  1. i've got about 15 pole floats/rigs that i'll throw in as well and a few other small bits.
  2. I had no intentions of knocking your dog my info was taken from your web site & K9 after the link to your info was posted by another member. my intentions were to set the record straight as members on here where being miss lead that Sooty Sam and Flaming Floyd were/had been excelant racing whippets?. unfortunatly these sites allow those who havnt got a clue to write posts that make out they know a lot yet in fact they know very little from true experiance but write from hear say and reading books?. i've worked dogs for 28 years (running dogs & Terriers) i've raced dogs for
  3. Mikes dogs are decendants of Lagunas as they have Laguna in the make up BUT IMO far to many jump on the band waggon of the Soty Sam/Laguna names to try and sell substandard pups who's parents havnt done anything that is worth selling the pups on directly. For many years in the UK just the fact that a pup had Laguna in the for sale ad was enough to gaurentee the seller getting rid of their pups regardless of whether the parents were any good?. in recent times it seems every other ad you see for pups states as a major selling point "BRED FROM SOOTY SAM" it's a shame those breeders have t
  4. Hi Macha, IMO the only true Lagunas are those that are bred by Bond Gunning (shes recently changed her name after getting married and I cant remember her new name) but a lot of lurcher breeders and pedigree whippet breeders often advertise as Luguna lines yet they have very very little Luguna blood in them?. Lagunas have always been a good selling point as they got a lot of good press in books ect.
  5. 11mtr Browning Mad Max Carp Pole, very little used very good condition takes up to a 20 elastic with 4 top sections (ie: Heavy carp, Carp, General, match.) £100 no offers or swop for Lamp/battery ect. PM me if interested
  6. Good strong looking pups. Good luck with them.
  7. I think you'll find True Lagunas and dogs bred from some Laguna blood are getting confused here, You often see pups bred for working with Laguna llines in the add but most in reality have only a very small amount in them but it's always been seen as a good selling point. TRUE Lagunas are small ie: under 20" (often 18-19") as they were mainly bred for showing/coursing for many Years by Mrs McKay (untill she died) to Course under rules (National Whippet Coursing Club Rules) a whippet (dog/bitch) must be under 20" at the shoulder, Her Daughter now breeds the line and conentrates mainly on sho
  8. Sooty Sam ~ As far as i'm aware never actualy raced (or at least didnt race under WCRA rules) as he was I believe approximatly 22" the hight limit in pedigree racing being 21". As far as i'm aware he never coursed under National Whippet Coursing club rules as again the hight limit is 20" for that (Dogs/Bitch's) so he'd of been excluded due to his hight. But I know he was a very very good working dog to all quarry as i've spoken to a lot of lads who had seen him work day/night. Sooty Sam has produced some outstanding working dogs and as P/M has stated was the sire of "whats behind the mas
  9. very cheap for a KC registered pup. good luck with the litter.
  10. Not seen a Laguna bred whippet yet at racing that i'd feed their far to slow. for many years now they have been bred mainly for showing and coursing but having seen a number of them at the Hill Climb (400yds up a steep hill) they can't compeat with the pure race breds. Nimrodel were very very good working/coursing dogs but again they are now bred mainly with showing in mind. Sooty Sam lines? well you either love them or hate them.
  11. Try Northolme Suppiles very well priced and great service.
  12. with that cross you wouldnt expect it to be fully grown till around 12-15 months. all dogs are differant but both the breed in that cross are slow reaching full hight/weight.
  13. try and make sure theres an area not covered by the heat lamp then she can get to a cooler area if she wants to be cooler.
  14. Just Updating the phone number as I posted the wronge 1 for him, He's asking £200 each but he's willing to take serious offers from Good Homes. PM For Details. No Personal Details To Be Posted On The Forum Pictures to follow la
  15. I've been asked to post these pups for a freind. He's got a litter of working bred whippet pups for sale their 8 weeks old, Kennel Club registeed Dogs/Bitch's available. Good homes more important than money hence £200 each Manchester ~ Sorry i've no pictures PM For Details. No Personal Details To Be Posted On The Forum
  16. Hi Marko I don't think age has anything to do with the ability to train a working dog, I know a lot of the more mature lads who cant train a dog to save their lives as they rush them to much they are far to eager to show how good thier dogs are. i've seen some younger owners who have got great patiance and bring their dogs on very slowly who have worked on the dog at the dogs paced not pushed it into things it wasnt ready for. every dog needs differant training at differant rates its very rare to get 2 dogs that require exactly the same training/food ect. A true dog man trains
  17. Exactly every dogs has differant needs unfortunatly its those with very little experiance that will never get the best out of a dog, but then go on to blaim the dog.
  18. The thing is like in any other breed I think a lot is down to the training, over the years ive owned/bred some cracking workers (KC reg Whippets) with great noses ect. I now concentrate mainly on racing so most of my dogs arnt worked from an early age which IMO is when they develope their scent skills/marking ect. but the 1's I use for working are great little dogs happy to sit in the cold/rain/snow for hours while ferreting arnt frightened to go into brambles ect ect. and pups weve sold to working homes have more than proved themselves (in the right hands) as have pups from our stud
  19. So are you saying the line bred? Sooty Sam whippets are no good then as they are bred to a very tight gene pool?. IMO out crosses produce the best dogs and also increase the gene pool. (Edited to ad ~ i've no sooty sam in my lines )
  20. I take it you dont know a lot about Pedigree Racing in the UK?, KC registered whippets in the UK are bred stecificly for racing non race breds (ie: show/working) can take part but they cant compeat on a level playing field with the purpose bred race whippets. The non pedigree whippets are faster but thats due to the greyhound blood being put into them.
  21. Had racing/working whippets for 15 years i've never heard of that Affix before?. Whippets make great working dogs (rabbit/rats day/night) they will takle bigger stuff but most dont have the size or weight to deal with the bigger stuff cleanly. All whippets given the opertunity and training will work and work very well. Sooty Sam lines work well (I dont own any sooty sam breeding) but lack early pace and top speed. A lot of sooty Sam line bred bitch's have been going out to Kc Pedigree Racing Whippets the results being you get a faster worker but they still seem to have the stay
  22. only fastdogz can answer that but i'd hazard a guess at they didnt realise the post before theirs was from september?
  23. The bitch concerned was lured away from it's owner by somebody while out walking, she was found several days later on a railway unfortunatly dead. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER
