  1. The lure machines do around 55-60MPH flat out but are controlled to run slower via a push button so any speed of dog can be trained on them.
  2. Hi lads postage will only be what the courier charges if you give the lad who's making them a ring he'll sort it for you.
  3. Ok lads yep the price would of helped. and he's in Huddersfield (west Yorkshire) he makes 2 units the lure in the picture is the 1 he made up for me great little unite self contained with a battery attached (the batterys are dry cell type off BMW motor bikes "a lampers dream battery") the unite in the picture is £100 (collected but he's willing to post via a curier at cost) the unite is very compact and weighs only about 10lb so easy to move about. he also does the unit without the battery for £90 that comes with caravan type battery clamps on. he will also make rollers
  4. What a load of Bo****ks. have you ever owned a whippet???? well said Mally. having coursed with the EAWCC & VRWCC they definatly get more than 60yds well they do if they are well fed well looked after & fit. i've run lure coursing meetings for 10 years now (under the name of the Northwest LCC) with distances upto 800yds dogs sometimes having to run this 5 times to win the final these are testing courses not the 150yds 3 gate things often run at game fairs for the lurchers. anyone doubting a whippets ability get yourself out with a decent whippet and i think yo
  5. they dids away with the liscence last year. try this link ~ knights cb
  6. Pedigree racings run in weight groups ie: 14/19lb, 20/22lb ect so there are very good dogs in each group. we used 1 twice call Fine & Dandy he weighed in at 28/29lb was 20 1/2" at the shoulder, he won 6 WCRA championships 3 sporting championships and was the top dog in the country for 3 racing seasons, the pups we got from him have proved themselves racing/working & lure coursing.. the dog of the moment is a 28lb dog called "Run At Mill" very fast always give 100% but his pups have only just started hitting the track so its not proven yet if he's breeding on into his pupos
  7. Photo Finish did well against the non peds at club level were they were hcpped on time, he wouldnt of got near them in a non ped open/championship meeting, the same as Rolling Thunder (Parkstone Street Wise) he also ran against the non peds and beat many of them at club level but again he wouldnt of got near the top class non peds at an open or champs.. in a straight race off weights it will take a very good pedigree to beat an average non ped and against a good non ped off level weights the pedigree would have no chance at all. in the field I dont think you could make the same compari
  8. these lines will not give you the speed that race bred dogs will their are very few dogs with lagunas/nimrodels close up in their pedigrees racing these days at the top level. if your looking for speed from pedigree lines you need to be looking at lines such as Goodad, Mcarthur, Fairmist, there are many many race bred dogs available at stud that are proven.
  9. That can be a problem especialy with bitch's between around 6-12 months they go through a stage of i'll do what I want. time, kindness & patiance will be rewarded
  10. SS lines can & do race but they struggle to compeat against race bred whippets especialy at Open/Championship meetings were theres no club hcp to help as they just dont have the out and out early pace needed for racing. also SS lines seem to be being bred bigger these day and the racing limits are 21" for dog and 20" for bitchs (pedigree racing) so a lot are unable to race due to being over sized.
  11. are you looking to keep the size down as well as adding speed?. if your looking to inject speed and are looking at pedigree whippets you need to look for a race bred sire as working breds are slower.
  12. Yep take your time, get the basics in place (recal ect) never raise your voice to a whippet as thats the quickest way to ruine one. once old enough take it were there a plenty of rabbits and if bred/reared the right way it will teach you more than you can teach it. good luck with the pup.
  13. as has already been said a lot of bitch's will go off their food between 21/28 days into the pregnancy. we used to have a bitch that would go off her food at about 25 days then refused to eat till her pups were born all she wopuld do was drink so we used to give her the high protein/fat drinks like complan ect. had her checked by the vet ect but he always said she was in perfect nick and would eat when ready?.
  14. if he's looking to inject some speed then he needs to use a racing stud dog, I can give you dozens of dogs names racing champions ect ect pm me with what hes after and i'll suggest a few.
  15. Photo finish is out of a bitch we bred, he did very well on the coursing field (pre ban of course) running with the East Of England WCC. I heard a few bitch's went to him but he didnt mate then, i've not heard of any pups being out of him so they may have removed him from stud duties.
  16. if you need any help (questions ect) PM me and i'll help out if I can only tend to be on in a morning but i'll reply when i am. good luck with the pup.
  17. Have to agree a puppy shouldn't leave its mum till at least 8 weeks old, not only does it need the support of mum but it needs the mental stimulation of its litter mates to learn social interaction with other dogs ect but thats more down to the breeder than you. a whippet puppy should never look thin, they need to be well covered which gives them the building blocks to grow into strong adults, a pup kept light in weight will never reach it's full potential as an adult.. heres what we are feeding our 12 week old pup to give you an idea. Beakfast (7am)~ Scrambled eggs 12 noon ~ comp
  18. what the hell are they doing bringing strays in from other countrys? havnt we got enough here already?.
  19. most local councils are now stoppiung people keeping chickens in their back gardens but a lot depends on how well you get on with your naibours. if noone complains most will leave you alone but if they recieve a complaint will take action.
  20. do you want 10p for the phone.

  22. Channel 4 at 9pm its on all week.
  23. it's a very good programme as are all the series he's done BUT correct me if i'm wronge but he claims to be dead agains intensve poultry farming ect yet he's willing to star in a show which has delibratly set up a indoor chickin rearing shed using the very conditions he claims to hate so much yet hes willing to do it to educate us all? or is that to line his own pocket by staring in the show?. surely his own conciance about intensive farming (if as strong as he claims it to be) would have stopped him from being involved in such a show unless he's out for the MONEY!.
