We all use it, I am just going to buy some more, I have had some Abbey silicon 35 for years and it has always done the job, but now as I am looking around there is loads of the stuff to choose from. I am spoilt for choice and has got me a bit baffled, there is even stuff in spray cans! Anyway I just thought what do you all use? What experiences have you had? Are some better than others? I have the inclination to just stick with what I have always used but the curiosity is getting the better of me now and I am wondering if progress has come along a bit since my last purchase.

Great read that, had me gripped. Some things never change though "hunderds of Americans were killed by their own bombers", is hard to imagine it still happens with the technology of today. Thanks for sharing

think this applies to me too

I already noticed it in the new SACS mag, congratulations Tom, he is a wee cracker. Hope you have some good babysitting slippers and ear plugs All the very best

When the boat comes in? Maybe what shall we do with the drunken sailor ?

Very easy mate, just driving it along the bog, I made the road myself. I got it dragged out by a very nice man in a huge 4x4 tractor yeah, that seems to be the easiest way. I have now made a new track to my peat bank and left that one alone for now I say made but if you just drive over it a few times it looks like a track

You do indeed, they are normaly reversable so you can choose to use it or not.

We have just had the decision that the largest wind farm in europe wont go ahead here any more, although they are still debateing plans for a smaller scale one. The trouble is though they want to errect them here as we have lots of wind (no trees see) but then when its windy they stop turning to avoid damage, would like to see how they would fair in a 140mph wind at 180 meters tall.

Honestly, no disrespect but at the end of the day its people that throw litter out of the car while they drive along, I once stopped and picked some up and followed the young chav and when he stopped I went and chucked it back in his car and told him to go find a bin, he didn't say nothing and was really shocked but didn't throw it back out

Your right there mate there is no power down linkage on it ... far too old, its a 1961 model, dont think they thought of that then  and even if I lifted the back it would get the front wheels out! The trouble been too that its belly was sat on the mud too, no room to get any thing under the belly of it too to lift the front wheels out, the main problem with it was the front wheels sank, as I tried to back out the back wheels sank until the raised lift box came down to rest on the mud, the thing weighs close to four ton, once the belly is on the deck its near impossible to get them

Screwing the sockets back does increase forces on internal components which if faulty could highlight these readings. Try an insulation test on a few sockets first then if you find no faults try linking the circuit with connectors without any thing inline, I would be suprised if the results all come back the same. Good luck.
-
A callibration is just a means of making sure it complies with the same readings as other test instruments and not if it working correctly! If it was not working correctly it would be quite apparent, not callibrated would mean it would not give the same readings as another intrument. I dont think this is an issue here.
-
That sounds like a good idea mate, link it all out without any sockets inline, or maybe do an ins test on each socket. You are going about it the right way and its bloody annoying I know. I am pretty reluctant to give advice if I cant see the instalation as you will appreciate yourself, popping up with ideas will just add to your quandry. Just an after thought : did you do the tests after screwing the sockets back or leaving them loose? Let us know if you get to the bottom of it

Great gun and won't let you down..... I am always sceptical (big word for a thursday night after a few ciders ) about buying a second hand rifle, you really never know how often its been used, how its been treated, I personaly think if your going to get a springer get it new or second hand from someone you can really trust.
-
Get us some good pictures
-
Mine is only a three cylinder but is a bloody good idea Sean, if only I could suss a way to jack it up to take the wheels off and change it over when its sunk. Where theres a will theres a way huh The only other thing is theres is nothing under to grip it just churns it all up and sinks you further, makes a right mess too

I just paid £50 including postage and I didn't think that was expensive for a good mono mount, if you got one for £30, have I been ripped off At the end of the day you get what you pay for. You may have a good branded expensive scope but put cheap mounts on and the scope is usless. This mount is made for springers, as dampers built into the mount take the recoil and stop damage or movment, simple as that
-
Has damp had chance to get in i.e weeks before second fix/test is the place cold and damp? To tell the truth I used to independantly test for the NICEIS and have had some strange readings from originals, without actually seeing the instalation and being able to see the r1+r2 and insulation readings its a bit confusing and dont want to add to your problems. Sorry.
-
Sorry but I smell a RAT
-
Is it PME ot tns or tnts ? Maybe that could account for it? Are you using BASEC cable or cheap import carp, had a do with one once cheap import and was missing insulation on L & N in the same place when we stripped it.
-
I did actually hammer some bits of wood inbetween the back wheels facing down but even with independant wheel brakes it was on its belly and too much weight to drag itself out. Thanks for the idea though I did try some other silly things to no avail. I may invest in a big spike and a winch in the near future, big spike as there are no trees round here The guy that came and dragged it out for me did it for free too, a very nice man ... and a very handy man to know
