fighter holds in the clinch, not to drain his opponent with a 6 inch height and 3 stone weight advantage like Fury does....likewise Lewis/Klitschko were both the same size.....and no holding and hitting is not permitted and shouldnt be tolerated by any decent referee....particularly when one fighter is gaining a significant advantage from doing it.

I remember refs years ago like old Harry Gibbs or Dave Parris would of given you 2 warnings then you're out of there.....a referee is there to not just uphold the rules but also to encourage a good fight.

David Haye destroyed Chisora, Fury was the only one to beat Klitschko without the knockout. One of the shittest title fights I've ever seen.

With a strong referee who wouldnt tolerate Fury's mauling and leaning David Haye for the first 4 rounds would have been an absolute nightmare for Fury .....pinpoint accuracy, decent power,explosive.....on a purely boxer versus puncher match up id have fancied Haye there.

Different type of fighter completely but similar to Usyk/Fury the outcome could depend on the referee....Usyk is a far superior fighter so if Fury's not allowed to use his size advantage because of a strong ref who wont tolerate his antics theres a good chance Fury ends up getting disqualified.

  20. The schoolboy worship a couple of you lads have for Fury is funny as f**k !

I remember us young lads arguing about the Muhammad Ali - Leon Spinks fights as teenagers you look back now and think what a load of old bollocks that was.....history is good like that rivalries that meant so much at the time pan out into insignificance,in 50 years time nobody is going to remember Joshua or Fury they just havent impacted sport enough.

Its funny i often think how the Yanks will look back at this era with embarrassment at what they've done with Wilder.....all the iconic heavyweights they've had through the era's from Dempsey/Marciano/Louis/Ali/Frazier etc etc.....then in this generation such was their desperation to continue ruling heavyweight boxing they threw in a ringer like Wilder

I hope we never see another American heavyweight champion they'll soon lose interest then.

Thought Whitaker looked poor, all the looking the other way etc is for show and adds nothing, he's being heavily pushed and maybe has to keep this cockiness up for the paymasters, but it looks and feels over staged.. no way can he step up a level and carry on like that, Azeez said as much ring side.

Kongo done a proper job on him, really good performance, controlled most of the fight, considering he ahs been in a ring for ages looked really good.

Ive seen Kongo box a few times and he's a neat, very together type of fighter doesnt take many shots but i thought there was a chance Marku would just maul him and outhustle him but Kongo's fitness and movement got him through and he ended up bossing the fight....i was quite looking forward to the Babic/Robinson fight it was always going to be a messy affair....unfortunately we walked into the arena just as they was raising Babic's hand so missed out there.

  22. I had a feeling that was going to be a good scrap and it turned out even better than i thought, really good old fashioned British heavyweight dust up i can only think of maybe the first Danny Williams/ Matt Skelton fight that was better.....2 tough and committed fighters giving it their all i thought Wardley should of got the nod what with the knockdown and the point deduction...it meant Howard Foster who gave it 115 - 112 had Clark winning by 5 or 6 rounds which is pretty bizarre scoring.

Dont like that Ben Whittaker i thought he was pretty average in all honesty....if he cant open up an area title level fighter then maybe stick to basics rather than all the piss takey stuff....and his muggy ring entrance was just vomit inducing.

Hilarious to see all the Albanians put in their place they was jumping about everywhere singing their stupid songs all night then fell silent when a little Bermondsey boy beat their man quite easily i thought.....really good night of boxing in all.
