  4. Hello, i have a first cross bedy whippet with me now,and i love him, hes a great dog, loyal, excellent nose,(like seriously good) ,game, has great turn and take off, good speed, very head strong at times, ,a dog built for purpose, he does piss me off at times though, your new dog should do you proud
  5. Just come into this thread and havent taken the time to read all posts as i think simoman summed it up in his last couple posts,i own a first cross beddy whippet and a collie grey whippet, which has taken mostly to the whippet, now i know these two dogs could do it but i think there are more appropriate crosses available which single handed wil cope alot better, not saying whippets cant because i know they can but ill keep my two on the legal stuff, p.s bit of beddy in with the whippet puts some fire in em all the best
  6. Then the Spaniel (unadulterated) is the animal for the job! You'd not be gaining anything by crossing with a lurcher. Saw some spaniels working on the weekend think id sooner have a good nosed lurcher such as a beddy x, wasnt impresed at all with these dogs, im sure if a soft mouthed retriever is your need then a spaniel is the one, but dont forget a good nosed lurcher can do anything a spaniel can do, but if you need more than such as bushing ferreting and all then a good nosed lurcher is a much better choice  Do you think i am wrong in saying this, if so pleas

Cheers for all the replys, think i might get the old peddler out more often, although on my field the beddy x just stuck on basically the route we walk every day (open field) he was a good 20feet out while i took the inside line. lovely seeing him cruise, they look amazing side on full chat, think ill take the bitch out on the peddler as i could see what you lot say happening as she ran way to close, rich

  11. After recently getting myself a a field bike again for the summer to tinker about on,thought sweet get the dogs running with me,now my beddie whip was brilliant done three laps of this massive field out back loves it but my bitch dont like me on bike at all moment i open it up she tries munching my legs lol, do any of you run ur dogs with cars motorbikes or such bet it gets em looking nice, road work tonight for me,and a quick question,my 1st cross beddie whip weighs inat 37 pound very well toned solid muscle, could anyone tell me the weight of there 1st cross beddie, many thanks rich

  13. wel im from down south and my dog is northern ,so together we got best of both lol
  14. Hi scruff,i hav two dogs a whippet x collie grey which has taken mainly to the whippet and a first cross whippet bedlington, both great dogs, beddy being a little head strong, but as previous posts have said they are seriously brave dogs, great for bushing, lamp, ratting, and there noses are spot on for marking, mine never been wrong, as i do not own a pure whippet i cant comment to much, but will say that jaw power and the teeth on him put my whipet grey to shame they are some serious teeth,i must say i would prefer my beddy x for colder days wit not much action as my whippet grey does get a tad
