    BADGER CULL

It's crawling with em round our way! probably 3-4 killed on the roads round here every week and probably twice as many cars damaged from hitting them. The randomised cull has been and gone! their playing with the figures already so they can justify local cull's, either way farmers round here aren't going to put up with them much longer. It's not just the TB, when their sets start spreading out from hedge rows and the edges of woods and popping up in tracks and fields, you still can't do anything about it Edited: Stabs
  2. Posted at 1.22am!!! That'll have to stop if you want to get back into ferreting! :11:
  3. :welcomeani: Hiya scott! Nice site mate and you've got some good pics on there!
  4. That's it, kick a man whilst he's down! :11:
  5. Whasn't she the one that escaped your back garden whislt in heat!!!!! Congratulations your going to be a dad! :11:
  6. Try explaining the problem to your vet, best case - could just be additives in it's food making it Hyper (some of the cheaper complete food's used to affect mine). Worst case - something wrong upstairs. Either way you need to get it sorted before it snaps at a shadow and catches someone's hand!!!
  7. My Dad retired out their, bought a girlie bar, made enough money so he's now sold it and bought a Hotel. Anyone want to a cheap hol get your flights sorted and then I can get you discounted rates for the hotel! I'll put up photo's of hotel as soon as my boss f**k's off!
  8. Hunting with dogs, whether its lamping, earthwork or hunting pigs all carry some risk I would think the only danger your bullmastiff would be in from bowling over a leonberger would be collision injury from such a large useless lump It's a good point, Lamping, earthwork etc. has been done for years in this country so you don't notice the risks as much. I think it's the unknown factor of boar hunting that gets you nevous! And it's more bulldozer than Bullmastiff! ran straight into in head first, knocked it over then scruffed it, their best mates now, go walking together most weekends
  9. Cheers for advice everyone I think I'll give it a go!
  10. Do these types of injuries occur often with Long dogs? some people at work have got ex track greyhounds and they've always got bad feet, tendons etc .I heard saluki's were supposed to be quite sure footed dogs but the greyhound needs near snooker table terrain to go properly? Do crosses suffer with the same probs???
  11. I don't know how you do it, I mean my bull is close to 32kgs (70lbs) but I still couldn't bring myself to putting her in a dangerous situation like that, she's put herself in trouble before (bowling over a Leonberger!!!). Just coz the dogs got the balls to do it doesn't mean you should always let em! Which is going to be the trouble in the future bull X being ripped up or trampled.
  12. Frontline! nasty stuff but one treatment every 6 month's job done. drops or spray both work well!
  13. 20kg spanial, she is a big girl! thats 44lbs! Does she work?
  14. Nu Stock? I've never heard of that, what is it? and where would I get it from? Cheers
  15. My bullies come out in wet excema on both cheeks, and a big patch on her back, been treating it with pennacillin and a steriod cream from the vets but as you can see- It's dried the area out but left a big area of dry dead skin. I've been cleaning with hibiscrub to remove the dead skin but it doesn't seem to bee improving? Anyone else had probs with this and found a decent treatment? and will the hair grow back???
  16. If it's that isolated surely nobody would notice you having a mooch about with some f**k off great big dogs and return the favour, see how they like being chewed up! either that or if their hungary enough to eat another carnivore then bait em up and knock em down!
  17. Well, again only going on what the Shooting Times has to say but apparently some villager had there Bloodhound/Otteehound badly gored by a Boar, cost £500 to get it stitched up after.
  18. At the moment theirs no law stating the minimum calibre to be used, (apparently some people have been having a go with small bore rifles, crossbows and bow and arrows!!!) but as long as accurate bullet placement can be assured then surely most rifles used for sika/red deer should be man enough for the job? What's the Law for using dogs? are we going to see the aussie/kiwi style of hunting pigs start picking up? coz I'd like see that happening! Boar hunting but without the flight costs!!!
  19. Well It's offical!!! DEFRA have finally admitted that wild Boar are breeding in England! Shooting Times has done an artical on it, Kent and East sussex have the the largest sounders (social groups), up to 100 are thought to be roaming around the area of Berkley! with large groups in Dorset, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Devon and now even Somerset!!! One guys been studying them since 1983! this is his site -www.britishwildboar.org.uk Anyone know the Law about hunting them? What sort of calibre should we be looking at? would a .243 stop a pig???
  20. As you all probably know by now I'm new to running dogs, I'm try to use a bully for christsake!! (still hasn't caught a rabbit across a field but were getting closer!) but some people at work have got a greyhound's and they all seem to have problems with their ankles, tendons and claws either being snapped, pulled, torn or twisted and that's not even hunting them just walking the dogs so the question is how do you lot cope with it?
  21. With ferret kings kennel's just knock a couple of holes in the breeze blocks at ground level to let some fresh air circulate and get rid of the damp, a bit of sanding and a lick of paint then top notch! And Mucker spot on but I hope you've got a temp roof on that run, most dogs when bored would soon be on top of that kennel then over the fence!!! especially if you've got Lurchers, aren't they supposed to be good at jumping???
