  2. Soya Oil, Olive Oil, linseed Oil and weatgerm Oil. as I say I use it only for claw cutting one bottle will last me months.
  3. I just got a bottle to try mine and they like it. I only use it for claw cutting and thats it.
  4. Phoenix 7yr polecat hob (from working lines) Havoc 5yrs Abino hob Ben 4yrs Albino Hob Lex 3yrs Chocolate polecat hob(very very dark sandy) Titch 1-2yrs sandy hob the only work ours do is racing and PR in the summer.
  5. I've judge at about 10 shows over the last 5 years, and at every show I have seen at least 2 ferrets with suspected tipped teeth. I think its more commen than people like to think. I'm at a show on saturday and taking Titch with me as someone wants to meet him, and will get a couple of other opinions.
  6. He going in to be castrated monday, so will have a pic then as they are going the badly brocken one then. They could have been broken some other way but they look to neat for that, I seen ferrets with broken teeth due to chewing bars ect and they never been had a neat brake. This is a young ferret as the rest of its teeth are perfect. I could be completely wrong and they not broken at all, but hes the first ferret I have ever seen with squared off k-9's.
  7. can you put a picture of your ferrets teeth up Suzie? Y.I.S Leeview I was thinking of doing that, we can try and get a couple but as he is new to us he may not take kindly to it and I don't wanna up set him, as he has not bitten yet and don't want to give him an exscus. The vets will take a pic when they deal with the one that needs to come out, but that won't be till next week at the earlyest.
  8. Thanks guys Its what I thought then, I don't realy see how it could stop them killing, I mean they still have teeth just short ones. Thought I better say the rescues I have seen like this came into the rescue with there teeth like it, my little lad was a stray.
  9. Over the years I seen many ferrets with the tipps of there canines cut off (all rescues), I guessing this is don't to stop the ferret latching onto a rabbit down the bury. Anyway our new ferret had the tipps of his cut off and me and my boyfriend where descussing it and wondered weather my thought was correct. S does anyone know why it is done?
  10. thats stupied have they not seen te damage that can be done and how much pain and stress the dogs can go through. I hope they see sence soon
  11. does scotland not have the working dog exsemtion?
  12. I so so sorry for your loss Roo looks a cracking dog, I'm shore he will be missed big time.
  13. Im sorry, but they will if you dont molly coddle them, its just that they aint used to it, tip; removed all your dried food, stick a raw chicken leg in with them, they will eat when hungary if we shut you in a room, with nothing but raw meat, you would at some time, rather than die of hunger, eat the meat, a ferret is no different rant over 2 reasons why I wouldn't do that 1, ferrets have a very short digestive track and I would see starving them for a long period of time wrong, to get my ferrets to eat meat they would proberly have to go a very very long time without food.
  14. I never worked mine, but logic tells me a hungry ferret is more likely to kill feed and lay up. Be interesting to know how many times non fed ferret and fed ferrets lay up in a season to see if it does make a differance
  15. That is the one anoying thing about having a pet ferret not use to meat, they will not touch meat, I would love for my lot to have some, even if its just chcken wing for there teeth, but they just don't think its food the only thing they will eat is day old chicks. I would try rabbit with fur on but know no one that hunts, witch is one reason we don't work ours as I want to make shore I could cope with it (not a bunny hugger just not had to kill somthing myself before) welcome to the world of ferret forums LOL
  16. yeah just a tad exspencive lol was made by a local shed company to our own design, out of very good wood. Week could have got a cheap shed, but at least with this we got what we wanted and know it will last a good few years. But we have no human children, so are ferrets are rather spoilt lol
  17. mine, all £450 of it, but it will last, and at least if my BF chucks me out I have a place to live lol
  18. At least you know where you stand on this forum, no messing around. It like being in the pub
  19. I orrigonaly join here for the ferret section, but came back to learn about working dogs, as I been study dog breeds for many year. My dog is a show type wouldn't know how to work if it would safe his life, the ferrets are all rescue one I know for shore is from working Breeding, I may work them and I may get a working dog but thats for the future, for now learning is good. When I come onto this forum it like I change my hat to a working stockman mind from a pet cuddley frame of mind. nothing wrong with pet owners on here as long as they respect this most animals own on here are wo
  20. I have to that are almost identical, but I can tell them apart when I give them a good look, but to sav time I have snipped a tail, helps if one does a silly poo or is fighting to know straight away who it was. over did it this year though, everyone took the piss and said he was half a ferret now LOL
  21. good looking lad, hope he works as well as he looks. Is it me or is his smiling
  22. I was chatting to my OH tonight saying I would love to lern more about lurchers as joining here has sparked an interest, I study dog breeds for many years and what they where bred for the working ability ect, but never look into lurchers for some reason. Anyway he said shorely they must damage themselfs alot being so light framed and having long legs, he also said his friend had 2 rescue ones and both damaged there legs. Now I can't see them being any more likely to injure themselfs than any other dog, the only differance would be they work, so it posable that a working dog could injur
  23. and you wonder why people don't like hunting me thinks one needs an open mind, and less attitude why on earth am I suddenly a PETA fan for thinking about giving the hunting world good PR anyway I thought you where off to shoot unicorns
  24. If people will pay pver £1000 for a lab x poodle they will pay £850 for this x breed, I can't even see it even being a good worker. Feel sorry for the dam having to carry such large pups. I payed half of that for my line bred show Golden
  25. Can you not see someone looking at a pic like that, and thinking. "blood thrusty why kill so many ect ect ect" its just not good PR
