  5. There was no mention of rabbiting in the original post, just a ferret biting as it was being handled, but no, I wouldn't have a place in my team for any animal that had a habit of nasty biting, especially in the field. A working animal that you can't trust is no good to anybody. I feel any working animal should be used to being grabbed in a number of different ways, I get my pups used to be picked all sorts of ways, same with the ferrets as kits. See my first post replying to stubby, both posts mention rabbiting Y.I.S Leeview
  6. so, you want to use it for ferreting, which may involve it biting a rabbit, but if it bites YOU, it should be killed , surely, training/handling a kitt/ferret is the only way of teaching it what to bite, or not too,so the blame for a biting ferret would fall on YOU, and your failure to socialise the ferret, rather than the ferret itself I use lurchers for rabbiting in general which "bite" rabbits and there is NO way would I tolerate a dog biting anyone, never had to do it yet but the first time a dog did would be the last, end of. Pray tell how you teach a ferret what to bite and what not

  12. maybe they are ashamed to post... as the information is commonly out there and known... that if they'd tended to their jills in season they wouldn't have lost them... it might not happen all that often.. with the increased care we give ferrets these days.. and i have never personally lost a jill in season... though i've either jabbed, spayed or bred them so i'm not the target of the poll... but i do know people who have... Fair enough 7 people say they have actually experienced losing a jill through not mating, out of 316 views, Shepp's reply was that his jill looked rough so he had h
  13. Funny how people who have never lost a ferret by not mating are leading the vote and posting, whereas the people who have lost ferrets by not mating have nt posted Y.I.S Leeview
