  1. Cheers Mac Tut, got a few memory cards of them, some nice birds too, little auk, merlin, greenshank, turnstone, had a good day apart from the fall..the rocks with the yellow stuff on ok to walk on, but, those black volcanic rocks, yes they are deadly..broke the rear screen protector on the camera but it could have been worse, out of the 12 person party that landed, 4 fell down.. You need to learn to roll Bill at the camera's intact
  2. The lazerlite 2million candle power lamp is an excellent lamp been using one for the last 4 years and the bulb is still going strong

We've all had one or been one at one time or another. Used and abused Pish ripped out of you but in the best possible way, but at least you were getting out and picking up useful tips or giving them as the case maybe. It always meant something to me as a kid and made me feel kind of important in a way carrying ferret boxes or piles of rabbits....being part of something if you get my drift. one of my most abiding memories is me and my mate coming out the local Glen with 25 rabbits on a pole on our shoulders and walking up the road and nobody batting an eye. Can you imagine what would happe

Is that the way top breeders do it?

  16. At that age pegging him down is more likely to frustrate him and cause him to whine....it's up to you but for the sake of another few months you could end up with a dog that's more likely to lose you more than you'll catch.
  17. Plenty of things you could do....making sure the dog is steady around your ferrets, you should really be working on the basics rather than worrying about when to take the dog out. You have plenty of time....get it right early and you should end up with a decent hunting companion. I usually start mine on ferreting trips around 7-8months and get them on the lamp around 12months but everybody's different.
  18. so you would rarther give a dog away or pts after all that hard work you must be crazy mate why not use a collar if it gets the result after everything else fails times are changing mate move with them not against No I would rather train the dog properly in the first place.....the only thing that appears to be changing is people taking the time and effort to train their dogs properly. As I said I've never needed one on a lurcher maybe that's just me!
  19. Put the collar on the owner....i would never have one on a lurcher
  20. I've never seen any difference in bags using filters so don't use them any more
  21. I think the biggest mistake folk make when this happens is they keep the lamp on and keep shining at the dog. Most young inexperienced dogs hunt up to start with. So slip if he misses lamp of...might take a wee bit of perseverance but stick with it and the penny will eventually drop. What your aiming for is the dog to return as soon as the lamp is switched of. The more you lamp with him the better he will get.
