  1. Yes the Banter never stopped all day did it. My ribs hurt the day after with all the laughing as well as my legs trying to keep up with Paul. Half of the time i was carrying all my camera kit and trying to keep hold of the whippets at the same time....
  2. Paul was a very good friend and we spent many happy hour out on the fenns running his saluki's and my whippets. Pauls friends continued to take him out coursing using a 4x4 so he could see his saluki's run. We ran the dogs right through to the end of last season, he wan't happy unless he was out on the field. I feel very priviledged to have known him. My thoughts go out to his family.
  3. I'm in Notts mate, if you bring it over i can do it for you while you wait. Don't use resin as it's impossible to fit another replacement collar. I use a glue gun and it works a treat
  4. Just recieved the whippet collars, well pleased with them fantastic quality
  5. Anyone taking this advice will have dogs with broken toes, never read as much shite in my life
  6. I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole mate, there shite. Had one and edgar brothers had it in there workshop more times than it was in my cabinet. It kept jamming and breaking the c clips on the mag tube. If you shoot large loads on the geese etc there just not up to it. Trust me my mate has a gunshop and he's stopped stocking them
  7. Had a few problems in that area in the past and we were on permisson!!. Boxingday 2009 we had the police helicopter, 3 transit vans and 2 landrovers come to us. The closed the A614 just incase we tried to do a runner!!. The best thing about it was the farmer was having a walk with us as he always does on boxingday. The farmer went and told them and all was well. Apart from the helicopter fecking all the hartleys off!!. Got some cracking pics of the helicopter. Would never course on a sunday though
  8. Will take you up on that thanks a lot Your more than welcome mate, just drop me a pm and we'll sort a day out. Its far easier to understand when someone actually shows you rather than reading through the manuals.
  9. I always wear smart casual clothes. i.e moleskin trousers and a checked shirt. I also show them my insurance and mention the farmers who already let me on there land. Have your details already written down on a piece of card so the farmer can keep it handy. Even though he may not give you permission at the time theres a good chance he'll contact you if circumstances change. Try and get a reference from the farmers/landowners that you already go on thsi will help. I'm very fortunate as i live out in the sticks and i've had farmers actually coming and knocking on my door asking me to control
  10. interested in the rotavator, does it run ok?? what were you looking for it money wise. i'm only 5 miles from donny so could pick up no problem. tried pming you but your inbox is full, please pm me you number and i will give you a call
  11. Your not that far from me mate, i'm just south of Doncaster. Give me a shout when you've got it and pop down for the day. I'll talk you through all the settings etc and i'll put a couple of the pro lenses i have on your camera to show your the difference.
  12. Got one in the cupboard mate, bought it my lad so he could give me a hand at shows. There a very good camera but the standard lense lets them down a little as your very limited with the 18-55mm. Having said that you can pick up 70-300 lenses at a reasonable price on fleabay. For £120 i'd snap his hand off, a word of advice though just give it a try first anc check the memory card door as they are quite weak on them.
  13. There a cracking gun mate, My friend shoots one and he owns a gunshop. I don't know wether they will take 67mm though as there chambered to 31/2" and you may find 70mm is the minimum they will fire. I know my remington 1187 super magnum thats chambered to 31/2" won't take anything less than 70mm.
  14. I've a few hobs left, I've a couple of 1/4 european polecat x hobs (nice to handle) a BiW hob and a couple of jills. They need to go as soon as possible, i'm near Doncaster.
  15. The whippet collars look well mate, i'll have a couple of them off you, message sent
  16. As already said brush her out with a blunt hacksaw blade mate. I'd also give her 5ml of linseed oil in her feed every day. You should see an improvement in a couple of weeks. (available from equestrain suppliers Don't give her the linseed oil you put on cricket bats!!)
  17. I've a black eyed white/silver and a sandy hob kit here mate that are ready to go. I'm just south of Doncaster
  18. I found that too mate and put it down to the buff birds taking on much less colour than the finer yellow feathered birds. have to also agree about putting the colourfeed in the water it just ruined the cages and it got bloody everywhere.
  19. Only just caught this thread,Your doing a good job with the dog mate credit to you and goodluck with him in the future. Don't forget the hydrotherepy is to help his recovery and the bill should also be sorted by the sanctury responsible. I'm sure they would sooner do that than get some bad publicity.
  20. 21. From my experience alot of injuries occur when folk don't actually know the ground there running there dogs on. I'm quite fortunate in having enough permission to go on without straying too far. However if i do stray or have a run out with friends on there permission i always ask about wire etc and expect them to know there ground. A dog will soon learn with experience that 90% of rabbits will slow somewhat before hitting the hedge, and puts the presuure on just at the right time. I'd go as far to say about 50% of the rabbits my dogs pick up on the lamp are within 10 yards of the hedgeline an
