bitch is at 7yrs and has always been a very smart dog who makes rabbits look very easy , everything she catches is retrieved alive. she has plenty of speed and outshines all of the others we have ever brought on . this breeding was for own use as this bitch is now getting on. she has had no major injuries or faults , feet good , very agile , quiet and calculated . she works off lead on the lamp and ferreting as she is steady as a rock , she will not move without command . the dog was chosen because of his stamina , strength and gameness , he is the dog of a friend that i have witnessed ta

emlyn the plod and the reporters at the burnley citizen ought to be ashamed , get your facts right!! journalists and the police should be researching this before comment or print , this just exposes how second rate, naive and quick to condemn our police and newspapers are. WHICH RAG DO YOU BUY AND WHY ?? ITS ALL PROPAGANDA DESIGNED TO KEEP YOU IN CHECK , THE BIBLE IS EASIER TO BELIEVE . DONT BUY AND IT REMOVES THE PLATFORM FOR THESE MINDLESS FOOLS BROADCASTING THIS RUBBISH. WHAT WILL IT BE IN THE MORNING ? SUN, STAR , MIRROR ........ BUY A GOOD HUNTING BOOK AND FORGET THE PAPERS

you can get a ceramic heater that fis the lamp holder in these heat lamps , they are as cheap as the lamps but last longer and have no glass , only drawback being they dont give off light. if ran via a(rcd) fused spur with a 3 amp fuse you should cut the risk of injury or fire substantially. atb

a few pics of my young lady from the nell/dougy union , shes very clever and pics up most lessons in no time , she has endless drive and a very inquisative nature but there is a downside , she can get bored if the action is slow and starts to whine but this is something im trying to iron out as with all pups time and patients will reap dividends, she may not be as experienced as merlin(not many about this year) but if shes any sort of benchmark i'd be happy to have another from the next litter. atb

how often do your runners get cuts and impact wounds??
nobjerk replied to nobjerk's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
very funny!! may be just my hund but when out with the terriers shes prone to diving into cover to grab what they are on and being stabbed in the process , this was just an idea too see if there was anything available possibly in a breathable fabric to avoid overheat , but overall its just a way to reduce time lost to injuries that could be avoided with a litte forethought. atb -
dog has returned from a trip out with a skin tear to the upper chest/neck , vet says this is a dangerous area as the cut was mm away from the jugular(spelling?) and any further penetration in that area could reach vital organs. was just wondering if there was anything available in a sort of running vest as a second skin layer?? maybe like the boar dog chest protection but a little less restricting. this area of my dog takes a few knocks and it seem to be an obvious solution as this will now cost me lost time during an ever shortening season and more vet bills. atb

tried this a few years back and found that a generaly calm line of workers was ruined by the agression of the pc x kits. at least 50% of the litter we bred were very shy at first(when all ferrets were fed the routine was to rattle the cage front to bring them all forward to give me access to a food bowl trap , the pc x would always stay in tubes or behind items obviously hiding) then just plain nasty no matter how often they were handled . all were reared in a creche system were other jills had standard litters and we had no problems with our normal lines. gave it up as a bad decision.

thanks all for the advise so far and has for the river i fish on are the river wye ,river lugg and river seven when i get chance i fish the teme for them and find mainline assasin8 is hard to beat but when fishing a match i will use maggot or wasp grub to float with(about 2.5hrs)before swapping to a bolt rigged feeder packed with grubs and a short hooklength , 9 times out of 10 after picking up the chub in the first half of the session the barbel will be on the bottom mopping up the extras and are ready to be caught . i find its all about the confidence of the fish rather than what

Totally agree certain dogs and definately certain breeds cannot be given an inch I'm always on top of her tricks and mischief.... usually This allows the dog to know it's place I think she's just getting ahead of herself if that makes any sense try an innotek collar and a back to basics training program , i find the collar gives you an arm of about 300yds long to correct the behavior at range. some dogs ive worked with (that had a dash of bull blood) were aware of the fact that when the lead was removed or when taken to an open area it would mean freedom , the collar just reminds them

cancel it and get your money back , ive tried it and its no good . we have had problems with the rat attack , seems like it will work but when we were trying it in deep established warrens we were struggling to get a bolt . i think what happens is the smoke that comes immediatly from the tip is hot and looks good but as it cools on entry it just condenses to the surfaces of the runs. we had the farmer watch us with our new fantastic bit of kit only for us to smoke a place under a concrete floor of a grain store that we new held big numbers, for over 30mins with no rats . then the end ignited w

couldnt agree more , had a pair of irish setter elk trackers 10" 600gram of insulation , sent ban (no smelly boot feet) £120 best boots ive ever had (bought anther pair to keep for next but theyve been in cuboard for 2yr) . my shooting , digging , beating and lamping partner bought mouflon gtx at the same time and had freezing feet all winter and now has wet feet when we go out , you can guess what he's buying next.
