People are getting into scraps everywhere mate, you know that yourself.

When I was a kid and still lived in London you’d get into scraps with other kids from other schools and other areas on the top of a double decker bus……in those areas trouble is only ever 50yd in front of you on any given day of the week, bloody hell, I don’t need to tell you that.

I have not frequented boozers since I was 24 but even then your community pub was dying out, from what I seen of it people were in there for one reason and one reason only, to get tanked and forget the pressure of life, add 6 pints of Stella and then you really see life’s frustrations surface at the drop of a hat.

From your city wide boy to the Wetherspoons tramps, they are in there because they need it…..they ain’t out for a nice pint of ale, basket of scampi and a chinwag with similarly affable folk, they are there to get a bit pissed.

Just my impression of things of course.

Its only that i was on our way back to the Rotherhithe Tunnel from that London march thing that we even stopped there i wouldnt normally go to boozers off the plot like that as im a bit more selective these days i dont like going where i know nobody but i do think beyond your Wetherspoon type dives pubs have tidied themselves up a bit in recent years and still a lot of tradition to be had....i mean you still dont see many ethnics slipping out for a quick pint do you.

Yes your always going to get bits of trouble where groups of fellas gather but after all said and done we all choose our own company.

    Decent question mate.

My answer is this, I’ve never been to the new place and I’m sure I’d probably hate it with my “bloke who just wants to go football” head on…..that’s being totally honest.

That said, did it need to happen ?……absolutely yes, there’s no other way for clubs except to move forward and I 100% stand behind that……personally I don’t think fan or not a fan comes into that decision, it’s just a reality imho
It was an opportunity I don’t think any club would have turned their nose up at.

I think we have only half done the job as I don’t think we have backed it up properly but that is another conversation really.

So as a Fan, no, not a bit of me.

    As a realist, yes, absolutely.

I don’t dislike our club at all, this is going to sound a bit cringe but there’s still plenty of lads like you and me and I like those people…..I like our dry sense of gallows humour as fans and I like the football heritage of the club and the area.

My last game before I moved was the night cup game against Everton when Adrian scored the winning penalty…..Me, my lad when he was little and my pals….what a night to finish on, how could I dislike that club ?
I intensely dislike Moyes type of football and I laugh at some of the claptrap we come out with as a club but I don’t think that could be called disliking my club could it ?

We ain’t entitled screamers like City or Liverpool fans, we can have a chuckle at getting done in 5-2 at Palace away but we like our football and generally lads from round there know what a bit of proper football looks like.

So I’d say, you have the wrong impression mate, I don’t dislike our club at all, I just dislike shite football.

    Fair answer,appreciated

The reasoning i hear is all very similar......in my more sensible moments when im not slagging off " lads like you who now seem to dislike the very thing you's wanted in the first place "........i can see that it pretty much boils down to a basic " im not that keen on football in general at the highest level anymore " ......and maybe thats the harsh truth that you's who wanted to roll the dice a little bit were actually happier than you thought you were at the time....that subconsciously you took big to mean better and better to mean success whereas in the cold light of day all we've really done is bring ourselves into the modern world of elite level sport in a way we couldnt have done on the football field.....but we're still not going to win trophies hence this last few years with Moyse has been so special for us.

The amount of lads ive asked this question who now say things like " well i quite liked it in the championship "

Reminds me of when some mates came up from London one you know well mate who i have mentioned before and a couple of his brother's and we went to have a drink in a pub in Mexborough to see some other dog lads one called Barney who had a few bulldogs and the local hard man and a few of his mates came up to one of us at the bar and started being a clever feker within a short time the place looked like an heard of elephant's had gone through the gaff with a few of the local idiots wishing they had been more respectful lol. I heard a wile after from a local to the area that these clowns had heard that dog fighters were up from London and fought they would try it on with them.lol

Just to be clear mate the chap you're on about much as i respected and admired him as a dog man we was never friends, ours was a very simple relationship....but yes,he wasnt the type to back away from trouble to be fair.

Same as mate.If it's got f**k all to do with me or mine I keep my nose firmly out of it.Why go jumping in the middle of something that's got nothing to do with you and risk getting sliced up or something nasty squirted in your face.Especially in London where it seems to be the norm to walk about with something I your pocket

Not being arsey mate but im sure i remember you mentioning you're a single dad to a daughter.......you could of stood and watched a young girl getting hurt and sat on your hands ? what if it wasnt a pub what if it was on the street....still " keep my nose out of it " ?....you seem an alright chap to me so im going to say i dont believe you 😉

That’s just your east London prejudice talking ! Lol

Fights and pubs go together like fish and chips, tanked up lads picking silly scraps that in reality they only want to half get into is a national pastime and I personally f***ing loathe all that caper.

I just don’t want to be around these people, both my Brothers had pubs in South London for years but they were no different from pubs in Essex, East London, Central London, Dundee……city and town pubs are completely different to the quiet little country pub run by the retired cozzer.

Theres a reason grown blokes are in a shabby boozer in a shabby part of town getting tanked on a weekday, it’s because they are c**ts mate….worlds full of them.

Nope dont buy it mate ive always liked a pub atmosphere its what English people traditionally do....are some of them shitholes yes of course they are but i cant think of a more natural setting within a city than a good community pub gathering.

Regards prejudice if you want to call it that ok but its simply what ive observed over my lifetime....ive heard Millwall lads openly admit it,even take pride in it.

if a sparrowhawk can get at your birds then it's your fault because they are not secure enough

An aviary isnt safe enough you mean ?.....when i kept birds i found bits of a bird on the floor that had clearly tried to be dragged through centimetre square mesh what should bird lads do only keep them in indoor cages ?

First and foremost, it’s my belief that men of a certain age should avoid pubs…..after 40 your tolerance for c**ts just seems to fade away completely and where’s there’s drink there’s c**ts.

However, in response to your post, absolutely someone should have at least got the girls out the way, I don’t think that’s even a question is it.

Its not a south London thing mate, it’s a boozed up c**ts thing.

As for “oh, shouldn’t have got involved it’s a family thing”, bollocks to that, f**k their family, doing the right thing is just something you do.

    That’s my tuppence worth anyway.

I disagree i think it is a South London thing they just have no respect for property this is a mob who were infamous for trashing their own areas during the footie stuff of the 80's remember.....my sister and her ex husband had a pub round the corner to this one and it was constant......i like to think us over the river would at least take it outside like proper chaps should but they have a safety in numbers attitude in my opinion, neither of these 2 actually wanted to fight as i found out by how easy it was to split them up !

That was the ONLY reason mate....im no Mother Theresa so no problem with the lads scrapping and im certainly no knight in shining armour come to save the day type....but you cant just stand by and watch young girls trying to part grown men like you say,ive got a daughter.

Every man and his dog is going to agree with you. It's completely reasonable.

Then it is just South Londoners then......they was trying to take a " the girls should of stood back,we settle things ourselves round here " attitude......which is all well and good but no c**t pulled the girls back either......bunch of scruffy c**ts.

" just one quick drink its not like it used to be " he says !

  12. Heres the scenario.......you're in a pub you're not overly familiar with in an area you dont often frequent......a fight kicks off between 2 reasonably capable fellas, tables flying etc......every single punter stands there watching and nobody apart from the 2 young girls in their teens/20's behind the bar attempts to split them up,one of who cops an elbow in the face.........you step in dragging them apart ( on your own ) telling one to f**k off that way and the other to f**k off the other way........order restored.

You go back to your drink and 10 minutes later a couple of people come over telling you" it was a family thing and you shouldnt of got involved "........response " well im not gonna stand and watch 2 young girls get battered "....and blah blah blah few words exchanged but no further harm done.......anyone got a view ?

    I f****n hate South London !

If anyone is feeling down and needs a cheer up, simply follow the speculation and statements from our little West Ham about who our new manager may be, who they are talking to etc !

Its amazing, it’s like the media team are just sitting around smoking crack and just sending random posts ! Lol

Yesterday it was Sporting Lisbons head Coach Amorin (spel ?) flown in for talks…….Amorin ?…….Sullivan has more chance of getting Alladding !

Expect to see a constant flow of this nonsense until we land Tony Mowbray !

When i use the phrase " lads like you " im referring to leavers of course, fans who wanted the move......having spoke to loads over the last few years im seeing a distinct pattern so i'll ask you the same mate.

In your heart of hearts are you kicking yourself about the move now ?......having gone from a little club you liked to a big club you dislike , in hindsite do you regret the club moving and everything that comes with it ?

  15. Ive always been a decent Pool player but just cant make the adjustments to Snooker as young lads we used to go to an all night Snooker hall over Bermondsey way it would be full of Chinese taxi drivers betting fortunes on games......being as how popular the game is with them it always surprised me taking so long to see top Chinese players but a few seem to be coming to the front now.

Neil Robertson thats him.....not sure how it works with qualification dont they have to build up ranking points or something to automatically qualify, always seemed a top player that lad.

I always like to witness the iconic sporting venues but yes maybe just an armchair one the Snooker.....a bit like the old Ski Sunday watched with a nice mug of hot tea

  18. The way plod are told to police these type of events is so predictable its almost funny.....deployed in full riot gear, provoking crowds into a reaction, purposely blocking routes all to stop some white people waving flags and celebrating their day......contrastingly,when do you ever see this type of policing on a Saturday Pro Hamas hate march,Just Stop Oil or any of the other lefty socialist groups Palestine/Gaza etc etc  all fully orchestrated for mainstream media to suit their " far right " narrative, disgraceful two tier policing.......we was brought up to fear/respect police....sadly they are now just embarrassing, hang your heads in shame.

Interesting if somewhat predictable little day out.

Yep, nice sensible way of looking at it and I understand that when all is said and done, football is all just opinions wether you are Pele or Pete from the pub……they are all relevant if they ain’t just fantasy nonsense.

You are obviously more familiar with the situation on the ground so I may be way off the mark but I have always been a football optimist in as much as I believe you can achieve good stuff and play nice football with just about any group of players, that way of thinking has dictated how I played, how I coached and how I view football.

I understand it’s a bias but I think you have to have a belief of how you like the game and stick to it and that’s mine.

I see enough talent in the squad for the bones of a decent positive front foot side, I think with that Tim Steidan we have a bloke from a culture willing to do deals that would help with that and if we could just add a coach that had the same mindset then we could be that team that people really want to watch with a style fans can really get behind……a “West Ham way” again ?

I don’t worry about results if I can see a direction, I have always thought that playing good football and doing everything right from back room to on the pitch will eventually reap its own dividends but again, I understand that is just my own belief.

I don’t  think just results on their own are enough, I think it’s a very boring game if we ever get to that…..that is the danger when such financial numbers are involved, you can end up sacrificing the football for the bank balance but to me, the game, the players and the fans have to come first.
I genuinely wouldn’t care much if we won the champions league if we had to do it with 10 men behind the ball playing anti football……I used to religiously watch Italian football in the 90s so I know what locking up at 1-0 looks like and it’s boring.

The game and rules allows teams to be so much more attacking now because that’s what they were designed to do and let’s be honest, who didn’t love the old Brazil mindset of “if you score 2, we will just score 3” ? That is why everyone loved Brazil.

All that said, we will probably end up with some standard name that’s been round the block a million times as a manager and it’s all just business as usual.

I agree about Sullivans recruitment, I think it’s been dodgy and a bit too “bloke down the pub making it up” for my liking…..hopefully that’s where Steidan will earn his money.

Much as i agree that Steidan has been good news for the club in general i dont think in the long run he'll make lads like you happy mate.....and by lads like you i mean lads with an " ideal "

For me the reason it always comes back to the move ( promise i wont go on about it  ) is that we gave up any " ideals " we had about the game of football from an identity point of view, traditions call it what you like......thats not to say we can never play attractive football again it just means our priorities went in a different direction.....a bloke like Steidan has no affiliation to the club we was, infact he doesnt give a monkeys for it and why should he.

Where we are now as a club is one that is genuinely competing.....to now go back and make attractive football a priority just isnt going to happen and i know what you're getting at with a " why cant we do both " kind of attitude but the game has changed now and for better or worse as a club we've now changed with it.

The way you describing playing the game and how you may have coached the game is based on ideals....yes in an ideal world we'd all play and coach like that but it doesnt work at the highest level of sport and the analogy i'll give is one im more familiar with and thats boxing.....in an ideal world every heavyweight would box like Muhammad Ali but Muhammad Ali in todays times of giant heavyweights just couldnt be sucessful.....and yes its wrong, maybe a little bit sentimentally sad....but its the harsh facts of modern top level sport that the right way isnt necessarily the best way.

Kudus isnt as good as Debruyne......nowhere near......so matching player for player like for like all over the pitch will see us getting mullered against better players......where i do agree with you is that playing an " ideal " way against players not as good as our own and getting results should be very achievable and thats where Moyse in my opinion never had a plan B as such......my " ideal " if you like would be playing John Lyall football against Burnley and Luton then playing Moyse football against City and Arsenal........wanna compromise ?

Any breed of dog that’s willing to die in a battle even when the odds are against it is classed as game am I correct or is it only bulldogs that are untitled to the phrase Game

You've had it explained to you mate and you're not having it......you can lead a horse to water and all that.

Once you can grasp the difference between " instincts " and " traits " you will be halfway to understanding gameness.

No that means your little dog is having fun 👍Iv witnessed it mate you are not getting what I’m saying the term Game is not for bulldogs only

So what you are saying is my little dog chasing a ball until he dies isnt game because he is enjoying himself ....you are starting to confuse yourself mate !

If you think a dog who dies during or after battle isnt having fun then again, you have no real understanding of the word.

An old saying i like about gameness is " a truly game dog always thinks he is winning ".

Good post mate, and I think as far as Moyes is concerned that’s exactly the right way to look at it……when all is said and done, it’s just about going to your football.

I was looking yesterday and maybe I’m well behind on something everyone already knows but Slaven Billic assistant manager when he was with us is the head coach of Borrusia Dortmund !

Edin Tzercik or something like that, I would personally love to see a young coach like that or Pep Linjers or if there is another English Eddie Howe type kicking around have a go and see what he could do with a pretty decent starting 11, I know we lack depth but the bones are there now imho.

I dont know enough about foreign coaches mate so not familiar with the names you mention but my worry with a " flair type " coach for want of a better description,is that we just dont have a big enough squad.....some of our fans despise him but im ok with Sullivan but i do think he moves at the wrong times transfer wise,he lets windows go when we should buy and buys when we dont need to.......its like the old West Ham saying " we come down with the Xmas decorations " our good start is usually over by January and for me a lot of that has been about Sullivans timing....only my opinion of course.

My tactical nouse isnt up to much but i do watch football and see how patterns seem to work and the defensively solid Moyse type sides do tend to have a smaller squad of a set regular starting eleven as opposed to the " flair types " who have big squads constantly rotating for whatever the next game requires.....top sides have 2 of every position reasonably close ability wise we still have the old fashioned first choice and second choice....obviously that doesnt mean to say we cant get to that but it would take time....time that could see us become a regular mid/lower league possibly even relegation fighting side again and we just cant go back to that now.....much as some dont like him Moyse has set a standard now and its not going to be easy maintaining it.
