6z or 4z ? hazel poles or fibre poles ? nylon or hemp or spun nylon ?setting height ? the list goes on . i just wish , A TRUE NETTER would help us all out here ,some input from one that is UP THERE WITH THE BEST would be a great help to the average netter like myself, tell us why we don,t need trammels , just point us in the right direction or are we not worthy , i will be waiting with baited breath , ...well actually i won,t cos i,m off out rabbiting tonite
-
i personally would only kill a mouse with a running dog
-
i bet you had a sore shoulder after that haul, you should have stayed out and gone for the full 1000
-
your getting very agressive, netrigger , if you don,t like trammels , thats fine , but dont call me a BULLSHITTER just cos i use them and you don,t ,you may well be "up there with the best" but we are still waiting to hear what "the best "have to say, why not put up something positive instead of hurling pathetic schoolboy insults

it stands me at £400 but im open to offers a tenner
-
this new net has a good lot more bagging than the net behind you in the picture chalkie, i think that i why when i have read about others using trammels and having no escapees , i found it a bit hard to believe, cos your net and my old trammels were made by the same man, it still doesn,t owe me anything , its certainly paid for itself over the last coulple of years, i,m gonna give this new net a proper workout in the next few months
-
my trammels have diamond mesh and are 9 inch knot to knot ,thats how they come , i cannot see it being any different using square mesh
-
i use fixed pole ordinary 6z nets from a basket at night ,purely and simply cos its quick and easy to setup/take in and rabbits in trammels take too much time to extract at night ,yes i know there are going to be escapees , but you got to weight that against the time factor , you can have the net in and back up in a different location by the time you got the rabbits out of a trammel, daytime and nighttime netting are totally different ballgame, at the end of the day (or night )the idea is to catch rabbits as quickly and easily as pos with a minimum of fuss, just to throw a proper spanner in the

another reason i use trammels when ferreting or bushing is cos my dog has to get on the arse of a bolting rabbit to push it hard, once the rabbit hits the net , the dog jumps the net and comes back from the other side , too many times the rabbit is forced backwards out of the net by the returning dog and goes back to ground ,usually forcing a dig , i have found with trammels this is reduced considerably, this new net off gypoe joe has more bag and so i,m expecting hardly any rabbits to escape, but we shall see. i prefer to spend my time extracting rabbits from a net than from a hole i have jus

i couldn,t agree more netrigger , but like i said ,I DON,T USE TRAMMELS AT NIGHT, so its pretty much agreed that trammels snag up a rabbit better than ordinary nets, and the reason for not using at night is cos its a pain to extract a rabbits at night, then does this not mean that the net is doing the job it is intended for , catching and holding rabbits and is it better to use in daylight because of its better holding capabilities,i over the last couple of years i have bin contracted to kill rabbits on a moor, i was given an initial 2 months to control the rabbits in a certain gill, i hav

but again without having used a trammel , how can you compare ?how can you prefer one method against the other when you have only used one method, it don,t make sense and the weight issue is not a problem if you eat your porridge, some people prefer hazel against fibre poles ,and there is a big weight difference in that , some use 4z ,some 6z , i don,t have two end pins to carry , but i do have everything in a basket, easier or not ?i wouldn,t even consider using a trammel at night , i have ordinary fixed pole nets for that job, just watch some of the day and night netting sequences in the d
-
please explain why? this is why the question will never work , rabbithunter has never used a trammel , therefore cannot compare one to the other, yes he has an opinion and he,s entitled to air it , but how can he compare one to the other when he has only used one method, its like me telling you that a ferrari is better than a bus , i have never owned a bus
-
why does everyone jump to conclusions?, i don,t remember saying i use a trammel at night , i don,t , i use trammels thru the day, i use them cos i work alone and it gives you that bit longer to get to a rabbit or if 3-4 rabbits hit the net at the same time , i,m not running round like an idiot , trying to get them before they escape, also if i have to do a hedge on my own , i set the trammel on the opposite side and before anyone says , "if there plenty of bagging ,you won,t loose rabbits" well anyone that has done plenty of netting will know that no matter what you use , you will loose some,

how would we manage without the brother-in-law

i think this thread should be allowed to continue , as i find it interesting, what about snaring on a proffesional basis ?, i know not many lads on here are professionals , but i sometimes have no alternative but to snare , because : its probably the most effective method for the ground being worked everything on the ground is lamp shy snares are easier to carry than cages cages don,t work very well in rural area,s its a very good method for reducing numbers quickly i,m good at it
-
i have to say , i take my hat off to you lads with the patience to sit and knit long nets , i have always bought mine , but then i would rather be out there useing them than sitting at home bored shitless with aching fingers, on a reccomendation from woodga , i have just got a double trammel and poles off gypoe joe , and i have to say the service and net are second to none, i have bought nets off others in the past (BB)and there is no waiting about for weeks on end with this lad, and this new trammel has way more bagging than the BB net, which is why it probably doesn,t hold more rabbits than

i havnt come across this before , our local just hands them over the counter
-
mmmmm
-
its also a very good place to find blood near the surface
-
i would suggest that if you had to shorten it, then there wasnt enough bagging for fifty yards .... considering his 100yard nets contains about 220 yards (approx), therfore it would make sense that his 50yard nets would have 110 yards (approx) count the meshes how the f**k can you tell with a picture taken at that distance,if it holds rabbits , its working.

i have two from last years breeding that are getting randy , but they won,t by friday, the other five were done last august after a summer of sceaching and fighting, all will be peaceful again

Moley let me educate you on a suffolk mole catchers tradition. We have on our hands 8fingers and 2 thumbs. within the first few traps we would have caught our 10 moles,( unlike some around the country) now with a little incision with the penknife we have enough room inside the mole for our fingers( and with the larger male mole for our thumbs) thus you have a nice set of warm fingers.WORD OF WARNING dont go picking your nose after the moles have been removed as the stink can upset ones delicate stomache. as for the north south devide on real men and us boys from darn sarf not being able

so for all these months , you havn,t had any money ,even when you had a job, what about the money you are making selling , nets , snares etc ,every time someone puts up a post about wanting nets , your right there sending pm,s , its gonna cost you more than you owe ,cos no ones gonna want to deal with you, what a prick
-
living in suffolk myself i think its a bit out the way of my everyday rounds, unless you want to pay for my travel you just stay where you are molecatcher,it takes a proper man to work the hills of the north , we don,t want to have to send out the fell rescue for a soft southern woosie cos his girly hands are cold

so , i need six foot of cable and some electrical tape , then what ? oh and some waterproofs for crawling about in the mud
