  1. I heard someone say they did the 100m in 4.? seconds. That seemed bloody quick to me, but then I know little about racing dogs! Mine had a run and loved it, although the old girl stopped for a dump half way! Unfortunately I revealed the name of one of my dogs at the other end when I called him back - "Lardy". The skinniest dog in the world! I managed it in about 30 seconds under my own steam. Seriously, thanks to everyone who came. We were really pleased with the turnout and had lots of good feedback, which is always nice to get and we also got some helpful feedback that will help us
  2. Hi Keeley, We're hoping to make it. Is there camping there or anywhere nearby? What time do you reckon you'll get started on Saturday morning? Hopefully all of us will be pitching up to see you. Cheers
  3. hi mate, whats the adress that will be held at, nearest train station etc and also is the an enterece fee? soory for the spot light interveiw lol all the best lurcher lass Hi, Address is Lodge Road Playing Field, Lodge Road, Woodham Ferrers, CM3 4HL. Make sure you don't go to South Woodham Ferrers though because it's in the village of Woodham Ferrers! No entrance fee, but small charge for schedules instead (docking law and all that!) Nearest train station - South Woodham Ferrers, then a number 36 bus to Lodge Road in Woodham Ferrers. It is only a mile or so from the train station,
  4. Yeah - we're definitely going ahead! That field is like concrete! Very well drained!
  5. Ghostlyease is spot on - the racing will start after the terrier and lurcher championships. (The terrier & lurcher classes start at midday). There may still be some "fun" classes going on in the fun show (waggy tail and all that stuff), but hopefully that'll be far enough away not to be disturbed by the racing. It's a pretty big field, so there's plenty of room to spread out! (You can google it too see - CM3 4HL) And as Ghostlyease says, the Long Jump will be going on all day. Cheers all
  6. I should mention as well that there should be some ferret racing going on too at some stage!
  7. I'd be very surprised if the judge decides not to split them, but it means we can make the font bigger on the schedule if we put it like that - I'm shortsighted! We've got plenty of rosettes, so I'll give you a bottle of wine (or beer) if any of qualifier classes are not split!
  8. Yeah, sorry about that Richie10, but there's nothing stopping you bringing your own - would be cheaper too anyway!! If I remember, I'll bring a bottle and share with you! Thanks! What age is classed as a puppy? Thanks Up to 12 months... Unless the judge decides otherwise, but I think that's most common interpretation - isn't it...
  9. hi lucy do you have a schedule you can post Yeah - Here's the terrier, lurcher and ferret classes: It's subject to change (minor ones - some classes may be added, don't know yet). "Proper" schedules will be available on the day... Also, forgot to mention before - no entrance fee at our show... It is the 18th July though, so please make sure that's the day you come to the... 12. Mmmmm - An interesting point. Well worth consideration. Would be amusing to see some terriers trying to be obiedient too! (I'm sure most are - just not mine... they think anything is worth a slap!)
  13. I have to add, we're chuffed to have ACES coming along to our show - they do a fantastic job (as you can see from all the other posts and pictures that ghostlyease has put up in the past). As always, this promises to be a good day - Saturuday 18th July. We've got all the usual showing classes and loads and loads of qualifiers up for grabs too, not to mention excellent prizes. Terrier and Lurcher classes start at noon, but if you want to go in any fun classes, get there for 11am! Cheers
  14. Lovely photo - it brought a tear to my eye, but then I am an old softie and my son is a similar age, so I can well understand how both you and he would be so chuffed! Well done all three of you! Keep up the good work on our youngsters!
  15. Guess the police could use alot of their manpower trying to find out exactly who docked the dog!! Ridiculous ain't it - it's hard enough trying to find out who's driving a speeding car when the driver says it wasn't them. How on earth do they think they're going to find out who docked the dog!! I guess the best advice for organisers is, don't charge the gate and for owners of docked dogs make sure you don't win at any shows (regardless of whether gate is charged) in case you draw attention to your dogs tail and have to explain where it is!!
  16. Is that because it's a different act under which the exhibitor is committing the offence, or is it the same act? Best advice is, don't do it I guess!
  17. Well... As someone who organises a show, here's what I did/do... When the law came out, I got completely hacked off with it... yet another way for Westminster to tell us what to do. But, wanting to be a law abiding citizen, and not wanting to land myself in hot water, I asked the advice of our local bobby, since he would be the one with a responsibility to investigate should a complaint be made. The long and short of it is that the police obviously have enough to do without going to shows looking for tails and establishing the ages of dogs. However, they have a responsibility to invest
  18. Saw a Black Fell in Norfolk today... with a tail. OK, so I'm not in this forum very often, so you'll have to excuse me if I sound like I'm being a knob. But, I saw a 13 week old adorable black fell puppy in Norfolk today. Couldn't resist it, so I asked the owner (a complete stranger) about the dog... Apart from the fact that he was cute, nice looking and completely adorable, (and the puppy was too), I'm a sucker for a puppy, and I was curious... The owner told me the dog came from working parents (also in Norfolk)... I'm curious because although I have patterdales/black fells, I
  19. As lucy said i will be going to bet you cant spot me in the crowds Hello Bullpoop... Glad to hear you're coming, but it was TheRabbitMan that said you'd be there. Is there a prize for spotting you in the crowds?
  20. I know they (Essex & Suffolk) have a hound point to point and terrier racing afternoon on 25th May though in case anyone's interested in that! Should be fun. Any more than that, I don't know... Lucy I came to your show last year and won the Patterdale bitch class and someone to do with the show was taking pictures of the winners. Am i able to see the picture anywhere? Is this you... If so, I remember her, she's a credit to you. Mind you, I am biased towards patterdales (as you can probably tell from my photo!) Thats my girlie! Lol. Thanks Lucy. Hopefully I can get her pup
