  1. Pride of the nation mate. Come back safely.
  2. Am I the only person who's never had fleas on their ferrets?
  3. Called into a small bit of permission I have on the way home from work today. Managed to bag two (one and a half maybe). Should have had four or five but for some truely horrendous shooting from yours truely.
  4. Or I could drive to colchester, pick Scuba up, drive to Derbyshire, collect said thermos and sarnies, and drive back once mission is complete.
  5. Look at the Weihrauch HW range. HW95 would be an good starting point, or if you're more slight, then maybe an HW99. Can't knock BSA Lightnings either, excellent value for money.
  6. All told, with the Hawke Eclipse 3-9x50, silencer and Hills pump it was about £820 The shop threw in a slip and tin of pellets. Unfortunately they were Superdomes- the least consistent pellet I've tried so far!
  7. Thanks mate. I've got to be honest, it was the looks that really sold it to me. I've only had mine a few days but it's incredible so far. I know the earliest models had some issues, but as far as I can make out, BSA have put all these right. And saving?! I'm too lazy for that, it's all on finance!!
  8. With no work today, thought I'd pop up to the farm in the village and speak to the farmer to make sure my permission to shoot there still stood, since I'd not been for well over a year, and to reaffirm my ferreting permission for the coming season. That done, thought I'd have a little ride around the farm to just refamiliarise myself with what's what. Hundreds of pigeons around, and with a lot of rape being grown, I'll try and have a crack at some decoying soon! Didn't see much in the way of rabbits, just one half grown one ran across the track in front of my truck, and this unlucky o
  9. Cheers Freddy. Only got it wednesday last week.
  10. Nice one Simoman. I hope this thread hasn't been taken in the wrong way by anybody. My intention wasn't to offend anyone- mods or the younger guys. Not at all, we need help from the members to monitor whats going on, its a big forum That it is! I didn't realise quite how big until I noticed yesterday that somebody was member number 38645 or something like that! I've been posting on this forum in fits and starts for a couple of years, but it's really grown since I joined! I didn't see that mate. If it's true then i think it perfectly illustrates my point!

  12. Might save you a bit of hassle if you get them neutered mate.
  13. Keep your eye in with plenty of target practice too mate!
  14. Nice one mate, good luck with those magpies!
  15. One of the downsides (aside from the incredibly bad pay ) of being a pest controller is that you have to do things like be on call on Easter sunday! I had a call come in yesterday afternoon from a Homebase store saying that there was a pigeon flying around the shop. Obviously, not much I could do about it on saturday afternoon, so I made arrangements to take care of it first thing this morning. I arrived, expecting a feral pigen or collared dove, but was pleasantly surprised to see a woodie sitting atop a kitchen display! To be honest, I nearly managed to get hold of it with my hands, b
  16. The thing is though pal, this is a site used by us- the airgun hunters, not the farmers and landowners. You've been given some top advise in this topic, so take heed of all of these things and have a little bit of patience and everything will work out
  17. Mate, this isn't going to help you. We all work hard to get our permission. Nobody will be willing to give their's away. You'll have to put in the effort that everybody else does unfortunately.
  18. Best thing is not to publicise that you hunt. Don't deny it, and definitely don't be ashamed of it, but don't talk about it with people that aren't into it. All that does is draw attention to it. Fighting and threatening people is not a good idea, definitely at school! You're only 13 mate, you've got a lot of school left. I was bullied at high school through the first few years, but once GCSEs start, most people start to mature and get on with things. Just remember that school is important!!
  19. I realy do feel like giving up as i hav tried asking a feww farmers and they say sorry i already have pest controll. I think you need to make it clear to the farmers/landowners that you're asking their permission to shoot, not offering pest control. Although in effect, you will be helping to control pests, it's not quite the same things as a full pest control service. Okay, i'll try, but realy tbh. Who want's a 14 year old to shoot on their land? You'd be surprised mate, I had some permission when I was around your age, as did a friend of mine of similar age, which worked

  21. *edited to remove double post.
  22. This is the single most sensible thing I've read on this forum to date. Well said. True enough pal, but there's no suggestion that he's going to get any jills. If that does occur, then there are plenty of people with vasectomised hobs that can help. In 12 years of keeping ferrets, until last year, I've never had my own vasectomised hob, and it's never been a problem. Definitely agree with what's been said about reading up, take in as much knowledge as you can from books, and don't be scared to ask questions on here. There are some incredibly knowledgeable people that post o
  23. That's an excellent idea hyperion. Unfortunately not 6 months ago, all my old magazines went to magazine heaven. (Or as it's generally known, the local recylcling centre). I'd certainly be interested to read some of John Darling's articles if anybody can dig some out and take the time to put them up!
