  1. I wouldn't want that lot on my back for too long either! As a tip - if you get the guts out of them as you pick them up, you'll save a lot of weight! Great shooting gents, I'm pretty jealous!
  2. I started to write the listing, and then got distracted... https://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/classifieds/item/1460-weihrauch-hw95/
  3. Weihrauch HW95 View Advert This is an original HW95, in .22 calibre, which I have had from new. Vmach tuned 6 or 7 years ago, and has probably only had 500 - 1000 shots fired through it since then. Beech stock is lighter than most. Sanded back and oiled to it's natural colour. Fairly unique looking thing as a result. Gun is in great condition. It has been really well looked after, religiously wiped down after use for it's whole life. A few scuffs on the end of the muzzle weight, but that's really all. Selling rifle only. No scope to be
  4. Hi all, Mods, please don't consider this as an ad. It's more of a plea for help! I've tried to sell my HW95 on here a couple of times - each time I've had some interest, and each time that interest has either turned out to be from time-wasters, or things just haven't aligned and the sale hasn't worked out. But I'm having another go! Here's the thing: I'm in Australia, but the rifle is in Norfolk, so a sale will need to be coordinated with my family and might take a couple of days to get things together. Rifle only. V-Mach tuned a few years ago and not had much use since
  5. I'm a little bit wary of these Discovery Optics. I don't have a ton of experience with them - but I shot an informal round of FT (it was informal for me, a competition for everyone else) in New Zealand using one on top of my friend's Air Arms S510 a couple of weeks ago. The quality surprised me, and all the reviews and feedback I've seen online have been excellent - but they've only been around for a hot minute. I'll be really curious to see how they stack up in 2 or 3 years time. Hopefully my wariness is misplaced - because they certainly seem to be a lot of scope for the money.
  6. It depends not just on the capacity of the tank and cylinder, but the fill pressure of each, too.
  7. Stavross, did you make a decision? I've got an HW95 sitting idle at my mum's place in Norfolk. Given that I live down under now, it's not going to get any use any time soon. It's .22 calibre. I've had it from new, which is a lot of years, but it's in great nick - was tuned by Steve Pope at Vmach a few years ago and hasn't fired more than 500 shots since then. I don't really want to let it go, but importing it to Australia is close to impossible, so I've given up on that dream. I refinished the stock years ago so it looks unique - quite a light colour. No scope with it though. I
  8. Thanks Phil. There's no power restriction in Australia, but all airguns are classified as Class A firearms, the same category as rimfire and shotguns. I don't have a chrony, but I believe that my .22 Wildcat is shooting at the standard 30ft/lbs level. I can't say for certain if your neighbour is BSing you, but it doesn't sound too improbable, honestly. Guns were pretty easy to come by in Australia until the National Firearms Agreement came into being after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. Not sure how legally he'd have been firing from the side of the road into a field, but I doubt
  9. G'day all, It's been a while since I posted a hunting write up in here. It's been a while since I went hunting to have anything to write up. Anyway, I picked up a nice rabbit permission recently. I went to have a look early on Saturday. Came away with these 5, all taken between 30 and 50 metres. I missed a couple, too, but I'll get them next time! Happy shooting, all.

  11. I'm not sure quite what I said that was trying to be funny. I didn't intend to cause any offence, so forgive me if that's what I've done. Simply asking what I thought was a legitimate question. I'll PM you now.
  12. Am I to assume then flynndog that this means you're no longer interested in the HW95 I've been holding for you since the beginning of December?
  13. I had entirely forgotten that Ripley had ever existed, and now I find out that they're still being made. Always looked like wonderful guns, I'd definitely consider it if the price is right!
  14. Good job! I've said it before, but I think feral pigeon shooting is some of the best fun you can have with an air rifle!
  15. As I mentioned...I have been out of the country for a while, so I'm probably not best placed to even be involved in this discussion! I do know that I didn't have to give any details for the last rifle I bought in England though (a .177 single shot BSA Ultra, if anybody is interested). That's a step in the right direction, at least. You're right Jimmy - this is a tough nut to crack! *edited for typo*
  16. You may well be right Jimmy, but I fall into the camp that thinks it is better try than just accept that this is a part of life. Even something simple like providing ID and requiring gun shops to keep a register of what had been sold to who would be a help. Granted, that doesn't account for the guns that are already out there, but it might help in preventing any escalation of the problem. And if we, the responsible airgunners and the airgun industry implemented something like that voluntarily then it would show some willing that might release some of the pressure. Am I a dreamer? Prob
  17. I've been out of the UK for a few years, so I'm not fully aware of the current issues surrounding the legality of airguns, but it doesn't take an expert to see that the link between the images of those swans and airguns is tenuous at best. It could be a BB gun, I suppose, and as others have said it is unlikely to be a shotgun due to the shot pattern. Whilst this case clearly isn't directly an airgun incident, the sad facts are that airguns are used maliciously and illegally by the kind of people that we certainly don't consider to be a part of our tribe. For this reason, I am not op
  18. I looked at that link, and the way I read it is that they make stocks for those models, not that they make a stock that will fit all.
  19. No, that wasn’t me - I think I’d stopped being a regular on here a little before then. I have a vague memory of somebody saying they were going to Canada, perhaps? Military maybe?
  20. No first hand experience but honestly I don’t like the idea. I’d imagine they are lighter, and harder - so they fly quicker and don’t deform on impact, as you said. I’m also not sure how I’d feel about putting a material harder than lead through my barrels either.
  21. Unfortunately not. Moderators are almost completely prohibited. There is a bit of a movement pushing for the rules to be relaxed a bit, but I don’t expect that to happen anytime soon sadly. It’ll certainly have a bit of a woof from the muzzle, spitting out about 33ft/lbs. Collecting it on Monday, and I’m beyond excited! *edited for typos
  22. It’s a .22, villaman. It’s the original type, with the muzzle weight. I've had it from new, which is more years than I’d like to admit really. It’s in great shape. V-Mach tuned about 6 years ago, and I doubt it’s fired more than 500 shots since then. It’s been packed away for the last 4 years. I’ll see what I can get in the way of pictures and I’ll get an ad posted up. Replied to your pm mate. Cheers everyone - a few of you have been knocking around on here forever!
  23. Good stuff! I love shooting feral pigeons around cattle. Always plenty of action!
  24. Great shooting Si. Get back with the Weihrauch soon and knock some of those ferals over!
