  2. Well lads great huntsmen, they are not born over night, the same as any trade there is a apprenticeship without a older head on board you are going to have problems, when you first start at the bottom as you do ,the only hounds you get are draft hounds that have faults, unless you take over a pack that someone , has had to finish due to ill health, but with these hounds that you have got, you still have to make a bond with them, this could take upto as much as 3 years, they are the same as people,we don't all get on with each other, also as a huntsman we all have a different view about the way the ho

Sorry mate! i did'nt know you was coloured visioned, dug over a few russels that have put alot of other terriers to shame, week in, week out, over the years, you get shit in all breeds of terriers, talking to two boys two weeks ago ,and they said they had put down 9 terriers last season which failed,no white terriers there mate?they ended up depending on one only pulling legs, just like I do on the hound section. i am a tradtionalist at heart, so give me a good old f

  11. you silly fu--ing man where do you think the rebel packs came from, its because of the quarreling between the hunt thats caused it ,masters shaging the field followers, huntsman shaging the masters ,non of which know what hounds are hunting ,most of the masters don't even know the hounds that's in kennels, thats where the rebel packs came from, the foot pack that this accident has happened to, has been going for over 40 years or even more,in that time there has been two huntsman, one man'd band, collecting fallen stock, skining ,keeping the hounds, arranging the meets, doinging a full time job and ris
  12. As wheaton has put it ,thats what happened the meet was actually 6 miles away from where the accident was, they have had a meet there for over 30 years without any problem's,as for radio's every member out that day had one,the problem is the hounds went in a straight line, the vehicles could'nt with all the lanes that cover the country it was a round trip of nearly 20 miles, three times the distance, hounds are going to win everytime,as for winding up one anti on a bus,yes it was a foot pack, but it's the mounted packs and they're antic's that's put us in the predicament we are in with the anti's o
  13. 5 beagle x spaniels, 4 beagle x russels, 4 grifonn vandeen, 2 line bred border sealyhams, 3 harriers and some black and tan hounds from Ireland, i think they are Kerry beagles. The terrierman has daschund/corgi and a Norfolk x pitbull.
  14. Well lads it was the last meet for us wednesday just gone, the weather was cold, a sunny day and for a change dry,the last few meets have been lambing calls,we found our first drag in a thick patch of brambles right next to where the lambs were, hounds away in good voice down through the cover turning left handed up a small valley one of the farmers having a shot at it ,missing him ,the drag turned right handed over some marshland before crossing out over the field,a young lady who has supported us all season came on the cb to say that her lurcher had accounted for that one ,her smile was beamin
  15. take your point but how much ground do you have to hunt, i would expect it be a lot more than we have to go at in the UK, and a lot less congested. never mind about your gps collars or the boys in the the trucks ,they would'nt of got in front of this pack ,on the day ,where they were hunting, which they have hunted over the same ground for 25 years without any problem,SHIT HAPPENS,are you trying to say nothing like this has happened to you ,or any other mounted pack ,old dog old head
  16. Well lads the season is coming to a end once again for me ,i alway finish at the end of february, i think the hounds and terriers would be glad to see it finish as well,we hunt twice a week wednesday and sunday, both teams of terriermen have had their work cut out the last couple of weeks, the hounds have been putting in and cold marking silly numbers to ground, just for example last wednesday, hounds were unloaded from the trailer in the farmyard they went 500 yards up the field and cold marked one straight away a blow on the horn and the terriers were there i carried on and left them to it,hound
  17. I was worst on the sunday after saturdays hunting,we had a great day out with oliver that day ,but i was told it was better on the sunday ,mind you that was off the terrier boys, really glad you had a good day boys, all the best andy
  18. Well lads what's happening,we have been out the last 2 weeks and the scent has been shit,or the hounds ,or the huntsman , i think the latter, got to the meet wednesday a heavy frost all over the ground, hounds entered the first cover ,hit a bit of a line to a earth but did'nt actually mark it ,tried a terrier she said he wasn't at home, hounds drew down the valley finding one ,but scent wasn't great but as the hunt went on it got better as it does, hounds hunted out of a fern bank over the field into another valley,i heard a shot but it came over the cb that he had mssed it ,happy days, hounds now
  19. well done cd,its good when the scent is right,it's a pity we can't have this scent for the rest of the season, good hunting and a merry christmas, keep the young ones out there mate atb OD
