    Natural hunting instinct stamina nose temprement conformation & an almost insane wish to please IMO the only thing they do lack is top class speed for racing at the highest level & for that id outcross to heavyweight racing stock with good conformation that have been worked.eg Parkstone Buttons/Parkstone Black Gold.

    They are not the be all & end all of working whippets mate its just they do what it says on the can as you know i have Sooty Sam bred whippets but i have also worked Oakbark/Shalfleet/Savilepark/Stepaul/Gorwynne/Walkabout to mention a few all with varying ability these breeders DON'T WORK their bloodlines, fashion is something that comes & goes & that does not stand the test of time Sooty Sam was born 13 AUG 1991 almost 18 years ago the stock that are advertised as Sooty Sam are mostly grandchildren or GRT or GRT GRT grandchildren the last litter sired by this dog was in 2000 &

    I'm pleased with her mate, 156 rabbits on the lamp in her first season, she's also a very good ferreting bitch mate. The only thing i havn't done with her yet is lure course but thats being sorted i took her to the non ped racing at maltby and she's started to chase the lure. She's not mad for it but she's chasing. We'll see how she gets on at the lure coursing on april the 11th i just hope it's a decent distance Look forward to seeing you there mate the distance of the course will be no less than 450 yards.

    Do you have pictures of the prospective parents to this litter and what are goals in breeding such a litter.. i have a little brindle bitch, was gonna breed her with delightful cruise, im breeding her with a saluki simply becuase im wanting a bit more stamina, she recovers well after a good course, but nowt like a saluki for recovery plus a bit of power behind them as she strugles to carry the bigger stuff, i couldnt ask anymore from my little bitch, everyone done the greyhound x whippet, i just prefer the saluki, Might be worth trying a bigger whippet 22inch TTS 32-38lb

    This Event Is A Combined Event Run By Both The UK Working Whippet Club & The Northwest LCC. The Date Is Set for Saturday 14th March 2009 for a 32 dog KC registered Whippet stake + an 8 dog Reserve KC registered Whippet stake if needed Entry will be £10 per whippet. There will be a 16 dog whippet stake that will be run as a straight knockout event Entry will be £5.00 per dog. An 8 dog Lurcher stake also a straight knockout event Entry will be £5.00 per dog.
