  6. used to go to the smaller shows run by locals hopeing to raise funds to carry on the show and premote the hunt/ clay ground /pony club shooting and dogs in their area with B.A.S.C and others as stand holders but these small shows i.m.o. have been killed of by the large shows run by events people one example was a small show close to hexam this did ok untill a local landed gent started his own show held on the same weekend as the the small one he offered the trade stands a very good deal and so tempted them away from the small show it only took two bad years to put the little show out of busi

  9. well our syndicate has a small moor that we visit at the start of the season it's not managed in any way but some years we have enough game to be able to have a walk out with the dogs.we will be up and watching the moor to see if enough grouse are about to warrant a days walk about.the most we have had in the bag was 2 1/2 brace not a lot i know but for the lads that shot them it was great and for those that did'nt theres always next season
  10. used to go to a few shows a year but stopped when they all seamed the same. Now i can't find the time to go so am i missing out or is the fact that a lot of these shows are staged by special events co. and not by local interests made them better or worse.should i find the time to go.will i be supporting fieldsports or what.
  11. Thats north east england spaniel club .the deal is you can compete with your dog against others in a field test run on the same lines as a kc test but it's independent of the kc so you can enter your dog even if it is'nt kc reg , fare enough to me .has anyone of here joined and got any feedback they could share with us.
  12. had an old springer did,nt like to pick crows so never used to send her but one day i dropped a crow and the dog ran in to pick it or i thought she did turns out the crow was carrying half a slice of bread in its beack the old bitch ran out ate the bread and left the crow. Now i don't send the spaniels but if the terrier is with me she likes to do the job and likes it and even more if they are only pricked blood thirsty little b####r.
  13. get old one tested first.
  14. happy we dont have poachers but bloody :realmad: that some lazy sod is dropping cartidges only wished they had kept the spent cases so we could try and ID the gent.and thanks for the info.
  15. can a forager fitted with a metal detecter pick up signals from spent cartridges left in the field as the contractor has told the farmer that this was the reason that the forager kept stopping are these that sensitive.as we clear away all spent cases and don't even shoot that much over this field .we have three maybes 1 cases are left behind 2 contractor telling porkeys 3 someones shooting over this field that we don't know about :realmad:.
  16. you'r going back a bit but i remember its a good job you got soaked at the end of the day or you would have had to put up with the leg pulling from your mates :friends: for a lot longer . we normaly only have 1 or 2 places to fill but some of the lads lost there jobs and two found a shoot closer to home(they came all the way from the glasgow area ).anyway we will still enjoy the days on the place as we have enough to make our line of guns but still room to offer anyone who's looking to start out and try a syndicate or an old hand who wants a change :welcomeani: and if not then days like you
