Hi Mate, if the rifle is only for fox then go for .223. great tool and rounds are not too expensive ( if you dont reload ). I also use a hornet which is a cracking calibre & good on fox out to 200Yds, can also be used on rabbits using the correct bullet., only thing is factory ammo is bloody expensive for them. Cheers. LD PS My .223 is a Howa 1500, good solid rifle at a reasonable price

How many times do you guys think it is wise /safe to reload .223 cases, i always reload to mid spec so rounds are not loaded hot and i also use various brass ie winchester, remington, sako ect been reloaded about 5 times to date and have no sign of damage, just wondered if there was an estimated throw away time My local fd sells new ppu brass ( 223 ) anyone used this, any good ? Thanks. LD

Thank you all for your replies. Steve, i also have a K hornet and must say its a cracking round. i reload using 12.7 gn of lilgun, with 45gn sierra varminter soft point bullet & cci small rifle primers. if i am on form i get 1/2" group @ 100 yds and 1 1/2" @ 150yds very satisfied with this. shot many fox and rabbits over the years. my rifle is a ruger 77 and because of the 1in14 twist i can use the 50gn sierra blitz king which are accurate and hard hitting @ because o the rotary mag i can load to 1.800" oal. What make brass do you find best for fire forming. mine are getting a bit thin

A question for all the .22 hornet users . Is accuracy better when pistol primers are used instead of small rifle ? over in the states seems they mostly use the pistol primers when reloading the hornet, just wondered what benefits there are. LD

Hi Mate, Same on my patch, plenty around last year but numbers seem to be well down this year, not seeing the number of young about, and not seen any sign of myxy so perhaps weather is to blame. Hope we have a late rush of young !! LD

Hi mate, As said MTC or Nikon Prostaff, both excellent glass for the money, why pay more than tripple the price for the likes of the S&B, etc, when the above will be more than adequate out to 300Yds plus (Dont think u would shoot much further than this on live quarry!!?) Dont get me wrong S& B, Swarro, etc are very very good scopes, but i personally feel they are over priced, and you pay for the name not the product !! on these occasions i feel its not always a case of -- you get what you pay for ! Just my Opinion, Hope it helps. LD. PS. Redfield is also a very good scope , a

Hi guys, what vehicle would you recomend to use on farms , not looking for a 4x4 bit to expensive for me to run at the mo. just looking for something with enough ground clearance to go up muddy farm tracks at the worse, and across the field now and again, have a diesel focus now and is a great car , cheap to run but is very low to the ground and struggles with any uneven land. getting on a bit now so luggin all pigeon decoy gear any distance is a pain in the butt. would appreciate any help. Can't help you with 50 gr Blitzkings as the guy I reloaded for used 50 gr Noslers in his RWS .223 Copied from my notes: 50 GR Nosler Ogive = 1.912" (COL = 2.324) New Case Datum 1.460 Fed Gold Primers Starting Trim 1.753 N133 25.3 gr 10thou back at 1.902 (col 2.314) with 25.3g Keep shoulder Datum around 1.463" I would imagine that both heads are roughly the same - this combination produced a 5 shot group of .261 when I handed the rifle over, but, as always please work up loads. I am not a great fan of 'close to the lands' but it seeme

About to start using the above powder in reloads for .223, i am using a 50Gn Blitz bullet. Anyone else use this combo and can suggest a good starting load , and if possible minimum & maximum loads for both 50 & 55 Gn bullets. Thanks in advance LD
