Although I'm not up with rifle shooting (I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong!) I think it's illegal in England to use anything less than .243 on deer. 22 calibres can only be used in scotland for Roe.

I tried rook pie when I was younger, went beating at a small farm shoot and the guy's mum cooked us all dinner, My dad didn't tell me what it was until I'd eaten it. From what I remember it was quite nice, although apparently it's only young rooks that are used (not as strong a flavour), once they hop away from the nest to build up wing muscles then they get pushed out of the tree with drey poles.

Absolutely stunning!!! can't wait till mines old enough to head out and about!! (not that I want to miss anything now) Thank You for sharing that with us!!

All down to preferance, this argument has gone on for as long as the calibres have been available! both have got plus and minus points even for long shots, at 50 yds a .177 pellet will only drop about 2 3/4 inchs where as a .22 pellet will drop almost 6 1/2 inchs!!! but once it gets to that distance the .22 will of lost less velocity, only losing about 150 ft/s but the .177 will of lost over a third of it's velocity. End of the day air rifles are designed for close range pest control and 50yds is a long way to try and place a little piece of lead in a target about the size of a 50p, lots of p

I believe people cross poodles with other dogs because they have hair (like ours) not fur so anyone that is allergic to dogs is fine with poodles. I've always wondered why no one used the miniture ones for ratting/bushing, they've got a decent thick coat, and their shaped like a small whippet so should be pretty quick and their the nastiest little ankle biters your going to meet!!

Thanks Charlotte, If you could send me details that would be great, it's on the M5 so perfect for travelling and it's near the welsh border, so could be a great place to stop off on the way up (I'm in south somerset). Did you need my email address? I've had 'adventurous' food before, from deep fried locusts to pan fried ants with chile and lemon grass! We eat rabbit on a regular basis and I've tried Squirrel once - can't say I enjoyed it as much as Hugh Fernley Whittingstall lead me to believe I would!!! but never tried Hare (always wanted to try jugged hare, sounds nice) and certainly nev

I'm looking at travelling around Britain (to Scotland and back stopping along the way) in June/July time camping or staying in B&B's with the missus, my little girl (will be 2 yrs old) and two dogs. Last time we went camping on Dartmoor I found a campsite on the internet that said 'set in the heart of the moors' but what we found when we got there was a caravan park complete with arcades and disco! in the middle of an arable farm! not quite what we were expecting! From the photo's on here, some of you live in beautiful countryside so I'm trying to get a bit of insider info on where to stay

so your a Health and Safety Rep!!!! I trained in IT at collage, then worked in a Precision casting foundry, then on to become a Laboratory Technican in heat Treatment at Westland Helicopters testing the Apache, EH101 and Super Lynx gearbox's and driveshafts Amazing money and training program (pick any course at uni and we'll pay!!!) but four blank white walls to stare at for 5 years so fancied a change. Dossed around for a year or two then managed to get a job as a contract underkeeper/cottage maintainance/river warden in Cerne Abbas (chalk guy with the big d*ck carved on the hill) but w

A Message from John Cleese to the citizens of the United States of America: In light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and Thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (excepting Kansas, which she does not fancy). Your new prime minister, Tony Blair, will appoint a governor for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be

Looks like a fun day out mate nice to see you letting everyone have a go with their dogs! I asked to let Tia have a go last year at the Bath and West game fair but they just laughed at us, it gets a bit embaressing walking back out of the ring with everyone watching you When's your next one?

No way would anyone survive that for more than a minute or two! not just the fact the pain and shock would probably kill you in the first place drunk or not, then think of the size of the arteries in the leg, you'd bleed to death in a matter of minutes with both legs chewed through like that.

I think that it will be an eye opener for the general public that have only seen leaflets from leading charities saying 'a fox suffers for minutes whilst being ripped limb from limb by a pack of hounds' whilst showing a pic of the hounds with a fox . I say good on BBC 4 for showing the public an alternative to LACS usual Bulls*t!! :thumbs-up:

I'm At It Again! (At Last! THE Mink Trapping Post!)

A RAFT!!! Just seen one used on the telly, no bait just using their curiosity against them!! A floating wooden raft about 1.5m x 1m with a tunnel across the length of it, covered in local vegetation. They put wet clay in a tub in the bottom of the tunnel to check their about (leaving footprints in the clay) then slide a humane catch trap inside to actually catch them. Problem solved with your changing water levels and constant rain, the traps under cover and on top of the water!!! just attach it to the bank at your favourite location and a weight hanging in the water the other end to -
Some of the digging lads from europe should be able to help with this one, it's still legal over there in certain parts and certain month's, I think their dogs do it all, fox, coypu and badger. The differance is their dogs will take a fox apart at the seams but just hold a badger up until you dig it out. I guess they just learn differant techniques for each quarry???

Christ thats a rabbit every 1 min and 45 secs!! now thats some lurcher keeping that up for 2 hours!!! good on ya!

they did the right thing first of all, sorted him out then went in and locked the door. but they should of waited for the police to turn up instead of the bouncer unlocking the door and kicking the shit out of him! he wasn't hurting anyone or anything out there, just leave him be until the piggies turn up. Your right about that pr*ck with the bottle, he needed a smack!!!

Them little suburu pickup 4x4's are great off road, local keeper used to have one then got a defender 90. The only thing the 90 beat the pickup on was deep mud (Ride height I guess???) and the susuki 410/413 are suppose to be pretty good too.

Exactly what I thought!! Fair play to him if it's not near the guns and the keepers willing to let him sniff about during drives! Kiwi - maybe English pups are more sensitive than NZ/Aus pups (or maybe just more molly-coddled??) but a fair few people seem to ruin decent working dogs over here by introducing them to gun reports far too young and far to close, making them gun shy, you ever get gun shyness over there? Anyway it's interesting to hear how people in other countries train their gundogs, in Europe they seem to leave dogs until their a lot older than ours until they start prope

Fair enough keeping it all fun and games and introducing the pup to lots of new and exciting sights, sounds and scents, easiest way of getting a nice steady dog and he seems to be going well with the basic commands but firing guns near a young pup can have disasterous effects, not just scaring the living sh*t out of the young'un but it's damaging it's hearing as well. Theirs no golden rules with a precise age to start dogs off, someone once won a few Field Trials then an open stakes championship with an eight month old pup!! making it the youngest FTCH in KC history. So it can be done but ju
